    I hope they keep embracing opportunities like this. That score hurts but you can always learn from opportunities like this playing against the best in the world. We aren’t going to get better if we don’t play against the best in the world. Here is one US fan that genuinely believes we are the last sleeping giant in the world rugby. Keep working boys. Keep grinding. GO EAGLES!

    • @frankerck
      @frankerck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They've been embracing these opportunities for 30 years. The score line hasn't improved, the Eagles' ranking hasn't improved. These events do resupply the bank accounts of the bankrupt USRFU.
      And now the USRFU has floated the idea of hosting the RWC!?!? Here's an idea, how about qualifying for the RWC first. And then, how about making it out of your pool. And then build 25 stadiums and developmental fields in 25 cities w/national coverage like the MLS.
      Then we can talk all about the rugby potential of the Eagles. Until then, it's all nice bar/internet chat.

    Outstanding video. As a New Zealander I could feel an American in me rising up. Well done USA. As you have said, the giant has been woken up, and will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future. Cheers and all the best from NZ. Remember it took Ireland almost 100 years to defeat an All Black team. However, defeating NZ outside of NZ is not like defeating them at home. Not many nations have managed to do this consistently beside the big nations like England, South Africa and Australia. In 2017, the All Blacks defeated South Africa in NZ 57-0 and have regularly put 50 on South Africa in South Africa as well as Australia. US scoring two tries against an impressive NZ side is a massive win for rugby USA. Be good to see American's playing in the local NZ competition so they can capture the NZ moment. God bless America!

    • @slagathor54
      @slagathor54 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The All Blacks have only scored 50+ points against the Springboks twice in 101 games, and neither of those was in South Africa. I'm not going to look up the stats for Australia vs New Zealand but I'm going to assume you are wrong about that too.

    Rugby is a game that allows every participant to learn coordination, strength, intelligence, comradeship, patience, manners and anger management 😀 Your team is your family. Your team is your back up. Your team is your extended arm, running buddy, power lifters, motivators, baby sitters, excuse to being late home and always there no matter what. When you look at the All Blacks, they are all this and more. Every child, woman and man that plays rugby in New Zealand, plays for the love of the game and for most, for the black jersey. It is the greatest gift to any sportsman that plays the game. Go hard USA. We are watching you closely.

    It's important to note that this USA team was far from their strongest.
    With the game falling outside of the international release window none of their Europe based players were available.
    The States have an entire front row at Montpellier, Toulon and Toulouse, and Newcastle's Greg Peterson is their usual lock.
    scrum half Ruben de Haas is the backup at Saracens and Sale's AJ McGinty is one of the best fly halves in Europe.
    Also, due to players needing to be vaccinated to play in DC, a number of regular domestic US starters were pulled from this game.
    A number of players who took on NZ are nowhere near first choice for the Eagles.
    Not that they would have won, but I'm sure the full strength US line up wouldn't have conceded 100.

    For those questioning why their favourite isn’t the number one hard man of rugby…let me paste in the story of Buck Shelford from Wiki
    ‘Shelford made his Test debut for the All Blacks later that year against France in a 19-7 victory in Toulouse, and then was a notable victim of the infamous "Battle of Nantes" in the second Test. Roughly 20 minutes into the match, he was caught at the bottom of a rather aggressive ruck, and a French boot kicked his groin, ripping his scrotum and leaving one testicle hanging free. He also lost four teeth in the process. After discovering the injury to his scrotum, he calmly asked the physiotherapist to stitch up the tear and returned to the field before a blow to his head left him concussed’

    USA should have a states test rugby. Where a rugby team from each state plays in a comp. That will be epic. Like how we. New zealand have the NPC cup.

    USA coach should know that this is not 7s where commiting to a ruck will give more space, this is 15s. You have to commit to a ruck at defense especially to delay the flow of the ball. Contest every open ruck to delay cause if the scrum half is given fast ball that's where the game is fast paced.
    Especially with the All Blacks you have to commit to the ruck even if you're penalized. Just delay their momentum.

    Americans already have some important characteristics you need to do well at Rugby, the rugby culture needs to develop from a grass roots level and they'll be a force. As a South African and a kicking coach I'd Love to help them do that because I could imagine they would appreciate the effort. The influences they are already getting there from around the rugby playing world is going to allow them to develop their own identity and that could be quite a force in the future.

      I was thinking the same thing some of those running backs and wide receivers would kil itl as centres or outside bacck their reflexes are already on point.I said the same thing about S.A in rugby league they would dominate

      @trevorerasmus1605 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leilyndrawiri1858 I hear what you are saying and can see why you would think that, but here's the thing about rugby, we don't have an offensive team and a defensive team to bring on for a particular play to suite the match situation. We have to produce athletes that are capable of many disciplines, from scrums and line outs, to rucking, mauling and defence. Hitting gaps and kicking to passing and covering a team mate. These skills start when we start playing at 7 years old and by the time we end up with a 20 year old player in South Africa from a good rugby playing school, or from most schools with a rugby program these days, you have a player with a 13 year career and that's before they turn Pro. So when you pick grown men for a singular ability to run and catch a ball against a player we have produced then your player will always lose because if we know he's good at that one thing, he might show that skill off 1 time till we realize he's good at that and after that we'll shut him down so he won't get to show or use that skill again. Whereas our players are very physical, a trait that boys are brought up in because of the uncompromising way we are taught to play as kids, often practising against older and stronger opposition at young ages and that's where the toughness is bred into us along with a culture that is quite tough and uncompromising. The USA national team should not be the focus, grassroots development of a culture should be the focus because in one generation you will have created a standard that can be built upon for generations if they want to be smart about it.

    USA needs to find that dark place when playing that's why NZ and SA are dominant, they don't give up till the end cause the game is more then them

    It will be a few decades before the Eagles are taught to play rugby by Americans who have played rugby all of their lives. Rugby is an instinctive game, it's a mental attitude, and all of the top players do things without thinking about what they are doing, they just do it.

    Combined with the other attributes needed such as skill, passion, living and breathing rugby they could easily rise to the top of the table.
