Abnormally large number of comments this video trying to tell me Im doing things wrong. I'm not gonna respond to every individual comment, so will just pin this wall of text here instead. First, and most importantly, I never said Haitham wasn't strong. In fact I believe I specifically said multiple times that he wasn't bad by any means, but I'm unhappy with his kit not having flexibility despite the fact that it feels like he should have more flexibility when you read through his kit. That's all I was really doing this video: an exploration of looking at a characters kit, going "hmm this character has this burst that lets you get more dmg from it if you spend less field time on him, I wonder how well that works and what we can do with that."
That's all I'm doing. In my case, what I wanted to do with a more burst dmg focused Haitham was to use him in conjunction with bursting on Raiden-finding that balance to allow on field time with both units which allows flexibility in dmg output based on situation as well (the strength of this dual dps/high ER Haitham team playstyle was shown with chamber 1 quite well in its ability to adapt to new waves by doing things slightly differently). And yes, his 10 hit burst lasts long enough that it is kinda a form of off field dendro. Its not a very useful form of off field dendro, but it is some additional hidden utility in his kit (hampered by Hoyos specific decisions with his kit, more on that below)
Thats kinda stuff I already said in the video itself, so I'm just gonna assume many of these people didn't actually watch to understabd the point was to have AlHaitham be more quickswappy/low field time by choosing to build around the part of his burst that says he gets more burst dmg with 3 mirrors. Yall trying to gatekeep saying I have to play him another way is literally the reason I do things like this on my channel-to show that there are different ways of using characters in this game. I don't understand how you see me doing something as cool as dual DPSing Raiden/Haitham in a team, getting good results from it, then jump to the comments and say I'm an idiot for not just playing his unga bunga playstyle. I don't care if you want to play him unga bunga, but playing him that way is not what this video was (and I have no reason to make a video about his normal playstyle like for real who the fuck cares to see someone play Haitham the normal way thats not an interesting video). Maybe I shouldnt have formatted this video around my neglect/regret for him, but that was my honest feelings about his kit. You dont have to share the same feelings-we can have different opinions in how we enjoy a video game (if you just learned this today congratulations for growing up a little bit)
Ultimately, I am disappointed in his kit because reading through and understanding his kit at a baseline gives this facade of him potentially being more flexible for teams than he ends up being. He basically has one playstyle and one team format (with the only variety being low much hydro do you want to bring wow), despite having more potential for what I showed this video. And this was because Hoyo decided to limit Haithams versatility by things like his mirrors disappearing when switched off field (they already have a duration tied to them why the heck to they get deleted when you decide swapping a unit is necessary its so dumb) plus the way he generates energy in conjuntion with a 70 cost burst makes it hyper punishing to do a shorter field time playstyle for him. That really annoys me personally, because I find characters to be the most fun when I can see different ways of playing with them. Versatility in different teams and options for different playstyles is MY preference for character kits in this game. And the crazy thing is, the videos I make reflect how I enjoy playing the game. Haitham is representive of a unit that seems like they should be more versatile than he ends up being due to relatively simple and imo arbitrary decisions regarding his design on Hoyos part. That doesn't mean the teams he is best in are weak or that I am calling him bad (again I specifically said he wasnt bad), but he does not reach anywhere near the potential fun that I feel like he couldve had. If you enjoy him thats great-but he doesnt fit the bill for how I enjoy the game.

