Ive had the Garmin R10 for 2 years. Its a great piece of kit but recently purchase an MLM2Pro which is fabulous because of the video output of your swing. Added a Hack Motion and I am improving at 66 years old. The Garmin is ok but been surpassed for me.
Great video, extremely honest, love that you showed the bad shots that showed the accuracy and flaws of the r10. No other channels have made a better review on this device to your level. Top video, liked and subscribed, keep up the good work.
I was one of the first people to own one in Canada and I love mine. I use the E6 app and I am surprised you did mention it at all since it is free and a lot better than h2h in every way. I think once you get your setup finished it might help. I did get a good deal on the annual subscription locked in as long as I renew on E6.
Great review Alex. I appreciate your sincere honesty in a time when everyone is trying to sell you something. Keep it up. I’ve subscribed for more of your views.
Great for the money! Awesome Golf numbers are pretty darn accurate! Seems like the other day playing OptiShot 2… technology changing so fast! Great video
I have an R10 and all of my shaped shots, draws and fades, show just fine of Garmin app and E6 app - both in my garage and on the driving range. I also find that my distances are on the money. No disrespect, but is there any chance you're just not shaping the ball well?
I have no problem with my R10 showing shot shapes and only use free driving range . I use android phone cast to chromecast hooked to projector and get a full screen.
Me too, only on the range, bad shots no problem. R10 will probably benefit from having a split second longer to trace the ball compared to a studio. It can however have some freak measurements on swing speed (suddenly +20 mph) and the backspin number can be totally off in some sessions. Oh, and once it drops in sleep mode (relatively quickly) no use trying to wake it up... power off/on is the only way forward.
Have you tried any other launch monitors? what would you say is best for a high handicapper actively trying to get better and get more information about their swing?
Yeah so for me I’ve tried GCquad, SkyTrak, MLM2Pro and the Garmin… Obviously the more you spend, generally the better in terms of accuracy and access to different software you get, but you need to be able to interpret the data well to really get the most out of it I would say 👌🏼
Distance wise I’ve felt it’s definitely more accurate with the RCT balls, it calculates the back spin much better but still has a bit to improve on shape wise! It’s still an amazing device and I don’t for one second regret getting it 👌🏼
Tnx for telling the truth about sidespin, it sucks at it and soooo many reviewers say nothing about this or simply lie about it, mlm2pro is better but then you have a massive yearly fee for just that's shape shoots, there's no good cheap device as of now, period.
I play of a 6 HCP, and put the drop from 25 HCP, down my R10 and awesome golf. With the kids too I do use the Home Tee Hero ( needs to set at 3-4000ft for social or a practice round to an up coming course visit. GS Pro is my indoor choice winter go too. It is fine with foiled taped balls. As for a gaming pc an I5 with a 1650 graphic card is fine for 1080 image too. Refurbed PC unit for £300.
As a unit for simple set up 10/10. At the club practice area, Junior and newbies coachingm. i run the PRGR and the R10. System here is the 10-12 students get 10 shots on each unit stepping 1 spot up every group. Awesome and the R10 can hold its against the club PGA mevo+ with £1500 of bolt on's. Foil taped balls make a huge improvement.
It captures the back spin better as that becomes then calculated, but in terms of spin axis to get the shape of a shot that is still only assumed based on other factors! Definitely helps accuracy in terms of numbers for sure !
I’ve used rct and I also bought a roll of hvac metallic tape. I cut a small dot out and put it on the ball. I have the dot facing straight up at address and my shot shape is pretty damn close to what I’m getting on skytrak at the same time. I use the r10 in the side yard and range and skytrak in the garage when the kids are gone
I made the mistake of buying one. It will not work without an internet connection. We have a cottage and it won't work. To me it makes it useless to me. Flightscope to me is a much better unit.
I’m really interested in the content, but your audio is just so bad, such a shame. (Managed to plow through, I’m someone that wants to use it to improve, the accuracy would thus be quite an issue)
There is no better device for the money. The camera based launch monitors are ridiculously over priced. £1000's for a plastic box containing cameras you would find in a mid range android phone, then there's the yearly subscription scams. It is what it is. "Hey it's golfers, let's rip them off".
@@AlexWardGolf David Maxfield just uploaded a video, showing the R10'S shot shaping ability v SKYTRACK plus, and the R10 was showing pretty much the same ball flight as SKYTRACK. Take a look.
What did you find wrong with it? There's known inaccuracies if you don't have good distance from ball to unit or ball to net. Using RCT balls seems to give the best chance the unit can pick up the ball data correctly too.
It has its drawbacks for sure...for me, it was the lack of spin axis giving you a real false sense of security with your practice. Even with RCT balls it doesn't help the side spin axis
@@MattHartley-mx5pw i found it read about 6/10 shots. My son has a fast swing and it would only read about 4/10 for him. I had exact measurements and location for the device and still poor results.

Sounds good! I haven’t had the chance to give the MLM2Pro a go yet sadly but looking forward to trying it!

Yeah it’s moving quickly! I do like the look of the Uneekor mini as a next option !
Best review so far
Thanks man! Appreciate it a lot !

Believe me, I would love to be hitting the ball as straight as I do on my R10! lol
I have no problem with my R10 showing shot shapes and only use free driving range . I use android phone cast to chromecast hooked to projector and get a full screen.
May be better through casting and not IOS! I'll give it a try!

Is it more accurate with shot shape with the rct balls or the releftive tape? I have everything to builf my Simulator, but I about a week out.

It’s annoying for sure, realistically you need to be upgrading to that next level up for some real accurate data !
Think MLM2 Pro is better option if you are ok with Yearly Subscriptions..
I’ll have to give it a real go one day soon and compare !

I have a gaming laptop, do you think it would work with a r10?
@@beaudybondar403 what software you thinking of using with it ?
Great review mate!
Thanks man! It really is appreciated 👌🏼
What would be the next one up from the garmin?
You’re probably looking at something like a SkyTrak or flightscope Mevo plus…there is a jump in price but definitely more respected and accurate
Have you tried it using Titleist RCT balls? Does it improve spin capture?

STILL BEST BUY FOR THE PRICE 💪😄👍
I don’t regret buying it for a second!

Don’t worry, I agree with you! New mic will be coming 😅
You can definitely fill your screen even when using iPad. You need a different projector buddy.
Depends on your screen size…mine is a 4:3 whereas the native resolution of an iPad is 16:9 so won’t always fit as snug as you’d like

Luckily i didn't seem to have that issue, there is some interference issues that can come up!
