This is so relaxing to watch and listen too. Just like watching a Bob Ross painting session. It is now 11:00pm on Wednesday evening...time now to listen to the soothing sounds of this music and the clanking sounds of metal melting
Tito4re You melted some copper into ingots. "...Good job man your awesome I respect you dude. 😊" I just find it hilarious that he was stroking your ego so hard over melting some fucking copper. But if you derive pleasure from that shit please continue.
I find this so entertaining. I wanna start smelting stuff when I'm old enough but for now, this will definitely do. Do you have the links to your forge or those engraving letters?
Junkies in my country steal wires and shit for the copper in it because it's really expensive. Meanwhile Tito just has pounds upon pounds of copper lying around in his house.
Allot of people collect metal. Usually silver or gold, but low cost metals like copper and aluminum are also collected. 5lb of copper is only worth around $10 at current prices and silver is around $200!
Gianni Bodeutsch here it's Scrap metals, steel rods from demolished buildibgs, plastics ir pretty much any recycalable materials they can get their hands on.
what kind of crusible are you using. I tried an iron one in my charcoal furnance and it basically became an iron oxide crusible (and broke like a toast) and tried in a clay pot and the pot turned into glass and melted with a drop of copper, so i suppose it melts at about the same temp :( I thought yours was iron but now i think it might be graphite maybe? also how long does it last?
Naafi Ilalang i dont think you can use iron/steel for copper, i tried with a cast iron one and it was red hot and the copper still didnt melt, plus mine is a charcoal forge, so its king of oxidizing, the iron crusible became basically pure iron oxide and became britle and broke....tin cans (not actually tin) become paperlike, like very old dry paper that brakes like a dry leaf. storageyardresident Actually, since it's a single object, the singular form of pound is grammatically correct. I.E. He made a 5 lb ingot. Versus; he made 15 lbs of ingots.
Borax is used as a flux to remove impurities from metals, such as copper in this case. The borax allows the impurities to float to the surface of the molten metal.
With a bit of research I've found that, as of August 18th roughly, the price of copper per pound is at 2.18 USD according to infomine dot com and that the prices vary a little between sources and the time you look it up due to market fluctuations. The best thing I can recommend is that you do your research well. Copper bullions/bars/ingots are expensive and are never sold for that price, especially not if it isn't in bulk because you have to take delivery and other services into account. The more you order, the cheaper it will be for you per pound, likewise, the less a customer asks for the more it will cost them per pound. Then there's the question of purity, whether or not you have other metals mixed in and other impurities that could affect the price. Etc etc.
SiLvR PaNdA Looks like he made it himself, there are similar versions made by many like that of Grant Thompson - The king of random, clkindred, Cody's Lab, Mrhomescientist and many many more. With youtube as a valuable resource, if you have the time and the resourcefulness, you can make many things and furnaces come in all shapes and sizes with different materials. :) I'm sure with enough examples you could probably make your own too.
174 dollars for a copper ingot seeing as the price of copper is about 2.20 and its a 5 pound ingot he would be lucky to get 20 dollars and if you see a bullion bar for more it is because of the purity

You need to wear trousers and sturdy boots doing this. Only takes 1 fuckup.
