    I love the cardboard template idea. That would work in my small garden too.

      Yes she was! That's actually not the neighbor- that's my sister, Emily :) She's the other 'sister' behind 'Two Sisters Flower Farm'... she really enjoys helping me out in the flower field when she can :)

    Absolutely love the behind the scene. What do you amend with otherthan cow manure? How much space between rows, how do you get that raised center, is that just a single tape to water that row, how many plants, tubers to fill 1/16th acre, what kind of yield do you expect? So many questions and whst typr of tractor do i need & extras for the tractor... think i just need to come be your helper for a week😂

    I live in Michigan too and just planted some beautiful roses . I have a very big bag of different flowers seeds but I didn't plant them yet . I don't know if it's too late to plant them now or they should be good

    This is such an instructive video! The cardboard spacing is genius! Are you using regular plastic or bio 360? Thank you for taking the time to break down the process for us beginners! Following.

      I'm so glad to hear you found this video helpful! This is standard, regular plastic mulch, not Bio 360. Best of luck to you this season!

    the coastal zone in me cant even imagine putting starts out that late, they would never have time to mature
    It doesn't freeze hard here but it never gets warm and sunny so things take ages { I'll start zinnia march first plant it first week of april and wont start getting flowers till mid july }

    What would you suggest spacing for Strawflowers, Calendula, Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Greater Quaker Grass, Chamomile, Xeranthemum. I was able to find your suggest on other flowers in a few of your other videos. I love you channel!

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much! The back of your seed packets can give you more info as to what each plant requires to thrive- but if it were me, I'd plant it all using 9 inch spacing to keep it simple :)

  • @summerskyegardens

    Hey there just found this video. Super helpful to see the whole process! What made you decide to use plastic mulch instead of landscape fabric? Can you comment on cost and having to rebuy every year and plastic waste? Thanks!!

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe in using what you have available to you and that plastic mulch layer was something that my grandparents already had so it made sense to us. 💛 And even though the plastic is single use, the money we save from irrigation for instance (the plastic mulch has much better water retention) means that cost wise- we actually save money. This is just our experience though- always do what works best for you.

      @Two Sisters Flower Farm Awesome thank you! One more question if I may, do you think it heats the soil up more? Just thinking ahead since I'm in a hot climate, trying to figure out what's best for me

    What do you do with all the flowers? Who do you sell them to ?

  • @judithkeyes7232
    @judithkeyes7232 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello. What do you do with all that plastic at the end of the growing season?

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! At the end of the season it gets discarded/recycled. It’s such a thin layer of plastic that we aren’t able to use it season after season. Much thinner than landscape fabric. 💛

    How do you keep grounhogs from eating your dahlias? I can no longer grow them because of this .

    • @Parmesito
      @Parmesito 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can pre sprout them in pots if it's the tubers they eat. I'm in Ireland so we need to pre grow our tubers for a couple months indoors as our growing season isn't warm/long enough otherwise. You can do the same if you have a greenhouse/polytunnel.

  • @ElderandOakFarm

    Are you using bio 360?

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, this isn't Bio360- it's just standard black mulch; 1.0 mil thickness, I believe :)
