    Great video that discusses high sodium and other nutrition facts in meal kits which other videos do not address. I stopped using HelloFresh because of the extremely high sodium content. It was unbelievable.

    Great review, I really enjoyed getting your views on this food option. Looks like it is better to stick to the basics

    Thanks for posting your healthier version on your Instagram. Do you have any suggestions for dairy free substitutions for the greek yogurt?

    • @KirstenAllen
      @KirstenAllen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its really difficult to find a good greek yogurt substitute that's comparable in protein content. If you can find a soy based yogurt then that'll work! There's also dairy free yogurts from liberte now but its coconut based (not sure how that would taste here). Vegan mayo may also work!

    True, there were many times I would bite into the protein and realize it’s a bit too salty for my liking and “I should decrease the salt & seasoning next time” but I always forget because I’m too focus on getting the recipe right. I agree with all the benefits you mentioned. All the meals were very delicious but for diet purposes I’ll probably prefer to shop the ingredients myself.

    This was a cool informative video. Looking forward to more! I don’t pay attention to food ordering services like this so I honestly thought this was a puppy food review for Piper at first. Haha.

      Haha! I definitely should find a puppy food delivery service to make a video with Piper 😂🤭

    Came across you a month or so ago when I started following your spin videos & I love them. So glad you do nutrition too!
    Iv had HelloFresh a few times now & it has really helped me to expand on different foods. Although I could cook fine etc, i would end up sticking to the same foods & so this got me out my nutritional box I found myself in.
    I would only keep it up every few weeks simply because it’s a lot cheaper to shop yourself, iv just been lucky enough to get a couple discount codes.
    I didn’t realise how high some of salt contents in the meals were & il definitely keep it in mind from now on. I am trying to lose weight so would only pick the meals that are 500 calories or less & I think once this discount code runs out I will just keep the recipe cards to make the recipes again but improve the nutrition so thank you so much for the info!!

      Hi Paula!! So happy to hear you're enjoying the spin classes! Keep up the great work!
      Thank you for sharing your experience and success with HelloFresh! It seems like you are making the most out of the food service to meet your specific needs/goals. Yes, definitely take advantage of the discount codes! I've kept the recipe cards as well.. super handy to get some meal inspo and adapt the recipes!!

    Do you think that if we keep hello fresh but avoid the spices, sauces etc. And use our own in little quantities it would improve the nutritional facts significantly. Or is still not worth it for the long term even doing these adjustments?

    • @KirstenAllen
      @KirstenAllen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would definitely be a good solution to improve the nutrition and help eliminate some of the excessive salt in the meals!

    What about their fit & wholesome category?

    • @KirstenAllen
      @KirstenAllen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that a new category? I would recommend just checking the nutrition facts lists first!

    Husband and I are certain we've both gained weight with hello fresh. I used them for 2 months about a year ago and noticed about 5 to 7lbs weight gain. Then went off and slimmed down even with eating out.
    Here we are again with hello fresh 2 months in and my jeans are tighter. Step on scale and lo and behold 6 lbs up. I've even modified some recipes with less oil and butter. Perhaps it's the salt content and subsequent water retention? Guess we'll go off of the meal plan and see what happens.

    • @KirstenAllen
      @KirstenAllen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is so interesting! Probably a combination of the higher calories of the meals overall as well as the salt!

    I was getting belly aches after each meal, I have tried about 5 recipes. I do not get belly problems normally and read labels on food ,choosing as healthy as I can . I've stopped ordering now. looking for another company.

    Quick question, Does the Mediterranean diet work to lose weight or not really?

    • @KirstenAllen
      @KirstenAllen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mediterranean dietary pattern is definitely a good choice for overall health and potentially seeing weight loss as a by-product of those health improvements. It emphasizes many great principles (i.e. anti-inflammatory fats, plant-based, minimal processed foods)! There's no one-size-fits-all diet for weight loss. You have to find what way of eating works for you, meaning that you can maintain/sustain whatever food choices you make to lose weight (because that's how you will have to continue to eat in order to maintain that weight loss). Hope that helps!!

    I’m 6’5 and 300 lbs. I purchased this in hopes of losing weight. Guess that won’t be happening

    • @KirstenAllen
      @KirstenAllen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If HelloFresh is an improvement on your current eating patterns then it is a step in the right direction and you could experience weight loss depending on the calories of the meals. Never underestimate the power of improved food skills as well! Keep making positive lifestyle changes!!

    honestly it's cheaper and healthier to just buy your own ingredients. You're just paying for convenience and variety. Their marketing just gives the illusion of health.
    1. Like you said 27g of sugar is ridiculous. Ideally you would want 0g of added sugar. Natural sugars are fine but wow. That is ridiculous
    2. Yep. No whole wheat pasta or grains. Big NO. You're ingesting straight refined carbs without any nutritional value.
    3. The only spice you should ever need is salt and pepper
