absolutely spot on. The worst thing eny one could do ti this bike is restore it. saw a brough superior on Friday that was been ridden, looked like it had a oil rag rubbed over it now and again , last time it was painted is when it left the factory.
I think I like the calm and serious Jay even more than the comedian. Great motorcycle btw, I love the old Indians and you have some really cool ones in your garage.
I had a smile on my face just watching jay ride the classic, there is nothing like looking at one in real life, my wife's childhood friend's husband had a ww2 model harley with sidecar, it still had the original army paint, sidecar with windscreen, .30 carbine saddle, and all of the accessories used with the military model, I wish I had the money to buy it, for her husband passed away and the bike just sits there. a wonderful piece of history.
I love old bikes I'm restoring a 1946 Indian Chief thanks in part to Kiwi Indian parts and Starklite parts where I'm getting most my parts to get this old girl back on the road. This is my third Indian Chief and I'm not selling this one. Back in the early 70's you could still find them but not now. I like all Jay's video but the vintage motorcycles are my favorite. I learned to ride on a 38 Indian Scout my neighbor had in the mid 60's. I know you won't remember you meet so many people but I met you at Bike week in Daytona like 30 years. You looked over my fully restored 1972 FLH in front of the Crazy House salon if I recall. Thanks for the video..
My Great Great Grandfather was the first Indian "motocycle" dealer in Brooklyn, NY. I have a picture of his dealership in 1931. Crazy to think those were being sold in there. What a beautiful machine!

Love to see Jay do another vid of that car since NBC will never release it.

Well done Jay. That's exactly how I use to start my 46 Chief that was acquired by my father from Sammy Pierce Cycles in Alhambra Calif. in 73. The 101 Scout is still my dream bike. Thanks for the info on the book.
I think I like these kind of videos a lot more for a change where it's about one of Jay's vehicles and he talks the whole time about it instead of having someone else talking back and forth about their car as it's more authentic if it's Jay's own and you can tell by his emotion and interest over his own cars compared to someone else's. Also this video felt more down to earth and personal unless that was because Jay was tired lol.
Agreed. Superb video, i forgot how good the videos were that he did on his own vehicles. Im going to have to go back thru the archive and relive some classic jay leno moments. Anyone remember that bug steam powered truck thingy that almost caught fire?? Classic Leno

They were I guess still quite cheap and parts were easy to find. Although that may have something to do with why to this day they are my all time favourite bikes!

I agree with CRQ when Jay is on something from his collection you can really see the joy that collecting these cars and bikes brings him and he invites us in for the moment and to me that is a real gift so Thank You Jay for taking us along I really enjoyed this one
+kevinsdb1 Heh, me too this morning. The first thing I thought was 'Oh Jay's got one as well'! Nice episode, interesting to see how these old bikes were set up.
Admittedly, not a "bike guy"- loved every minute of this video! Well done Jay! You consistently produce the best motoring media- on any scale, on any platform. Thank you!
I'm just so jealous, if only I could afford that bike. I would take perfect care of it, go over it everyday. Keep it entirely original, put it in my living room at the end of every evening. Wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee and ride it out every morning, just nice and slow. Incredible. Maybe one day.
He apologized for the slow video - but I prefer these. I get bored with the SEMA high horsepower etc. We see that everywhere else. I got onto Jay because he did the weird stuff we never see. More of this!
I'm Irish and am ashamed that I'd never heard of Charles Franklin before watching this. Bizarrely, in a country that is always celebrating its own sportsmen and achievers, he has been skipped over in Ireland. So I went and bought the book, "Franklin's Indians", and have just finished reading it. Good to see that the authors of the book have now put a memorial plaque on the house in Drumcondra where Charles Franklin was born. There is a video on TH-cam of them unveiling it.
DO MORE OF YOUR OWN CARS AND BIKES, ACTUALLY DO O N L Y YOUR OWN CARS AND BIKES!!! That's why I sub'ed in the first place. Do a full walkaround in the garage as well. (Sorry for shouting, but I hope they see it easier then)
Amazing, flatheads can actually sometimes be the better design choice at low RPM where flow impedance isn't that important. It looks amazing too ! Most authentic and honest car channel on youtube.
These are the videos I enjoy the most. Something from his own garage, that's obviously near and dear to Jay's heart. Have no doubt after filming was done, he just went down the road for an extended cruise.
Jay, please don't apologize for the "slow" episode. My dad rode Indians cross-country in Minnesota back in the 30s. I know nothing about his bikes, so this was really interesting. That said, I can enjoy listening to you talk in detail about anything in your garage. Don't worry about boring anyone! Great job!

