    Great idea. For us who don't like to drill holes, I used a 1/2 pvc pipe across the opening in the upper bunk and a harbor freight moving blanket held on by clips.
    Same concept as the video but different attachment system

    This is great - I have a garage that is separate from our condo and it gets stifling hot in the Summer (also in Southern California) and I just thought about using the moving blankets from our move out west to "insulate" the ceiling to try to keep the temps down over summer. I'll see how this goes but glad to see it worked in your scenario. Thanks for the video

      You might consider stapling Reflectix to the ceiling. It is much lighter and a good radiant barrier.

    This would work great on my Dodge Promaster camping build, my rear doors are bare steel, and my cab lets in so much cold here in Victoria BC, I'll bet one of these blankets at each end will solve the issue! Thanks for the idea and instructions!

      After 4 years it is still working well. The blanket is got is pretty cheap. If I redo it some day, i will add the backing tape to both sides of the snaps. That seems to be the weak spot.

    Ron the minute clinic brings the whole video together. Tho gauging of the bit might of been over the top for laymen. Question? The netting on the top berth where did you purchase it. We have looked and they are all stretching to 60 “. We have a 2018 Navion 24 D and the berth is near 80”. We do use the berth for storage and need to make things safer.
    Thanks for all your videos they are extremely helpful. Jeff from Bend Oregon.

    Love it, love 1 minute clinic too - my thoughts - I love the swivel captains chairs & would like to insulate along the window/door line so I can integrate the chairs into cabin.

    Always enjoy your videos Ron. I am using the hanging blanket tucked under the mat as you started with. This custom fit is a project now added to my to do list.

    Snaps are a great idea! I have been draping a moving blanket as well. Tried using the industrial strength self sticking Velcro. Sticks well to the interior surface, but not so much to the blanket. Didn't want to sew it to the blanket, the sticky backing would gum up the needle and machine. Thanks for the info and the mini clinic! As always, Stay Safe ♥️

      The tenacious tape if sticking well to the blanket, you might consider putting that on first and then the velcro to the tape.

    For your cab space, I heard ceramic clear film tinting the shield and windows can reflect the heat and cut down temperature somewhat.

    Just holds the heat in the cab and cooks that... not good. Maybe a sun screen on the windshield?

  • @jeremymo4095
    @jeremymo4095 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ron, looks like an awesome idea! I think I'll try it. The one thing I'd maybe do is add some reflectix to one side and put snaps on both ends opposing side, so that you could flip the reflectix side out for the heat and when it gets cold you could face the reflectix inward and the cloth side outward to gather heat. I think you'd greatly improve your insulation and heat rejection... Just my thoughts.

    • @ontheroadwithron2432
      @ontheroadwithron2432  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reflectix would reflect more heat but it would be more bulky. It also reflexes heat in both directions so no need to flip it around. Would be same either way.

    Super concept! I hang a shower rod adjustable top cab area with hung thick shower curtain when going down road so cab cools better if not traveling with dog in back. But love your set up! Thanks for share! Peachy cool that is! 👍👍🍑🍑

    Hi Ron,

    Did u consider using whether a barrier material other than a moving blanket might have better insulation properties?

    I need help, does insulation the cab with a blanket work as well as a constructed cab partition? I hate to close it off but I can’t stand to be too hot or cold.

    • @ontheroadwithron2432
      @ontheroadwithron2432  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many places that heat and cold can get in. An insulated part ion will insulate better than a blanket if you can make it close to air tight. However with the irregular surfaces, I would think a blanket can be fitted tighter. Also the overhead loft is poorly insulated so blocking that area will also help.

    We are thinking of doing something similar, but we are considering putting the insulated curtain behind the captains chairs. Attaching at the top following the plastic around the scooped out section. Any pros or cons?
    And as always great video!

    • @ontheroadwithron2432
      @ontheroadwithron2432  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I considered that, but thought it had too many curves and corners to insulate real well. Would liked to have the option of either front or behind the seats, but couldn't think of a way to do it without sacrificing the thermal barrier.

    Hey Ron,
    Love your videos. I had a question for you: whats your thoughts on the stock View driver seat?
    Do you find that it gives you and back, shoulder pain?
    On my last drive to FL in my View, my back was in terrible pain about 4 hours into the drive.
    I’m Currently searching for a alternative seat, but wanted to hear if you’ve experienced the same problems.
    Thanks!

      @ontheroadwithron2432  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheHomeRecordingGuy I never had any back pains driving. I do like to stop every 2 hrs or so. However the bed was giving me a back ache. Was fine when new. I put a towel under it where my butt rests and that seems to help. I think we are all constructed a bit different so try what you can.
