I just bought one based solely on your review. Will be using during frequent PG&E Public Safety Power Shut Offs in Northern California Foothills. Love your channel - Learning so much! Thanks for putting this out. I forgot about your codes and almost paid full price for a 290. I wish the units with this level of capacity came with a cable screw down port so we didn't have to mess with the cig port or USB.

While watching the review, I kept thinking "I wouldn't pay more than $1K for this. $800 would be a great price...". Then, you announced the price and initial discount. Perfect for this niche of the market! (I was comparing pricing to the Suaoki G500 and EcoFlow Delta 1300.)
Disclosure: I own two Suaoki units (G500 & PS5B) and two Delta 1300.

I purchased the Jackery 1000 because of your review and was more than pleased to stare at it during the let’s get started phase. Here is some minutiae that you thankfully omitted from your review but I thought some of your other fans that are considering this fine unit might find reassuring: 4/27/2020
    First charge AC:
Initial Jackery 1000 charge @ delivery 28%, Charged with AC power:
28% to 38% 35 minutes Accumulative time 35 Incremental Min.
38% to 48% 71 minutes Accumulative time 36 Incremental Min.
48% to 58% 108 minutes Accumulative time 37 Incremental Min.
58% to 68% 147 minutes Accumulative time 39 Incremental Min.
68% to 78% 186 minutes Accumulative time. 39 Incremental Min.
78% to 88% 226 minutes Accumulative time 40 Incremental Min.
    88 % to 98% 270 minutes Accumulative time 44 Incremental Min.
The last 2% very slow wind down that takes about 45 minutes to 100%. I only did the last 2% to test the shut down @ 100% feature and of course it worked perfectly.

Cool review, seems like a good product, kinda of pricey, we have been using the Beaudens solar generator we purchased based on your review and it does a great job, plus we purchased a Enkeeo 2300 Watt gas generator, both these are backup systems for our sailboat. We have 600 watts of solar panels on the boat that supply almost all the power we need daily. We just installed a 1600 watt Missouri Wind Turbine, well be running some test to see how well it does compared to the solar panels......

As an Electrical Engineer with 40 years experience, I am very pleased with your informative review of this product feature/functions that many people would not discover until after purchase. The only critical info missing was the (planned) solar panel charge rates. Also, additional review of the sine wave characteristic while under higher loads (and motor loads) would be interesting since many inverters develop severe 'hash' riding the sine wave when under load. Excellent job!

13:55 - The should have put a variable user-defined low/no wattage shutdown timer so that the user can decide how long should the device wait before it shuts down automatically, it could be something variable for example, between 1 hour and 24 hours, something like that would have made more sense in my opinion rather than the company blanket raise it from 3 hours to 12 hours fixed for all.

  • @AsTheWheelsTurn
    @AsTheWheelsTurn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

it seems like they make a decent entry level type product, I feel like you represent it truthfully and it would be great for most people as a recreational portable power bank for charging things but as a replacement for the power bank in my van to run a tv lights fans small fridge ect and be in use all of the time, charged by my solar it just wouldn't cut the cake.I put together my own system for less than the cost of this thing and it works pretty well but its large (deep cycle liquid acid batterys, good sized inverter, mppt controller that is also not small) and I had to know what I was doing to build it.100% not portable though, I'd love to have something I could remove easily from the van and use it elsewhere.one day the perfect product will come around and ill buy it for sure but needs to be reasonably affordable, expandable and serviceable. wet dream.

Well for the capacity only being 93% it's more of losses from the buck converter for the regulated output which 93% is pretty good I don't guess they have anything output connected directly to the battery

Only thing that everyone is complaining about is 200W Maximum input, so 3 100 Watt solar panels, (60 watts under load roughly)

@hillbilly tech Ive charged my jackery explorer 240 with 60 watts even though its rated 42 maximum on the input, have for over a year now. The 200 Watt limit isnt the end of the world and this would be a thing to test

Great early bird review.!! Pluses, minuses, comparisons, users..!! The only true negative is the solar charging input capacity. Dr. Hobo, you've hit it out of the park..

I always go to my favorite Dr for Solar Generator reviews..Now, I am waiting for a 2000 Watt solar generator to power my Small RV.and not count totally on the generator..with a lithium battery. Looking forward to the following review.

I like the fact that the directions actually have pretty good grammar must because this is an American company. For the life of me I don't understand why they put a light on this. I mean really a "22 lb flashlight" Jackery could have same a few $$$ but knocking this off. I really like the fact that the 3 or 4 hour shut off is now extended to 12 hours. This is a huge selling point for me. I have March 18th set in my calendar. Interesting to see that the 500 is now sole out on Amazon.

I like it. The Inergy Apex only can provide 500W continuous even though it has a 1500W inverter! POS. I cancelled my order with them when I found this out by reading the manual. I do have a GZ1000. I bought it open box for around $750. I put an MPPT charge module in it and got two of their 25A charge bricks which lets me charge it at ~500W in off AC. So, my total cost is $1150. It has a 1500W inverter which it can provide continuously (I have tested that). But it weighs 45 lbs - it is a beast. I am happy with my setup but this would have been a really nice option had it been available at the time. Seems like all of these products have an absurdly low max. input voltage rating. Seems like it should be more like 80V at a minimum with a preferable 100V rating.

Who told you that about the Apex? I regularly power over 1,000 Watts with my Apex for extended periods of time. I know what spec you're quoting, and I saw the review that called that out. I asked them about it. It was just a suggested discharge rate to maximize battery life cycles, not a limit. There are two videos on TH-cam that show an Apex putting out well over 1,000 Watts continuous. I know one of them is Full Moon Adventure Club. The other may have been Armory Survival. It's true, my Apex does shut down fairly quickly at 1,500 Watts, but I don't have a problem with that design. Who uses solar batteries this way? Why would I spend at best 2.5 - 3 hours charging my battery with solar (fastest solar there is) and then empty the battery in only 40-45 minutes? Doesn't make sense to me. I'm happy with mine.

Thank you for asking Jackery why they do not use LiFePO4 batteries. I figured it was the weight, but did not know for sure. But I definitely did not think it would DOUBLE the weight, wow. That said, I still would prefer LiFePO4 technology in my batteries. I will put up with the weight for all the other advantages.
By the way, my 1200 Wh LiFePO4 battery weighs 28 pounds. I would think that 44 pounds that Jackery said this would weigh if they used LiFePO4 chemistry in the Jackery 1000 might be a little high.

It would probably charge much faster from the cigarette lighter if you hook up the 300 watt pure sine inverter you said to buy from a few months back. Good review. : )

The cable is the parallel cable to use with Jackery panels, not MC4 for use with 3rd party panels.

Ya these should have a battery jack that you could plug in a battery pack and they could sell just a battery also the only problem is people that don't know what they are doing or care and plugin in batteries at different SOC and if you current limit the current between the 2 there are extra losses
