    I’m addicted to those breakfast burritos and hot picante sauces from McDonald’s, but I think I will prep them on my own using your method, thanks for sharing

      I LOVE the mild picante sauce from McDonalds… have you found any sauce “dupes” or recipes?

    Made these following your directions...AND I had leftover hot sauce from McDonald's. if my eyes were closed I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference

    So if you use Rotel tomatoes you can skip the separate chilis. I do recommend to fry the sausage on the stove as it will save you a lot of time. Freezing the burritos is new to me - I will try it because it would be great to just have one at the ready whenever. They are really yummy! Thanks for making the video. I have been making McDonalds style burritos on and off for about five years.

    I made this recipe and it was closest I found until I looked at the nutritional facts and added a little sugar to the tomato and chilies. Also, it is eggs with a just little skim milk. Now I almost can’t tell them apart from actual McDonald’s ones.

      @@BecauseWeCan2020 No problem! Also, I don't have the cheese slice exact. They use Fronterra I believe which is suppose to have a lower melting point than most store brands. I've tried to match with different brands, but I'm going to see if I can track down that brand.

  • @Fatazz

    For the hot picante sauce, may I suggest:
    Heat a cup of your favorite picante in a small saucepan.
    Then add sriracha sauce, or other favorite hot sauce, to a taste that's just not quite hot enough.
    Mix a half teaspoon of cornstarch with a teaspoon of water and add to sauce.
    Bring to a boil and turn off heat.
    Let thicken.
    Add a little water and a little hot sauce if it thickens more than you'd like.

    Do you thaw the burrito before microwaving and how long in microwave

    • @BecauseWeCan2020
      @BecauseWeCan2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used to take them out of the freezer the night before, but I found that when initially making them, if I had rolled them up before letting the filling cool down enough (oops), they would hold moisture in. Then after freezing and then thawing out in the fridge, they would end up getting soggy. So now I just take them out of the freezer as I need them and heat them while they are still frozen. Less work for me, less likely they will be soggy and takes about 1.5 minutes in the microwave. Each microwave will vary slightly though. Also depends on what size tortilla you used and how much stuffing each burrito gets. Maybe start with a minute, then increase from there until you find just the right time. :-)

    How do you reheat it ??

    • @BecauseWeCan2020
      @BecauseWeCan2020  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These can be thawed out the day before in the refrigerator, or the day of in the microwave. When you're ready to eat them, heat in the microwave for 1 to 1.5 minutes (depending on the power of your microwave). You can also wrap in aluminum foil and heat in the oven, or toaster oven. I find that the microwave is most efficient and is consistent with the process McDonald's uses. :-)

    Tip: If you don't want to open a can of petite diced tomatoes, I've found that using 2T of salsa for the tomatoes works pretty well. The chiles are essential though!

    Do you just take one out of the freezer and microwave it? Or do you put it in the fridge to dethaw it and then microwave it once it's dethawed?

    • @BecauseWeCan2020
      @BecauseWeCan2020  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve used both methods equally well but I usually take out the night before to thaw naturally before heating.
