I'm just coming back to cards after a few years away. It's funny how much I was afraid of lenormand when I first started learning tarot! I caught the lenormand bug on almost the same day I caught the tarot bug about 4 years ago (thank you Facebook memories) and I am in love with how quick and to the point it is. Your videos are a tremendous help. I have a couple decks from years ago but also have ordered the primal lenormand as well as the pixie astounding lenormand... just to tie in my tarot roots :). By the way, your videos on memorizing the numbers of the cards were INCREDIBLE! I have THE WORST memory and two days later I remember all of what you said. Bravo!

Overall Good introduction to meanings of the cards. I like your analogy of driving through the fog with the Clouds. I'm seeing many people just reading this card as "confusion" but this card can be very serious and this is often overlooked. Accidents happen in the fog, people go missing in the mountains often due to poor visibility, being on a plane going through turbulence can be frightening and occasionally can down a plane. Not to mention all types of storms both meteorologically and metaphorically (in conjunction with the Scythe for example). And of course, the King of Clubs (head of the worst suit in this form of cartomancy )can be a nasty bit of work if this card were to stand for a man in a reading, which happens from time to time.

Hey Butchie. I come from a Christian background too. I don't call myself a Christian any longer, but I get your struggle. This goes beyond the scope of this video, but look into the history of your faith. So much of what is taboo by the Church today was a potent part of it all before the Catholic Church started to form itself...which is where Evangelical faiths came from as well. Astrology, oracles, "magic", crystal energy, and more were a functional part of those ancient peoples that formed today's Christianity. It's a shame it's all been segregated, separated, compartmentalized, one being "good" and one being "bad". I'm glad you've opened up your mind and heart. Blessings!!

There are alot of surprises along the way that you will find in the cards, surprises that will astound you. I do have strong intuition, but everyone uses theirs differently. I've honed it heavily through the cards, but have worked with mediumship and other avenues as well and am constantly making new discoveries. It all depends where we put our energy. xo

I have a difficult time hearing and absorbing the information you offer because of the music volume and and speed. So you will find that many of my videos, or even most of them, don't have music except in the intro where the captions are shown with the title, then it is off. Dear Connie Playing card divination is amazing. It is similar to Lenormand in some ways. Really uncanny results. Harder to remember without a pictorial reference, I think. But similarly forward and blunt.
Hi there. Tarot is a discursive system with 5 suits (if the Major Arcana is considered a suit). Lenormand does not have suits (any playing card insets are secondary to the readings). Tarot is often read using sites positions. The cards answers the spread topic. You can speak at length in one card. Lenormand has no spread meanings. The question you ask provides specific context. And multiple cards are used to formulate a string of concepts for one sentence. There are more, but those are the basics. An "oracle" can be anything the creator wants it to be. It does not require a system but could be one. Both Tarot and Lenormand are different types of oracles.

Hello - I am learning allot from you so thank you. If I may please ask a question. The poems that go with these cards, are they to be taken 'literally'. What I mean is: #11 - Birchrod. It says husband & wife gone amiss. I personally see this as a couple card. They are probably going to separate? Or if I am asking why have I not signed my new jobs contract, could it mean, the other person is working in their notice, once they are gone, I then start my new job signing my contract? Beginner. Name of this Deck. Which do I purchase Lenormand 32 cards or Lenormand Grand Tableau 78 card deck? could be off on exact numbers of cards..approx....This is the most confusing for me at the moment. I do read tarot .T
Hi Gabriel, You can, but they aren't necessarily part of the Lenormand. Though that ship card is about travel, so the meaning is appropriate in that case. I would be crazy to tell you not to pay attention to psychic flashes, but at the same time, be sure not to tarotize the cards too much or the readings can get sloppy.
Thank you for clarifying some of this for me. I am new to Lenormand and the deck I purchased called Lenormand Oracle by Laura Tuan came with a book that is proving to be worthless with it's meanings and spreads. It also gives reverse meanings, that from what I've read, traditionally don't belong in Lenormand. My deck is like yours but bigger with white borders. The only Blue Owl deck I can find has versus instead of the playing card suit insets on the top middle. Where can one some like yours without buying a vintage deck? Thanks again!

