      @@misfittech7743 Yup, they're '43 pennies. While uncommon, they aren't super rare; I think we paid around $20 per roll of 50 coins. The original idea for the puzzle was one where you needed to manipulate the penny with a magnet.

    I think this puzzle deserves a 5/5 rating. It's terrific. If tomorrow produces an even trickier puzzle, well, that should receive 5/5, too.
    It wouldn't make this one any less deserving, or warrant reducing its score to 4/5, or devalue the rating system by applying the Maximum Difficulty score too freely.
    Surely there's room for all kinds of excellence; there needn't be just one example of it. 😁

    It's a 1943 steel penny. The US mint made them of steel because copper was needed for the war effort. The copper penny could be from any time. Swapping the two pennies is a clever subterfuge. Steel is magnetic, copper isn't. (Unless you want to quibble.)

    • @simonw3858
      @simonw3858 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not really sure what point you are making about steel being magnetic and copper not. Was it in reference to Mr P commenting about the pins being made of stainless steel therefore not magnetic? Because stainless steel Isn't magnetic.