@@LivingChadIn resume, Alhaitham is really strong, but not that versatile despite having a "mirror management" mechanic, and energy problems if you focus only on bursting.
And that was the point of the video and why he didn't enjoy him that much.
@Solunerra i think this vid mightve reached a larger audience then most your videos, either that or alhaitham stans can't handle the fact that there's more then one way to play a character like him.
First off, I became an Alhaitham main from his first banner. I played other characters before but I never felt like they were my /main/. But he pretty much immediately became my favorite character.
I say this because I’m sorry that people are attacking you on how you choose to play him and that you don’t find him to particularly suit to your play style. So apologies for that. 😭
But I can say that even as a dedicated Alhaitham main, there are times when I purposely use his burst with three mirrors or play him a bit unconventionally at times. This is partly because I don’t always max my rotations unless needed and also sometimes you just don’t feel like thinking. And I find him absolutely fun to play, whether unconventionally or not. My team with him also does a lot of damage that a lot of times I don’t need to optimize his rotations.
That said I have done that thing where you can use his burst and then swap another character and refresh a skill or something and then quickly swap back. For some reason I find that insanely cool just from a..”swagger” perspective? Idk. It feels really cool like an action scene haha. But I have done that successfully and also sometimes found myself using his burst just to get a burst of that dendro damage and application while going in with Raiden.
So in short I’m surprised that you actually made a video on this particular concept! I never would have thought about him being built to play more “off-field”. Either way I think it’s cool and I do think some of your points on if he could keep his mirrors after swapping characters would be a really cool aspect if they added that. That and his energy generation as you said. I do have some energy recharge on him but I think it’s not enough for bursting every rotation in all teams. But it doesn’t bother me that much cause he’s such a fun and comfortable unit to play for me. The burst is extra fun and extra damage in my eyes when I do have it. Also it’s an emergency button if I feel like I have to eye frame. I can only imagine Alhaitham’s versatility if they did add on those extra parts to his kit.

Both of my Kamisatos are benched rn 😭 poor Ayaka never had her time to shine whatsoever despite being double crowned, because I don’t have a good cryo support.
I use my cyno but as an artifact placeholder for other characters, kinda like artifact loadout
@@SolunerraLol I got Ayato early by accident (not mad I got him going for Kuki/Kirara cons mad that if I pulled 4 more singles on Zhongli it woulda been his C2 😢) and have him committed to burst support to keep him from being fully benched. Fav Sword, 4pc Noblesse, 191.1% ER, 83.9 CR 145.6 CD (tragically a better crit ratio than any of my actual DPS that I use according to Akasha). I situationally slap him at the back of my Wanderer team if Fischl needs to be elsewhere (my Alhaitham Kaveh Kuki team) or where she won’t be effective (Thundering Manifestation) (if I need more hydro for shield breaking I slap in Childe instead). On top of Noblesse and hydro app for a buff infusion, he provides a bit of a NA buff within his burst which isn’t irrelevant.
I know you like to use character’s full kits in unique ways which this probably doesn’t meet that because it’s just NA til Fav proc/energy is back then burst but it is interesting to see which normal attackers you can throw Ayato in the back of. It’s also fun for me with C6 Faruzan to see who I can get away with slapping at the back of my Wanderer team for more fun. I’ve used Bennett with him like thrice. One team I cooked I think you’d particularly appreciate is C4+ Kirara as the shield and light dendro app, C6 Faruzan for buffing, C6 Fischl for fast off-field app, and R1 signature set whatever con Wanderer for the fastest NAs + guaranteed A4 from swirl. You can probs replace him with Sucrose for your situation tho, her lower attack speed, NA range, and personal damage are a trade off for more team buffing.

Yeah, on the simplest level he would be sooo much less clunky if his mirrors stayed when swapping lol. They already have a duration tied to them, I dont get Hoyos obsession with limit units like this for most of their on fielders
hoyo hates quick swapping in their team based game for some reason. almost every new unit with installs it gets deleted when they get swapped

How do you use him? I built Raiden, Nahida, Kokomi team for him and it functioned just fine until I replaced him with Rosaria and team improved. Now I dont know how to make use of him

Hello! Hardcore Genshin meta player here. I just wanted to chime in here and say that I love your experimentation and approach here.
Clearly you have enough knowledge and investment in your units to clear abyss, and you outright state in the beginning that this is an experimental team, so I don't understand the level of vitriol you are recieving in the comments.
I just really appreciate when people try out different ways of using units by taking advantage of certain parts of their kit. It's experimentation like that which can lead to fun discoveries, and it can be fun to theorycraft in regard to how to manipulate elemebtal gauge and uptime on a multitude of buffs to maintain a strong DPS window. Though you may have felt disappointed by Alhaitham's kit, this team could shine even more with some optimizations, which is exciting.
When you had a good rotation (difficult with some of the enemies in this abyss) you had 2-3 seconds of cooldown on the burst, which could be used to apply healing to other characters via Bennett for fanfare, while gaining more fav procs. And personally, I would use Noblesse on Bennet for the 5 star stats, mainly to have much stronger healing for fanfare/comfort.

