I was sixteen (now 60) at the time and can still remember watching this on tv. He was and still is my favorite singer. A part of me died the day he died. R.I.P. John... 🌹🌹🌹
I'm a bit older, but my story is the same from the moment I saw John perform on the BBC show from Shepherd's Bush I loved him. I waited for every album and learned every lyric. Flew to London for one night to attend his solo concert at the Apollo Theatre, which was superb! Even travelled to Colorado in my 27th year and went up into the Rockies. Wonderful talent, wonderful Human being. Gone too soon. I couldn't listen to his music for many years, but this past year I have been coming back to it. It's even better this time around. Miss you, John.
John is my favourite singer, brought my children up on his music which traveled the continent with us. Will always hold him close to my heart. I still play his music regularly. Rest in Peace John. 🙏🙏
Yes, brings back great memories of my teenage years. I saw John Denver perform in 1978 in Lubbock, Texas - An awesome talent and I can still remember that evening to this day. In this video is the musician / comedian Steve Martin playing the banjo. Great and memorable rendition of Silent Night..... John, The World misses you, your kindness and superior talent.
I came across this now just two days after Christmas. What a beautiful video ❤. John Denver is the most purest singer ever to me . I miss him terribly. His songs ,voice, wit , intellect ,humor was something else. His environmental / animal involvements as well as humanitarian ones was amazing and I learned from it I wish we could go back right now when he was with Annie, his real true love and partner in life.
So smooth & raw - pure talent! My favorite Christmas song. Love those cool 70s feathered haircuts like the girl at 3:00 sitting by Mr. Denver & the brunette sitting across from her. 💇😍
I cried when he started this, his voice is that beautiful. My only wish is that he'd done a version in the original German. I've looked and looked to see if there was such a thing, with him being a big part German himself, in heritage.
He sure was German. My grandmother grew up with John. I believe their mothers were sisters. He was the best &his deeply missed by all our family & of course all his fans❤

Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright 'Round yon virgin Mother and Child Holy infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight! Glories stream from heaven afar; Heavenly hosts sing Al-le-lu-ia! Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born! Silent night, holy night Son of God, oh, love's pure light Radiant beams from Thy holy face With the dawn of redeeming grace Jesus, Lord at Thy birth Jesus, Lord at Thy birth Jesus, Lord at Thy birth
The reason this song was written by an Austrian priest because that afternoon the skies suddenly turned black because of the clouds of a volcanic eruption, one of the biggest in history, came from Mount Tambora in Sumbawa, eastern part of Indonesia... The afternoon and evening turned silent, mainly because of fright and uncertainty

The most beautiful rendition of Silent Night. I listen to it frequently.
Time stands still in certain moments. Listen here and it is still 1975. The music may only last a few minutes, but the peace remains long after.
It’s Christmas evening and I came across this gem. Merry Christmas and Rest In Peace, John.
Yep, to bad he left all of us to soon .I rest assured he is singing his Grace in Heaven with his Lord and Saver 🙏.
Let us remember brothers and sisters . Remember to love one another. Let's pray for peace in this world that has lost its way. Amen
