Ever since I replaced the gear selector on my 67 Lightning with a made in India piece it will not upshift from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th until I give the shifter a bit of downward pressure, then it will upshift to the next gear. Now I see the only good part on it is the splined shaft😉

Nice repair that Ade , damn those Fred Flintstone pattern parts!
Notice the alien critters are still getting at your audio in the garage.

Hi Stu, seem to have got the noise down to wifi interference from certain lights. Have been looking at Sony video cameras to be honest.... Now I'm free at weekends again we must catch up and hit the car boot sales again, when's that Duffield one on?

Great video, thank you! I was going to do the same repair on my A65 as the splines are shot, and searched to see if someone already did that :) I bought a new shaft and want to re-use my existing selector - it changes gears beautifully so I don't want to replace it. I got one question for you: You drilled the body to 10.01 mm, what diameter did you use for the 15mm length of shaft that you pressed into the body? Thanks!

Thanks for watching the video, I had to rewatch it to remind myself!. It was at the time a 10mm bore in the selector and 10.01 outside diameter on the shaft, none of the dimensions are set in stone, just a light press fit or even a sliding fit and loctite retainer, personal choice. Best wishes, Ade.

Thanks for the video, Ade. This is exactly what I need to get done for my ‘59 Tiger Cub project. I have a new shaft from Greystones, and was keen to see the process for installing it on the old selector. Regards, Alan

Nice Job Ade, have you the facility to machine those splines your self.
    Alan.

Hi Alan, I do have dividing facilities so could possibly make a new shaft if needs be. The supplied inferior part was useless anyway so it came in useful, but as you probably noticed, neither genuine or pattern items were very high tensile steel.

Ade, is this something you would consider doing as a service pal ? I am struggling to find anyone who can help, I came across your video in my search and you certainly know what your doing. All the best. Dave.

Drop me an email at adegwilliam@gmail.com and I'll see if I can assist. The channel is my hobby stuff mostly, and I'm currently struggling with a time shortage issue, hence no recent videos. Hopefully that may change in the new year. best wishes, Ade.