The entire point being was to burst with Raiden. I started the video with a bit talking about that for a reason lol. This necessiates a shorter field time Haitham. And its not meant to be a "Haitham" team. Its meant to be a dual DPS Haitham AND Raiden team. Thats an extremely large difference, because I also want to configure the team around Raidens dmg.
I dont really have interest in playing normal Haitham teams. They are fine, but very whatever to me. Much of my channel content is basically about trying to show what's possible in this game when you disconnect from the idea of a team specifically being "a [insert character name here] team" and move towards thinking about the games mechanics/layers of character interactions to use units differently. Honestly I feel the fact that people have a conception of what a "Haitham team" needs to be at all is emblematic of how he was designed to be very inflexible despite being Dendro and having his mirror gimmick with his burst. The community doesnt use verbage like "Haitham team" for characters with versatility. Its really only used in regards to restrictive on field carries, but Haitham isnt really an on field carry in the same way most units are since most of his good teams dmg contribution comes from many sources than just his dmg. So Haitham teams are really never just "Haitham teams" anyways. Also, the fact that I was using Haitham in a team and clearing without issue (I played very meh or poorly for most of the clears) means this is no less a Haitham team than any other. It still uses him, so its still a Haitham team. Doesnt matter that I choose to use him differently than most do because my goal with the team is different. Sorry for the rant, calling teams a team specifically around one character who is only part of the team may be a pet peeve of mine lol. Its like calling a sports team by one notable individual on the team vs calling it by the team name.

No idea why people are getting so upset in the comments. You obviously made clear that you were experimenting with Alhaitham, and you didn’t enjoy how he is locked into a single playstyle (Completely agree with you, btw).
If people get this defensive about their characters, I’d love to see their face with my full-Maidens healer support Furina. 😂 I’d love to see more stuff like this in the future.

Alhaitham is my favorite character, he's been my main since his banner debut and I happily C6'd him as my first and only limited C6. He's carried my account ever since -- and I'll say it was so fun to watch you explore a different team/use for him and make it work! I don't really understand the complaints considering it's already widely known that he's in the top 3 DPS carries of the game right now. Exploring his kit and seeing where else he could work is a really fun idea. Really enjoyed the video and seeing a new perspective on him!

As long as the teams his unga bunga playstyle works well in seem fun to you, he is a good unit. If you want a versatile unit with different playstyle options I cannot recommend him though lol

I get that the point is to use him unconventionally for you but the fault does not lie with Al Haitham here. There are units in this game that are meant to be flexible and those with somewhat stricter requirements. If you can meet those requirements you can get a lot of good out of those characters. Hyper carries especially are not known to be very flexible which Al Haitham leans very close to being. You’re essentially trying to force a character into a position or role they aren’t good in then saying “I don’t like this” knowing you were never going to like it anyway.
Al Haitham as a character and his kit is perfectly fine. I think he’s just not meant for you because of how you like to play the game.

I really like alhaitham as a character but I'd have to agree with you when it comes to alhaitham's lack of versatility.
I do wonder how well that type of playstyle would work in a more quicken focused team, using nahida as a second dendro unit that gives lots of dendro particles for Alhaitam and maybe fischl for even more energy, and because swirling with anemo while using nahida is a pain in the ass, then it could be something like: Keqing(Raiden, Yae, etc)/Alhaitam/Nahida/Fischl. His ult won't give us much value for being a form of short off-field dendro aplication but whatever.
Don't know how well that would work and if you shouldn't just use Tighnari at this point, but that feels like a good way to make quickswap-haitam work, maybe without having to even use favonius!
Your videos are always interesting. You explain what you are trying to do and how you accommodate it when it isnt just the standard use case. No one ever has anything to say when its a dps build on a suport but a burst support al haitham is somehow playing him wrong.