it's 5am, I can't sleep because A. I've eaten too much chocolate, and B. I'm learning so much from you that I'm too excited to sleep!!! Your method makes me feel like I'm a very intelligent student, so I want to keep learning... I'll sleep tomorrow (I mean today). The 19 card, the tower, I remembered it as 9/11, the Twin Towers.. Now you say it's big business, it's even easier to remember as the twin towers = the world trade centre! I LOVE lenormand. I'm probably ditching the tarot. xx

I used only the Lenormand for a couple years because it was so powerful, and put the tarot aside. Now I am back to both, as I really appreciate the psychological perspective and internal workings we share that are expressed so beautifully through the tarot. I also find it a bit more "polite" than Lenormand, which can be so blunt I need to temper the interpretations when they come out of my mouth.

Not sure anyone is still reading this in 2020. But the Mountain card to "ME" is that mountain card has to be conquered. I've had many, many mountains trying to block me in my life. I do what the German engineers did when building the autobahn. I blast that mountain. It's your power, it's your destiny you crave. You have the power to overcome that mountain. YOu can try to climb it, find a way around it or you can blast it away. My own interpretation.
Hello, I’m new to lenormand and I don’t really understand how the interpretation of a heart surgery can be reached with the scythe/heart card. I look at those cards and see- remove from your life the relationships that don’t benefit you. I will admit that I started with tarot decks and I can’t help but see the symbolism of the images. I’m am trying to stick to the key words- as I recognize it’s a different system. Still I’m not sure how the mentioned association was made.
Hi there! And welcome to the Lenormand journey! This is a very literal interpretation of the cards, especially if a health question is asked. Scythe can be a sharp object or instrument, something metal. A syringe, a scalpel, knife, hedge trimmer, even a lawn mower (if with Clover). And the heart is the literal heart. So this is a surgical tool on the literal heart. That's just one way to interpret these 2 cards. Great question.

The original Lenormand set was sold as "The Game of Hope." It had a few purposes, and was meant to be several games that traveled in a small pack in your pocket for parties. The passing cards are to play Piquet, a popular (at the time) card game of tricks. So you'll notice some playing cards are not in the deck, as piquet uses an abbreviated deck. The other Lenormand images are part of a board game. You line the cards up in a grid like we do for the Grand Tableau, and markers were used to move from space to space like in Monopoly. You'd move forward more spaces if you landed on a positive card, and back a few spaces if the die land you on a negative space (like Chutes & Ladders). Although I know the meanings by heart, every now and then, I get flashes of meanings and/or sentences that somehow relate to the picture but deviate completely from the standard one. Is it ok to listen to that "voice"? Once, for instance, I was asked about an ex and whether he was thinking about making up with the reader and I got the ship. I immediately heard "That ship has sailed". So, what should I do ?

Can the number on the cards be read like numerology? I was also thinking that the diamonds, spades, clubs, and heart can be read like the minor arcane cards. Have you ever tried that? I am new to Lenormand cards, and very curious. Thanks.
An interesting book that talks about the card insets is “Lenormand Thirty Six Cards” by Andy Boroveshengra. Although the card insets aren’t necessary to learn to read the Lenormand, especially at first, I happened to read this book first & the insets actually helped me wrap my mind around learning the card meanings via the general meaning of the inset suits & the relationships between them. The spades are general the pleasant “growth” cards, the clubs are generally harder to deal with, for example; the court cards in the suits help with remembering how they can be descriptive of people. It sort of brings the cards to life through personalities. Like the King of Clubs is the inset card of 6- The Clouds & the Clouds can kind of clobber you lol. The King of Spades, the card inset on 30- The Lilies, is a happy, peace-loving gentleman nurturing his family like a garden of lush flowers-some say this card can also have a sexxi tone; to me he is benevolent, slightly rakish King Gomez Addams, patriarch of the family. (Gomez actually might be a little young for the Lilies card, but it works for me). The Queen of Spades is 9- The Bouquet, and so on. Gomez thinks he is the luckiest man in the world because he has his beautiful Tish-they are the ultimate romantic couple. According to this book, while Hearts are love, they aren’t exclusively romantic, but also platonic and familial-the author says romantic relationships are actually found more explicitly in cards from the Spades group. I’m not sure if this is the same in the French system, but at any rate, it is kind of a fun way to help remember meanings IMO.
What if a man shows up (on a love reading my ex )on how he feels about me ... shows up I did the cross one and I added him in the center and on top of him is the other man card this deck has . What does this mean
Remove the doubled people cards unless you are doing a same-sex reading, or a reading requiring characters of the same gender. Your deck should otherwise only contain one Man and one Woman card.

