I picked up the recent Hedges kit Warlord Games have released for their Epic Battles ranges (so they are essentially for 15mm scale), had no idea what to expect so decided to do a quick review and show how I painted and put mine together.

Very handy set. Im guessing Woodland Scenic's Scenic cement spray would be perfect to keep all the foliage in place. Great video as always Stuart
Thank you, and I didn’t know that stuff existed, I normally use watered down pva in a spray bottle - I’ll be picking some up thank you.
Thanks, I did something similar a few years ago by gluing clump foliage to a old 6mm resin wall, the same principal and very robust, but the trees here add a nice touch. Good to see Warlord supporting terrain.
Absolutely, whatever partnership they have with Sarissa Precision seems to be producing some very useful kits.
I use green scotch pads, for cleaning nonstick pots and pans, cut into pieces then tease them out to befluffy. Then I use stick pins to hold them on a board just to keep in place spray them with glue then sprinkle flock on them.
After they are complete spray with varnish to prevent the foliage from falling off.
Presto ya got bushes. Glue them onto something or leave as is for scatter terrain.
For $20 you can make about a million lol😂
Absolutely Thomas, I’ve done that many times myself, I mention that method in the video. This is definitely a product for those who want to save a small amount of time and skip a few stages.

Absolutely, it’s one of the next ones planned. Sadly I’ve just been a little too busy to get it done in the last few weeks, it will happen in April along with with some French Heavy Cavalry too, but I’m away on holiday for a couple of weeks, so it will be the second half of the month.
Great insight. When I saw these I'd assumed resin, the "assembly and painting required" tag line is copied and pasted on most products. A nice little project all the same.
Javis do some great hedges, sold by the metre as a flexible strip, meant for model railways so you get plenty in a bag. Dab a bit of PVA here and there with a different shade of flock and you have a really good looking hedge with only a little more effort than opening the bag.
Jarvis was going to be my go to I think, but I’ll likely grab some of those for variety.
Very good balanced review. As always for me the trade off is cost v time. Whilst lollipop sticks and cardboard would be significantly cheaper I could think of spending the time in prep on painting figures. These aren’t badly priced and look very good when completed. I had already bought a pack so again this little video is extremely useful. Thank you
Thank you Graham. Yep I agree with you completely, it’s a choice of cost Vs time for me, and these help a little, and are cheap enough that I can justify not making them myself.
I bought them and they're great. Absolutely, there are cheaper and Do It Yourself alternatives. But for a neat, sturdy and polished product, I don't mind supporting my favourite wargaming store. I actually not long ordered a second batch.
That’s awesome. I really didn’t know what to expect, but these are definitely a good alternative to fully DIYing it, I like them.
I quite like them. Certainly saves a bit of time making your own. Plus you could use them for templates if you wanted more.
Absolutely, time is the biggest thing here, and just less faff (well a little less 😂).
To be honest, I prefer the resin hedgerows you can buy from companies like Timecast. You don’t have to make them, just paint them and flock them (if you want to) for a similar price. Thanks for the review.
I’ll have to check those out, if I can get as much resin ones as well for to e same price I’ll likely grab some too.
Hi Stuart another great video, but I still think my old pan scrub hedge sections will work for me lol.
They have the added advantage of not needing flock just cut to size spray black a few green and a light yellow dry brush and your hedge is done
Yep I imagine many will do the same as you, there’s definitely loads of different methods for making hedgerows. I won’t be getting a second set, these will suffice for one style, and I’ll like add some railway style ones and moss/lichen bits as well for variety.
I still have some 6mm pan scrub hedge I made over 40 years ago!
Very fair review. I was definitely curious about this kit just to get some scenery done quickly. I do question if there’s enough flock in the kit.
That was my biggest concern, but if you save what you brush loose there’s definitely enough. Saying that, I wouldn’t have minded a bit more, and I’ll probably use some of my own to add variety.

Personally I enjoy making it myself, like trees and other bits of nature, for one my own trees look more realistic and cheaper than most assembly kits I've seen online (mini trees are overpriced imo).
Yep they’re the kind of product that many will skip because they’ll make their own. I certainly used to, but any time saving is now golden to for me, and luckily they’re not expensive on their own, regardless of how they compare to making our own.
Like you I actually really enjoy making terrain myself, but I do struggle for time these days, so I’m turning to things like this more and more.
Hey, how do you go about making your 15mm scale trees? I'm brand new to this size and kinda stumped (pun not intended)
For trees in general I just buy smaller scale Railway/model trees, N Gauge is a good starting place. Then they’re glued on to coins, covered with Earth texture and flock and tufts added.
Certainly a good product & price if you don't have the option to D I Y I've already got all the stuff to make my own so will just add it to my to do list
Yep, bit of a time saver of you done want to go full DIY.
The value of these will depend on your personal preferences. My biggest gripe with these is the (deliberate?) lack of information on the Warlord site such that it’s not clear exactly what form the hedges come in. For those needing to pay to ship these internationally any value they add over going the DIY route may diminish significantly. I’ve been really impressed with all the Epic releases up to now, these not so much, largely down to the lack of information on the Warlord site. Will I use them now I’ve got them, yes. Would I have bought them had the information been clearer, most likely not.
Yep I didn’t like that the description was so vague, all it needs is a couple of lines saying a mdf kit with flock and clump foliage.

This product is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints not included.
But it should have a frame of unpainted parts so we know what it is. Whats your UK consumer laws like ?
Yeah that’s a very standard description for most of their products. I’ve no idea on the consumer law with that.
I’d imagine the lack of detail is actually a mistake/lack of checking. The roads and river sets mention mdf and self adhesive art. Le Haye Saint and Hugomont don’t mention it’s mdf, but oddly in the ‘tags’ mdf is one 🤷♂️. I’ve just checked some of the ACW buildings and they list contents and say mdf, so it just looks like a few different people are writing the descriptions and it’s not 100% consistent.
@@MiniatureRealms yeah. One thing I am convinced about though. The value of these drops drastically if you start buying multiples. Even just for two, for £36 (plus postage) I can buy an awful lot of flock and MDF!

Yep I think they would, they’d obviously have to represent higher hedgerows etc, but as long as you don’t use too many I think it would work.

When you know( most plastic gaming trees) they are made in China by underpaid workers for nix , the mark up is a farce. Even though these are UK Made to buy them In AUD this Sarissa kit is about $39.00, so I need to buy up to fill a basket to make it worthy. But still dont get much for my 100 bucks worth
Oh definitely, my acceptance of cost Vs time saving is very much based on UK cost/value, that might well change if I lived elsewhere.