I know he's role is straighforward onfield dps, but at least he can be flexible and not just a hypercarry -cries in xiao, itto, cyno previous exp-, plus he's strong and f2p friendly since dmc is free (i'll fight everyone who says that he needs nahida to be good)

Yeah Im just disappointed with their specific design decisions that limited him depsite having baseline potential for more. Hes a good unit but his kit is almost completely antithetical to how I enjoy playing the game lol

I was just happy when I finally escaped circle impact for a bit with Alhaitham and Neuvillette, before then it was so annoying when almost every dps I had wanted benny. But it's still saddening that we have really few hybrid characters who bring significant damage to the team both on and off field (I think I only have two actually 😢)

Yep its kinda tignhari ish but technically has some off field dendro (10 hit burst lasts 5ish seconds I think), and its AoE, so for hybrid Raiden he works better than Tig does.

I hope dual-DPS becomes its own kinda meta, spurred on by the Imaginarium Theater, because there are just so many dps options in the game and so much untapped potential there. Maybe not as effective as hypercarries, but very fun.
Yeah right now, dual dps is sadly just not very good damage wise
Also about emblem versus gilded dreams, when you tested the dmg at 7:20, you only had 2 characters in the party, meaning you either gain em or attack by putting 2 more charcters thus closing the gap with emblem.
Yes that would just make Gilded even better though, which was already my conclusion from that test (because more energy for the team with Fav, plus we still do non burst dmg on Haitham even when playing with a burst focus). I cut out some other comparisons and stuff I mentioned vs GD/emblem because the one simple test sufficed (but I added the on screen text)
I really like this approach. I believe Genshin is going for a double DPS route in the long term (considering Navia quick-swap style, and Sigewinne's Burst), and it's good to see how old units would fit in this possible meta.
Imagine if Pyro Archon (or an Artifact Set, or whatever else) buffs everyone depending on how much damage everyone in the team deals (Like an "average dmg for the whole team in X seconds with a cap for each character", to encourage playing everyone in the team as a form of DPS).
That team becomes sooooo much better if you put baizhu on deepwood instead of bennett, like soooo much better
It wouldnt be dysfunctional by any means, but THE main reason I wanted to play a shorter field time Haitham was for the potential dual DPS playstyle with Raiden. Thats why I talked abiut hybrid Raiden at the start. Which means I also want units to buff Raiden. Bennett is much better for Raiden, and is a more than competent healer still with a team like this. If I just want to unga bunga Haitham then yeah, Baizhu is better. But that was not at all the goal
@@Solunerra I'm sure that using Baizhu will achieve way higher damage because of your lack of dendro application (literally no hyperbloom nor quicken when Raiden is on field). Even using Yao-yao would achieve way better results than bennett.
@@unknownkw Ive used Baizhu plenty and one thing I know for sure is that he doesnt apply much dendro lol, it wont really increase the dmg dealt while Raiden is on field very much. I think I also may have test Baizhu in my initial stream leveling but I dont recall for sure.
My guess is I would be lucky to get 3 hyperblooms out during Raidens burst, which is like 50k dmg. Much less than Raiden gets here when played properly with Benny. But that said it does have the upside of keeping quicken up more conveniently, so it should be easier to play. Ive played Hybrid Raiden with Baizhu fairly often before, and overall I cant say its my favorite, but I will try to remember to test out Haitham/Baizhu/Furina/Raiden when abyss resets on Tuesday at least

lol the glitch at 22:25 is super fun to do, once you learn the timing for letting go of his E when an enemy hits you, you can do it pretty much any time you would take enough poise damage to stagger him. I'm an alhaitham main, but the most fun I've had with him is launching him 10,000 feet in the air lmaooo
After bencing Raiden for forever after getting her, then playing hyperbloom and getting bored again and then benching her again, I've finally decided to build hybrid Raiden(since I pulled Cyno's weapon for Cyno anyways), I love to play Alhaitham, Raiden, Baizhu, Nahida team. Seeing you come up with this ahem creative Alhaitham build makes me feel ecstatic, gotta try this build now