So you will find that many of my videos, or even most of them, don't have music except in the intro where the captions are shown with the title, then it is off. Hi there. Tarot is a discursive system with 5 suits (if the Major Arcana is considered a suit). Lenormand does not have suits (any playing card insets are secondary to the readings).
Tarot is often read using sites positions. The cards answers the spread topic. You can speak at length in one card.
Lenormand has no spread meanings. The question you ask provides specific context. And multiple cards are used to formulate a string of concepts for one sentence.
There are more, but those are the basics.
An "oracle" can be anything the creator wants it to be. It does not require a system but could be one.
Both Tarot and Lenormand are different types of oracles.

Hi Donna Leigh. :) I'm coming from a tarot orientation. In tarot, I will often add the numerical values of the cards and reduce them to get an overall numerical card vibe. Can this be done with Lenormand as well? Many thanks for sharing your knowledge. ~ Marilyn from Tarot Clarity
It can be done, but it's not a traditional method. I don't do it..it isn't necessary. All the information you need is there without that information.

Hello - I am learning allot from you so thank you. If I may please ask a question. The poems that go with these cards, are they to be taken 'literally'. What I mean is: #11 - Birchrod. It says husband & wife gone amiss. I personally see this as a couple card. They are probably going to separate? Or if I am asking why have I not signed my new jobs contract, could it mean, the other person is working in their notice, once they are gone, I then start my new job signing my contract? Hope I make sense. Thank you x

You can, but they aren't necessarily part of the Lenormand. Though that ship card is about travel, so the meaning is appropriate in that case. I would be crazy to tell you not to pay attention to psychic flashes, but at the same time, be sure not to tarotize the cards too much or the readings can get sloppy.

Thank you for clarifying some of this for me. I am new to Lenormand and the deck I purchased called Lenormand Oracle by Laura Tuan came with a book that is proving to be worthless with it's meanings and spreads. It also gives reverse meanings, that from what I've read, traditionally don't belong in Lenormand.
My deck is like yours but bigger with white borders. The only Blue Owl deck I can find has versus instead of the playing card suit insets on the top middle. Where can one some like yours without buying a vintage deck? Thanks again!

it's 5am, I can't sleep because A. I've eaten too much chocolate, and B. I'm learning so much from you that I'm too excited to sleep!!! Your method makes me feel like I'm a very intelligent student, so I want to keep learning... I'll sleep tomorrow (I mean today). The 19 card, the tower, I remembered it as 9/11, the Twin Towers.. Now you say it's big business, it's even easier to remember as the twin towers = the world trade centre! I LOVE lenormand. I'm probably ditching the tarot. xx

I used only the Lenormand for a couple years because it was so powerful, and put the tarot aside. Now I am back to both, as I really appreciate the psychological perspective and internal workings we share that are expressed so beautifully through the tarot. I also find it a bit more "polite" than Lenormand, which can be so blunt I need to temper the interpretations when they come out of my mouth.

