Agreed! But in my opinion, we just replaced the positions we lost. We still have the same problems. No IDL and no IOL. Until we address these position groups, we will have a hard time in our division.
Johnny rain cloud we replaced cousins and Hunter with better younger players. Not only that we added cap space so that we could sign talented, free agents.
Still need line that they didn't get in FA
@@jeffmanty6721 Lol?? Who did we get that is better? We did alright in free agency, but our holes at Offensive and defensive line with no QB, we will be 4th in the north for about 3-4 years, Basically we will be rebuilding the team in 5-6 years, might be relevant again in 8-9 years

i agree. 2023 vikings were 29th in RUSHING. did they improve the IOL? i don't think so!
And yet several pre-season Power Rankings have the Vikes at 20-23...ugh!! Well, I guess the underdog tag will be okay for awhile!
Better to overlook the Vikes than rank them too high IMO. Let people sleep on them. That's fine.

No one player is bigger than the team. Now, having said that, yes, I do want JJ to have success, but if Sam falls into a groove and wins games, then it becomes his team.
As Vikings fans we had better Darnold plays good or it gonna be a long year.

I think he's gonna have a turn around, not unlike Rich Gannon going to the Raiders after being a bench warmer for most of his career. I think he's in one of those situations.

This team was in legitimate playoff contention without Kirk Cousins, and Justin Jefferson. They were contending for a playoff spot with Nick Mullens, and Josh Dobbs. Between free agency, UDFA’s, and the draft, how are we not significantly better than the team that finished 7-10, that was in playoff contention without key players in key positions. How are we not a nine or 10-win team this year?
I’m excited to best line backer unit in da league best wide receiver unit in da league but nervous about our interior defense and defense backs but let’s go
The one thing I am still worried about is the Interior Offensive Line. And we didn’t draft a single Offensive Guard. The IOL is the weakest spot on our team. Same with the Interior Defensive Line……
You can say “it was kind of unfair to look at Kurt when we had to cut a player to sign a player” but, it is his fault for wanting so much money to play, and not coming in at a reduced rate to help “the whole team”!! Including him. He should have seen more purple and not so much green. He’s a good quarterback, just selfish and a little greedy. And jealous.. 😮😮
My issue with Kirk’s contract was never that it was short term it’s that we paid a guy who was roughly the 12th best guy top 3 money for years, at least if we pay JJ top money he’s the actual best player in that position and feels like value.

Agreed. I think the key will be what we look like in preseason. "Preseason? You're talking about preseason?" Yes...yes I am. If our second and third string guys look weak and JV, like they did last year, it will tell us a lot. Are they deep? Can people step up? Because there will be injuries. Our team last year had zero bench strength and it really showed as the season went on.
Ya Oline and Dline needed an upgrade and we did nothing in the draft I love the turner pick but I would liked to have gotten Bryon Murphy for the Dline kid is a beast

I normally love you, but these takes are so Polly Anna, Gus has won more games then Darnold, Kwesi has shown an incompetence is drafting defense, if they are 4-13, both Kwasi and KOC are done. Did you see the D are end of the year, Flores didn’t get any HC looks because they got torched the last 4 games of the season. KOC is 1-7 in his last 8.
Sam Darnold will take us to the playoffs. Than the Vikings will be like. Hmmm. What do we do about JJ?

JJ McCarthy is ready to start week one.. The tools and upside he has will elevate the Vikings for several years to come.. I think Sam Darnold will be a decent QB this year but he's here to be a mentor for McCarthy..

Sam Is better than you or anyone truly realizes. Did you see how much better he truly is than Baker? The season they played on the SAME TEAM (Sam didn't have cmc). Baker 1-6. Sam 4-2. And the difference was like night and day. 49ers snatched him up real quickly, thinking purdy wasn't going to be ready for halfway through the season. Now you have him. And noone cares, and the fans are upset about it. It's mind boggling . I'll tell you who's not upset about it. Your coaches. But they were shocked by the fan bases reaction to it. Hence why you have McCarthy. Which. Who knows? Maybe hell be good. .maybe not. He was the fifth best QB of this class after all. And he played on a stacked team who ran the ball and played great defense

Why do you continue to call Kirk, Kurt? I'm guessing it's a joke but maybe you had a stroke. As far as Vikings QBs go he was pretty good. Not great, not terrible but pretty good. He was a mercenary when we got him so he never felt like he was a true Viking. So long as JJ McCarthy exceeds what Kirk did, Kirk will quickly fade from our collective memory like other free agent QBs we've picked up over the years.