Your national team allows your Raiden to trigger hyperblooms for 15k, get 30-40k CA aggravates, 150k burst initial hits, and significant electro charge and some off field aggravates from her off field skill? Thats one heck of a Raiden National team there, how did you bring in dendro without a dendro teammate?
(Yes Im being an ass here because even if it shares some teammembers its not the same thing when one element completely changes what the team is doing and what builds you can do on your characters)

Less dendro application than Yaoyao or collei here. Alhaitham doesn't contribute much towards a team that you made centered around him.

Honestly I do agree a bit with your annoyance at Alhaitham’s lack of off-field capabilities. Looking at his kit after I had just gotten a 3rd main in Wanderer and realizing Alhaitham too would need a whole dedicated team I skipped his debut banner because I was salty. Like how much more fun could it have been to slap him in a Childe team for quick swap dual DPS hyperbloom?
I did pull him on his first rerun because I still liked him tho which worked out because I FINALLY got C4+ Xiangling (yes I did claim 2 of her during Lantern Rite too) for my Childe who is still kinda stuck with her (I’ll get his C4 someday so I can try something different). Now I run Alhaitham in a dual spread comp with Kaveh because I can and now I need Kaveh cons so he can put in a bit more of the impactful on field work. Timing Alhaitham’s burst window to get a Beacon holding but C1 Kaveh skill in is still fun tho.
as a main alhaitham myself i never thought in making him a burst dps for a quick swap as i ackowledge that most of his damage per rotation is centered around his elemental skill, but i think that a idea of a quick swapy is really interesting. That said, i REALLY want you trying if possible in a video a rotation where Alhaitham stacks mirrors and makes quick teammates swap to restack reaction/buffs. And i think your regreting with him is that you were really expecting for another quickswap dendro unit when we already have Tighnari tho, not complaining with your line of thought, but in my opinion what you did was fun and all but it was like you were trying to make baizhu apply as much dendro as nahida lol yk its different roles. I really enjoyed your video and now i wanna try burst dps with my alhaitham too
This team is like the best team for v1 haitham. Then hyv, the partypoopers that they are, nerfed his burst by a lot and thus we get this. Still love him though, my nonchalant king
The way you got him reminds me how I hit Itto. I just wanted Gorou. Not even a bad unit but I don’t touch him.
I just built him, and he benefits from a deepwood user if you use guilded dreams it’s an extra 30 percent Dendro bonus, I use a second dendro and 2 electro (Kuki is in my opinion best for healing and electro application you can also use yelan or I forget his name but I know he does the same sort of thing with his burst as yealan , for weapon I use r5 harbinger of dawn) he does 100k in 4 seconds with hyperbloom and bloom

He’s level 60 with no artifacts and a level 2 weapon
Oh, and personally I also just got Alhaitham because I was after Sethos (I made a 10 pull, Alhaitham came first than Sethos, and then I stopped at C0 with Sethos because I was afraid to get another Alhaitham or a Clorinde xD).
I think, for my account specifically, Alhaitham is useful as a Hyperbloom driver. I could use Nahida or even Baizhu for that if I wanted, but Alhaitham "fits" better in that sense, I'd say. But, I agree 100% with you about his versatility, and I wish I could use him more in other kind of teams.
Even as an on-fielder I don't see much depth on his combos, at most he has the flexibility to use skill or burst to start his rotation, which is meh imo. I mentioned that in another comment, but I really like your approach on trying to use him in another way. I appreciate it.