Not sure anyone is still reading this in 2020. But the Mountain card to "ME" is that mountain card has to be conquered. I've had many, many mountains trying to block me in my life. I do what the German engineers did when building the autobahn. I blast that mountain. It's your power, it's your destiny you crave. You have the power to overcome that mountain. YOu can try to climb it, find a way around it or you can blast it away. My own interpretation.

Hello, I’m new to lenormand and I don’t really understand how the interpretation of a heart surgery can be reached with the scythe/heart card. I look at those cards and see- remove from your life the relationships that don’t benefit you. I will admit that I started with tarot decks and I can’t help but see the symbolism of the images. I’m am trying to stick to the key words- as I recognize it’s a different system. Still I’m not sure how the mentioned association was made.
Hi there! And welcome to the Lenormand journey! This is a very literal interpretation of the cards, especially if a health question is asked. Scythe can be a sharp object or instrument, something metal. A syringe, a scalpel, knife, hedge trimmer, even a lawn mower (if with Clover). And the heart is the literal heart. So this is a surgical tool on the literal heart. That's just one way to interpret these 2 cards. Great question.

I would love to know why traditional lenormand cards have the "playing cards" up top??? Whay do they mean
The original Lenormand set was sold as "The Game of Hope." It had a few purposes, and was meant to be several games that traveled in a small pack in your pocket for parties. The passing cards are to play Piquet, a popular (at the time) card game of tricks. So you'll notice some playing cards are not in the deck, as piquet uses an abbreviated deck.
The other Lenormand images are part of a board game. You line the cards up in a grid like we do for the Grand Tableau, and markers were used to move from space to space like in Monopoly. You'd move forward more spaces if you landed on a positive card, and back a few spaces if the die land you on a negative space (like Chutes & Ladders).

Although I know the meanings by heart, every now and then, I get flashes of meanings and/or sentences that somehow relate to the picture but deviate completely from the standard one. Is it ok to listen to that "voice"? Once, for instance, I was asked about an ex and whether he was thinking about making up with the reader and I got the ship. I immediately heard "That ship has sailed". So, what should I do ?

Can the number on the cards be read like numerology? I was also thinking that the diamonds, spades, clubs, and heart can be read like the minor arcane cards. Have you ever tried that? I am new to Lenormand cards, and very curious. Thanks.
I tend not to overthink the cards and don't mix tarot and its numbers or elements with Lenormand cards when I read. I keep the two systems separate.

An interesting book that talks about the card insets is “Lenormand Thirty Six Cards” by Andy Boroveshengra. Although the card insets aren’t necessary to learn to read the Lenormand, especially at first, I happened to read this book first & the insets actually helped me wrap my mind around learning the card meanings via the general meaning of the inset suits & the relationships between them. The spades are general the pleasant “growth” cards, the clubs are generally harder to deal with, for example; the court cards in the suits help with remembering how they can be descriptive of people. It sort of brings the cards to life through personalities. Like the King of Clubs is the inset card of 6- The Clouds & the Clouds can kind of clobber you lol. The King of Spades, the card inset on 30- The Lilies, is a happy, peace-loving gentleman nurturing his family like a garden of lush flowers-some say this card can also have a sexxi tone; to me he is benevolent, slightly rakish King Gomez Addams, patriarch of the family. (Gomez actually might be a little young for the Lilies card, but it works for me). The Queen of Spades is 9- The Bouquet, and so on. Gomez thinks he is the luckiest man in the world because he has his beautiful Tish-they are the ultimate romantic couple. According to this book, while Hearts are love, they aren’t exclusively romantic, but also platonic and familial-the author says romantic relationships are actually found more explicitly in cards from the Spades group. I’m not sure if this is the same in the French system, but at any rate, it is kind of a fun way to help remember meanings IMO.

What if a man shows up (on a love reading my ex )on how he feels about me ... shows up I did the cross one and I added him in the center and on top of him is the other man card this deck has . What does this mean
Remove the doubled people cards unless you are doing a same-sex reading, or a reading requiring characters of the same gender. Your deck should otherwise only contain one Man and one Woman card.