Would like to hear from Jay himself everything is back on tracks and whatever was wrong is gone.
It sounded like he was fighting a cold.
I watched that whole vid with a massive grin on my face. What a machine, and so nice to see it being kept with its patination intact.
So anyone here know about Burt Munro and his Indian, he got his Indian to go over 200mph, the record still stands for the fastest under 1000cc.
Look him up
183,58 mph
When I die I wanna come back as Jay Leno. These are the kinda toys that keep life interesting. Love the story's, and the knowledge he gives you about all his vehicles. Stay well Jay, thanks for the tutorial !!
Great Episode! Not that the latest ones are bad...but like you said...slowing down and looking at an old girl...sounds strange but i can "feel" the love. Which i also share. Thanks!
No joke this may be the most beautiful Scout around, thank you for putting the video together on it, I've watched this over the years so many times now, simply perfect!
Jay's scream at 4:27 got me
Doh!
I agree with CRQ when Jay is on something from his collection you can really see the joy that collecting these cars and bikes brings him and he invites us in for the moment and to me that is a real gift so Thank You Jay for taking us along I really enjoyed this one
You sound tired Jay, get some rest and thanks for sharing!
+Calyn45 its funny I was just thinking the same thing I'm like he's either tired or sick
+Calyn45 I thought so too, hope he's OK.
+Ryan Welsh. yep I was thinking the same thing. He's what 65-66 now?
+Calyn45 I was also thinking this as well, I guess age can catch up to anyone of us.
+Ratt Rodd Ummmm....he could just have a cold.
My Dad had one of these Scouts and I can just remember it as a little kid and one picture. Thanks for the flashback.
Jay sounds like he's tying to beat a cold. Get better Jay :)
thought i only noticed. ...
yes ..get better.
+kevinsdb1 Heh, me too this morning. The first thing I thought was 'Oh Jay's got one as well'! Nice episode, interesting to see how these old bikes were set up.
+kevinsdb1 nar he was just partying hard because he has no kids
+mrhookups International treasure, needs to take care of himself. Take care Jay, Australian fan. :)
I'm assuming he's ok now.
Keeping "Old School" alive. Kudos to you Jay! There is no other engine sound like an authentic Indian 101.
Let's see more of Jay's stuff, less SEMA stuff.
Hyatt Busbey how about let see it all? What's the rush?
Tamil ah bro?
Admittedly, not a "bike guy"- loved every minute of this video! Well done Jay! You consistently produce the best motoring media- on any scale, on any platform. Thank you!
Great video. Love the old stuff!
I would for sure have to agree with everyone else, these are the best episodes, just jays knowledge and some laid back education on these vehicles
I'm just so jealous, if only I could afford that bike. I would take perfect care of it, go over it everyday. Keep it entirely original, put it in my living room at the end of every evening. Wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee and ride it out every morning, just nice and slow. Incredible. Maybe one day.
wow! every single video he shows is an inspiring thing for new motorcycle repair technicians like me. Thank you Mr Leno, you're my hero.
(Sorry for shouting, but I hope they see it easier then)
I love seeing the classic bikes from the US. Taking it easy without having to punch it is such a joy.
Thanks Jay.
It is good to slow down once in a while.
Amazing, flatheads can actually sometimes be the better design choice at low RPM where flow impedance isn't that important. It looks amazing too ! Most authentic and honest car channel on youtube.
Really nice, honest bike Jay, and a relaxing video. Thanks for the slow-down.
These are the videos I enjoy the most. Something from his own garage, that's obviously near and dear to Jay's heart. Have no doubt after filming was done, he just went down the road for an extended cruise.
Beautiful bike Jay
i love seeing and learning about the old bikes......I am glad that Jay is keeping them on the road and sharing his experiances with everyone.
this dude forgot more stuff about cars and bikes then all the people who thumbs downed this video combined will ever hope to know
Roe Sham Boe i thumbed down this comment
Jay, please don't apologize for the "slow" episode. My dad rode Indians cross-country in Minnesota back in the 30s. I know nothing about his bikes, so this was really interesting. That said, I can enjoy listening to you talk in detail about anything in your garage. Don't worry about boring anyone! Great job!