I find complex rotations and energy management of other characters so tiring
I think this is a pretty posittive showcase of "Dual DPS Al Haitham" more than burst alhaitham
Note the "2 skill wave->3 mirror burst" skill issue - AH can do a 3 mirror burst after 2 skill waves, but the timing is incredibly tight (i'm not too sure if it's latency related) - you can see this in some of your rotations. often it was 2 mirror burst, but sometimes you did get 3 mirror bursts.
I however, don't think this will suddenly greatly improve the team or really change our understanding of the concept.
However, if Natlan does push us towards a "Dual DPS Meta", AH+Raiden could be a compatible duo (depending on hundreds of other factors sure), since they both don't *need* a full rotation and can shorten their rotation without run-ending drawbacks. like say the geo dudes (burst disappearing if you switch out early) or National (highly required pyro energy feeding) rotations, have a very strict rotation. - AH isn't that strict in his rotation.
This kinda showcases how, even though HYV wanted you to play AH on field for an extended period of time, they were thinking about the possibility and option for shorter rotations (which they ultimate got better at that flexibility in choosing when to do your damage, by the time Navia came out)
It's giving something like "i wanna use alhaitham but i don't wanna use alhaitham" 😂

Yes because thats what I wanted Haitham to be useful for lol. I wanted more fun Hybrid Raiden teams and instead I got a clunky Hybrid Raiden team that was interesting to play but overall meh. And I didnt have any other good ways that made the potential for a short field time Haitham make sense. Is what it is lol
A team that I've used in abyss for a while now is Beidou, Raiden, Baizhu and AlHaitham - just so that I can use Beidou and Raiden together and I also don't have to worry about AlHaitham's energy.

I think Nahida with prototype amber and deep wood would be better than Bennett. Furina can use her best set and Nahida will buff to a similar level compared to Bennett, but with em. Baizhu is as option as well, he’d be more comfy and buff less.
I wonder if the team would work with chlorine she has better synergy with Quicken and shorter field time I believe, leaving potential to go back to alt the end of her field time but I think this would raise his ER requirements would be interesting to see

You don't have to aim up for his skill btw. You can aim for the ground and still get his plunge.

Alhaitham needs LOTS of er and crit rate. He is unfun without enough er. To use him, I set up my team, Alhaitham burst, attack a few times, do his skill, attack a few times, do his charged attack, attack a few times, then switch to teammates and repeat. He is great! I got him by accident a while back wishing for a 4 star, and I didn't like using him until I gave him enough er.
I dunno, I find bursting every other rotation to be fine since you can get 3 mirrors without burst with the skill plunge combo … so that one rotation and then burst the next allowing you not having to run a ton of ER
Favonius and nahida exist and with both you can go with 0 er while bursting every rotation just dont play dumb

I have zero ER on him and never have energy issues (I don’t use Nahida) my most used Al-Haytham team is hyperbloom with Yelan (favonius), Kuki (Xiphos moonlight) and Fischl. Favonius created additional particles, electro resonance creates additional particles and Xiphos gives the wearer and the team additional ER based on the wearer’s EM. So maybe this will help you. 😊
You are using him on field as he is designed for… Soluna was trying to make him work off field which is why he had ER issues to work around

The way Haitham generates energy over time with projection attacks means he has way higher energy needs. Favge fixes that with both the ER it gives and importantly the particles right after using his skill (notice how often he was able to get his ult back perfectly on time after getting fav particles this video)

If you play his normal unga bunga playstyle most Haitham players do not consider that "wrong." But imo theres no wrong way to play a character-play them in different ways with different teams/build ideas and find what you like! That freedom to discover different playstyles and what you like is one of the most fun parts of this game imo
I usually use Alhaitham, Raiden, Xinqiu, and Bennett, which imo is a nice team
Alhaitham is one of the top 3 best dps in the game. Raiden is a good support for him…. He is not an off field dps. But you know that… That is just not how he works. Don’t like him? Don’t use him…. Have a good day.

