They are so named from the movements of the leaves in certain species that “mimic” animal sensibility. The well-known sensitive plant, or humble plant (Mimosa pudica), is commonly grown in greenhouses as a novelty for its rapid leaf movements in response to touch. Thank Google, not me
Mimosa plant Also known as shameplant, sensitive plant (Mimosa pudica) is a tropical member of the Mimosa genus. The stout, shrubby plant generally grows up to 18 inches tall, producing delicate, fern-like leaves and fluffy yellow or purple flowers. Sensitive plant is a popular houseplant due to its remarkable leaves, which curl into themselves when touched. The plant is considered invasive in tropical climates.
I'm not a puzzle guy but this is my idea of a real puzzle! Everything you need to solve it is there, you dont need any knowledge of puzzles or guesswork. Go at it methodically and you'll get there. Some of your others are so obscure that without good puzzling skills you'd be lost. So well done mr designer!
Thank you for this amazing video review, Christian! Looking at someone really trying to understand your design while solving it is the most satisfying feeling! Had fun watching you solve it :D
Mimosa plants grow here where I live. While on walks I'll aimlessly brush my hand on the branches and watch the leaves close together. They have a very nice pink flower in late spring as well. As for Mimosa the drink (champagne and orange juice), it sounds good but I've never had one.
It's always interesting to see what fans come up with, and I love when the goal of a puzzle is incorporated into the solution, like having to put the center pin through the disc you're trying to free with this one. Instead of just being a passive entity waiting to be rescued, the goal becomes an integral part of the process and makes it feel more satisfying to free it; that's one of the reasons hedgehog cage puzzles are so satisfying.
It seems to me that's a choice of puzzle it Is entirely up to you. Whether it's a Fan one off puzzle, or a company puzzle doesn't matter. What does matter is that you find it interesting, captivating, and satisfying me in some regard. Cheers
I have to admit, with the name "touch me not" I figured you'd have to roll it in order to open it. this was a good puzzle, as for fan-submitted puzzles, I would love to see them, the engineering required is quite fascinating
Neat! The 'sensitive' aspect reminds me of the delicate touch needed to feel the pins and tumblers and whatnot when cracking open a safe lock. Safe-breakers used to use fine sandpaper to rub off their fingerprints to increase the sensitivity of their sense of touch. Not that I've ever tried break open a safe, mind you. No, no, no. "I'm a good girl, I am..."
Hi Mr.Puzzle, this was a great puzzle and I think that it's so nice and wonderful of you to to share and show other subscribers puzzles on your channel, well done. 🧩💜🧩
The name of the puzzle is based on the plant the mimosa pudica or "Touch Me Not" plant. It's so sensitive that if you touch the leaves, its response is to instantly close the leaves and droop down. It comes back up like a normal plant within 15 minutes. I have one and I love it!
Oh my gosh, Mr. Puzzle! Your channel is doing soooo well since the last time I was here! I think you had around just under 2k! I noticed that Chris Ramsay's channel EXPLODED by the millions over the last year and a half, and I heard him mention you when I went back to his channel! Congratulations on your success, man! I'm so happy for you!
Mr Puzzles your B-role is getting better and better every week. Boy what a over all good puzzle. I really enjoyed this video Mr Puzzles. What puzzle are you going to do next? Can't wait
6:41: "Not sure what the name of this puzzle, so far, means, in relation to this puzzle (...) this "mimosa, the "touch-me-not plant" 7:04: "See, how sensitive this is?" LOL :)
Nice solve Mr. P! I really think that that puzzle would have been very difficult to solve for the average person not familiar with puzzles. Yep, more fan puzzle solving would be great! 👍👍👍👍
I have a set of the Genius Dice, they're fun to play with and very beautiful, but I tend to use them as more display pieces than for any actual gaming. Also, consider this a +1 for more fan puzzles. And thank you for having the explanation and the diagram at the end, I'll admit I was having trouble following the mechanism just from watching you solve it.
Hi Mr Puzzle, Really enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm while you are problem solving. I like how you explain not only the puzzle but the prosses of problem solving itself. Thank you for making life better :-)
I like the concept and shape, but the choice of materials and colours falls flat for me. The dark wood is a nice enough colour, but when such a tall shape is only one shade, it feels like a shame to me. The acrylic on the sides is prone to showing globs of glue, while not adding to the aesthetics very much. Using a different kind of wood instead there, would have spruced the colour scheme up (no pun intended) Same for the layered discs I think.
nice looking puzzle. easy solution though. it would have bern nice if it rrquired you to blow through one of those holes to open the box. Mimosa Pudica is one of my favourite plants. it collapses itself completely if a fly lands on it and starts crawling around. but then it gradually stands up and opens up its leaves again.
Probably, but it is also possible to use woods that have the same density or balance the dice some other way. Many cheap plastic dice are not really that well balanced either with the unfilled holes.
Nice constructed dices in the movie. But don't use them in a game, because the use of different wood types with different densities will probably mean that the dices are not fair.
What if someone came to you offering an extremely unusual large amount of money to solve the Hellraiser puzzle and it had to be done live! Would you do it 😮
Fan puzzles would be fun, I think. Maybe the cost would be more reasonable. Some of the puzzles in the past, while beautifully done are prohibitively costly. I think fan-puzzles would be more random in design and solution. : )
I would definitely watch. Mr Puzzle would destroy him though, which could be bad for Ramsays business. I'm a huge fan of both, but there's no doubt who would win most puzzles.
@@groowanderer I don't know man. Ramsey solved the Titan puzzle faster. That one was insane. And Mr Puzzle had trouble on that simple block puzzle in a box a little while ago. Puzzles can be unpredictable...
@@kathrynpanger2289 I agree, which is why I said "most" but they've actually overlapped on a lot of different puzzles. Mr Puzzle has conquered the majority of them quicker and while using more logic rather than luck. I mean you seen what happened with the whole Excalibur fiasco. That alone should tell you a lot.
@@groowanderer Sure, but Chris has had a lot of practice since then. You get better at puzzles the more you do them. I bet they are increasingly close to being matched by now if they aren't already.
India has only 77 corona cases and only 2 deaths..rest are almost cured and will ne discharged soon... I think should wash hands after holding anything from europe or america since many died there from a virus...
One secret still remains!! Why is it called after the Mimosa plant? Can you explain?

maybe the disc inside has COVID-19... :P
the one who solves it... gets infected ;)
that's why it's named TOUCH ME NOT
There are touch me not plants here in Vietnam. They react and move when you touch them. Pretty cool to me, an American who moved here in 2012.
...so just try blowing

Those dice are awesome. I would just display them to avoid them being damaged over time with continual usage. Maybe only rarely use them
I would love to see you do fan puzzles. I would even bet that some of the fan puzzles would be right on par with the professional ones.
Well, to be sincere - I can not afford most of the puzzles that amaze me: I just adore these.

IMHO, this one seems pretty original
To check if valid for games, the must is they must be equilibrates, so same probability on each side.
Fan puzzles would rock!
where can i buy this kind of puzzles?
Imagine a puzzle that took "touch me not" literally and you could only solve it by blowing on it, singing certain notes or shining lights at it.
There is one. Newton's gravity defying puzzle.
"But if I don't touch it, I won't solve it for sure." So true lol.

Hello from India ✌ 🇮🇳🇮🇳

Since the genius dice use 3 different types of wood, wouldn't they be weighted and therefore bad for use if you want actual randomness?
Probably, but it is also possible to use woods that have the same density or balance the dice some other way.
