    Tip-dry really is the bane of my airbrushing life. I’ve been adding flow improver and the recommended thinners - up to about 3:1 but sounds like it may not be enough. I’m using a pre-mixed airbrush paint. My brush just keeps clogging, not just the tip, but deeper in.
    And now I’ve gone and lost the teeny-tiny (PTFE?) light grey o-ring that was hiding deep within the nozzle section. Had no idea it was there - came out while I was cleaning a clog with a dental brush. It’s a cheapo pseudo-Iwata with MAC valve.

    Nice explanation on the mixing, I like watching your intuitive videos. I've a question:, I'm actually getting into airbrush painting, for mostly 1/48 scale jets; F14 Tom cats, F18 Hornets and so forth. But I have never (outside of using testers or pactra spray cans) used an airbrush, although I've owned a Badger 200 siphon feed for over 30yrs, I've never used it. I've also watched a few videos on this hobby, to sorta get a read on "How to". For air, the Badgcamr with a tall can of compressed air, which I still have. But I have learned a compressor is the way to go. So I went with one with a tank. Master ABD TC-20T. I've also aquired a Master G233 Pro with 3 needles. Its not perhaps the best, but its a gravity feed. I heard gravity fed is best. I also built a pray booth. However, my question is about the drawing pad SIZE you are spraying on. I am gathering that I should spend some time practicing on a pad, until I get a fair hang of operating the airbrush, spraying different widths and basically also learn to mix the paints. Before I saw any of your videos, I had opt to buy some tamiya and vallejo paints. So, I believe I will need a pretty big pad (18x24) perhaps..? And if you can, perhaps you can direct this newbie to essential videos you have made, that will guide me on this hobby. Thank you.

    very odd question here.. I have kitchen cabinets that have an extremely smooth (like glass smooth) white dove finish. There are spots where corners are cracking due to the humidity contracting and expanding the wood. I've fixed the humidity problem but the cracks remain. Using a brush will create some brush marks so I thought perhaps I could use an airbrush to fill in the paint in the cracks. Would an airbrush work for this application? I suppose I would have to thin the paint first.
    Thanks

    Thanks for this video! A question about air pressure and paint viscosity... Do you have a video (or chart) that shows the (poor) results of improper pressure and/or improper paint viscosity? In videos you see experienced airbrushers tweaking the pressure to suit the current paint/reducer mix and also for the level of detail they are working at but there is no explanation of why and they rarely say what pressuret hey are using. I'm sure those "on airbrush" pressure regulators are there for a reason 😀 Think that a diagnostic video something like "this spray pattern shows that the is pressure to high/low or the paint is too thick/thin and this is what you want to see for this particular purpose" would be very useful for newbies. I hear your recommendations for trident but that may not hold true for other brands and I will need to figure it out on my own. If, when mixing the paint/reducer (by eye) do you add more of what is needed to correct the mixture or can you just adjust the pressure a bit? Sorry for the long-winded post but there is nobody around here that can mentor me and I have to learn from watching videos. Cheers!

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your comment and fantastic suggestion 😉
      Because all brands are different I would firstly see how they spray straight out of the bottle (especially if they say ‘ready mixed’) then gradually add your reducer / thinner until you find what works best for you.
      As you mentioned there are SO many variables psi, brand of paint, whether or not your airbrush has a MAC valve and even the humidity of where you are airbrushing can be a factor.
      To simplify this I recommend starting with 30psi and working at that 1:1 ratio then if you want more detail reduce your paint more and lower your psi, if you want more coverage then thicker paint and higher pressure will work .
      Hope that somewhat helps 👍🏻

    Would you use the same ratio with the Vallejo Air Model paint?

    • @AirbrushAsylum
      @AirbrushAsylum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question and to be honest I’m not 100% sure as Vallejo paints are one brand I have no experience with . Maybe try a smaller amount of reducer first then gradually work up to 1:1 ratio. I recommend the 1:1 for paints like trident and Createx if you are using another brand then use this as a guide and gradually add more reducer / thinner until it performs best for your application .

    • @sirrathersplendid4825
      @sirrathersplendid4825 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also using Vallejo Air paint, or rather trying to, as my airbrush skills are rudimentary.
      Seems to vary with the colour. The lighter colours are definitely thicker and may require more thinning. Some of the darker colours seem to work well out of the bottle (with just a splash of flow improver and/or thinners).