@@iiKhaled0 Because he likes playing his hybrid Raiden and doesn't like using Al as an on-fielder. He's not even really constructing an Al team here, as you can tell when he talks about adding Benny... for Raiden's damage.
Sol tends to build some non-meta builds, and often they work okay, because he does have some cracked artifacts and such. But when you're trying wacky things, a lot of the time, things won't work. And sometimes things work, but not for the reason he thinks, like his Siggy team, where you can dump Siggy for other healers and it performs as well, because it is just Furina carrying. Which is fine, if people have fun with it and it still gets the job done (just don't let it fool you into thinking Siggy is a well designed/balanced character).

He does function the way I played him. I never said it was the best, and I specifically said he wasnt bad. I dont like him because he ends up being less versatile than he had the potential for, which makes him boring to me. I may end up using him unga bunga on fielding on rare occasions, but I probably have 100 other teams Id prefer to play vs that as a priority, hence why I was trying to find a way I liked using him unconventionally. If you arent comfortable with the fact that different people can have differing opinions on how to use and have fun playing a character in this game, then you should take your own advice. "Dont like that?" Then dont worry about it. But its not gonna stop me from sharing my experience, which is that Haitham wasnt fun in the ways I hoped he could be run in. Have a good day.

Okay, first of all, I'm all in for a wacky team that is still fun to use. But seriously, putting Furina on a non leveled up Deepwood and Benny in instructor??? This is legit dysfunctional team. At least change Benny to Baizhu or Yaoyao and keep Furina unchanged will make this team a lot easy to use. Plus, if you really want Alhaitham to be Burst quickswap, might as well change his artifacts entirely to 4 set Emblem and a freaking Harbinger of Dawn

I run a hyperbloom comp (which I believe to be the best comp in terms of cost-effectiveness) with Nahida, Xingqiu or Kokomi, Kuki, Baizhu. It usually shreds anything that is not outright incompatible with dendro, but do you think going for an Al Haitham instead of Baizhu is a good way to go?
To me, Al’s value is that he lets you run a second hyperbloom comp or he replaces Nahida in a hyperbloom comp when you want Nahida for something else (a Nilou team for ex)… He’s not essential for me, but I’m glad I have him as he gives me another dendro driver…
so my problem with your take is that the best and highest dps way of playing alhaitham is split uptime rotation which is a quick swap playstill and need no ER
the on field for 5 years playstyle you are complaining about is just the lazy way of playing him

Best option for account value is yelan better than any other options you mentioned tho key is a huge upgrade for nilou and great for characters like furina Layla kuki and maybe some more that I forgot
Yelan’s signature weapon at C0 is Fav Bow so don’t get her just to fill out a user of Aqua. If you need more single target off field hydro app, sure go for her, but she’s not a must pull when we have so many good hydro in the game & are getting yet another one in 5.0. That being said, she’s the strongest/most valuable unit out of the 4.8 lineup.
As for Key, it’s quite nice in terms of versatility for HP scalers (probs because there are nearly no secondary HP stat swords) but losing to Navia’s axe is kinda eh since many people don’t like to use claymore characters. It’s high base attack, low crit secondary, and a passive you’ll most likely only half unlock getting only the atk% and none of the crystallize reliant damage bonus. No one but Navia is gonna fully utilize it well since the other geos prefer def and the non-geos don’t have Zhongli in their best teams. And if you already have a high refine Serpent Spine, it’s even less worth it.
Aqua has less of this issue with the mostly dead HP passive on other characters because it gives so much crit damage it’s still worth being considered as a stat stick. And unlike a passive that’s not triggered like Verdict’s, free HP can at least help a lil with survivability. For now I’d slap Aqua on a C6 Fischl if you have one, since Oz can be placed close to enemies to get the damage bonus passive & since Fischl has no i-frames in her burst that extra HP might keep her from being OHKOed in some scenarios.

I think u r playing Alhaitham the incorrect way to get the most value of his kit.
U should use his ult first and then use his skill (to regain stacks), he can gain 1 stack with his charged attack, but if u want a 2 carry's team u don't need to use it (assuming u want to stop at 12 seconds).
Alhaitham in quickbloom (with furina, nahida and kuki) is one of the best teams in the game, and most of the damage is alhaitham's damage (with furina ur damage gets boosted and u can use marechausse hunter).
The motion value in his 3 stacks is better than his motion value in his ult (even only using 10-12 secs on alhaitham in a alhaitham-raiden 20-22 secs rotation).
He knows that, that’s why it says “unconventional”. He just does random shit for fun

@@SolunerraI read your pinned comment and i just want to say some things, for my perspective (before seeing the pinned comment), the way that alhaitham was being play was more in a tighnari mode (a few attacks then burst or the other way around), but the feeling i recieved was that u wanted to use Raiden was on a secondary rol, just like a battery for alhaitham, being alhaitham the "star of the team, thats why i posted how (i think) maximize his damage in a 10 secs rotation (being 7secs raiden on field and pther 3-5 secs adding supports swap an utility).

See pinned comment if interested. The goal was not to execute a normal Haitham combo, the goal was to specifically use him with very short field time in order to on field Raiden longer. There were times where I did keep him on field longer, such as to deal with the first enemy wave in the first chamber, but how I configured the team and builds was not oriented around that. It was meant to be a simple "get mirrors, do a couple NAs, burst, switch to Raiden and burst her"

Is... this the first time youve encountered someone with a different opinion than you? He doesnt match my preferences for how I enjoy the game at all, thats kinda all it is. We can enjoy playing this game in different ways, you do know that right? All I try to show with this kind of video is that characters can be used differently to varying degrees of success. Haitham is someone who struggles to be used in different ways, which is why I (meaning ME, you dont need to share this feeling it'll be ok) feel his kit is lame. Theres no reason that should affect how much you enjoy playing him.

See pinned comment. But the simple reason is for Raiden and as a healer. The primary goal in playing Haitham this way was to dual DPS the two. Bennett benefits Haitham by keeping him alive and buffing him somewhat (he scales on both EM and atk, it isnt doing nothing), while also meaningfully buffing Raiden. He was the obvious most synergistic unit there, but with the downside of making the team harder to play for optimal results.
He's also my most neglected character. I got him on accident while pulling for a Yao yao on her release banner on my first single pull on the banner at 32 pity. I've tried using him but besides Guilded never giving me any good pieces and the NA/ CA combos you have to do with him I don't use him anymore. I want to say I regret getting him, but I never wanted him in the first place. Now that I've gone back to farming better sets for Tighnari and Nahida I hope to get him geared again and usable 🫠
He actually works fine on 2 pc 2 pc because Gilded doesn’t give much more stats than 2pc/2pc EM… but yeah if you only run one dendro team he can kinda be a redundant character

Good news is that 5.0 is approaching, and when it hits, Sumeru artifacts should join the strongbox, so that'll help you with gearing those dendros.
In that team you mention, a 4 pc Guilded set bonus gives you 14% Atk and 100 EM over the 2 pc… you can easily make that up with better substats on 2 pc 2 pc so yes, 2 Deepwood, 2 Guilded is fine and Nahida/Kuki/Yelan/Al is his most popular team … I tend to run him as a second hyperbloom driver without Nahida but that’s far less popular (and less powerful) than the team you suggest…
XQ for Yelan is less damage but more defense if needed

In doing that my hope was I could find use playing Haitham this way in this very team. Im not telling you to build this team, but Im showing you what I was trying, and its a valuable exploration into using characters unconventionally (and what can make characters be awkward to use in different ways).
Also, nobody would care to watch me play a normal Haitham team. Wtf concept would I make for a Haitham video using him normally? The only thing would be "Haitham is so boring that I found no way to use him in a more interesting way despite the fact that I can do that all the time with other characters so here he is in a normal team" and the video is 3 minutes of me using a normal Haitham team. What valuable content. Instead I focused on an unconventional use for him, and still made a video about it because despite it not being very good its still valuable to show why it struggles to be as good.
