- In this video, we dive into Tesla's latest updates, including the upcoming FSD 12.4, a new CEO at Cruise, and construction at Giga Texas. Elon Musk talked about testing FSD 12.4, balancing safety and comfort. Cruise just named Marc Whitten as their new CEO to help tackle their challenges. We also check out the big data center being built at Giga Texas to boost Tesla's autonomous driving tech.

The pedestrian hit by Cruise was NOT killed
3:13 it’s not delayed because the timeline is not known. It’s exactly as Brian said. They have to discover if the new model has any new problems. Or they may find problems that were solved in previous releases but now are not (i.e. regressions). This takes time because the better the model gets, the harder it is to find the problems.
Perhaps transfer the heat from the data center to help prepare the aluminum ingots for the castings machines.
Tesla's biggest fans are cool 🙂
Only the interior portion of the South extension will be used as a data center. The outer areas with the windows will have a different function. You can see the different areas by the different color of the roof. The gray roof section will be the data center.
Tesla is using the heat from the computers to be the heat source in adsorbtion chillers which will cool the factory portion of the building. These chillers use a heat source to provide a coolimg effect. Its kinda counterintuitive for those who never looked up adsorbtion refrigeration. Its kinda like the old rv refrigerators work by using a small propane flame(heat source) which is required to produce cooling.
I thought 12.5 was going to be by end of June.
I love you guys and I'm not saying that Tesla couldn't have had something to do with the design or engineering of this particular system but ICT is International Cooling Tower Inc located in Texas, they are a huge company that this is all they do is Design build install and maintain cooling towers so I as I said I don't believe that it would be impossible for a Tesla to have had some input knowing how they think and how they work but this is commonplace cooling tower from the looks of it.
Huge tsla shareholder so I completly hope im wrong and your right but I spent thecfirst 20 years of my working life building factories all over the USA specifically in the process piping construction business
I'm not sure how important it is to know how version 12.4.1 differs from 12.4.2 but it seems obvious to me they have access to more than enough compute to run a line by line comparison or a shadow mode comparison and quickly identify every difference. I bet that would be useful in some testing of specific issues, but there will be wholistic testing also that runs the entire system.
Tesla „line by line“ is no more - they dumped that programming paradigm.
Saving 50% with Heat Pump is no joke.
Did I miss something? Why is no one discussing the Body In White Server Room that is just having a massive cooling system completed on the roof? Looks like it had nearly as big an area as that cooling tower everyone is going gaga over.
A little along the lines of what was known as “the ‘dead man’ alerter’ for train drivers….now approximately 45 seconds……highway traffic and city driving do not not get their steering by following the track. Condolences to the family!
What about a swamp cooler that uses water then water is captured to be reused in a closed system.
The end-to-end NN annoys me!
I would like it if they didn't only got vehicle movement out of it, but also read out concepts!
The idea is that just like humans have concepts about what they are doing, FSD need them too, but they are now hidden internal things. We don't even know they are there, although we suspect they are, or it wouldn't drive as well as it does.
The next step would then be making FSD conscious about those concepts, and able to explain what it's thinking.
That kind of self-awareness doesn't come by itself,. Although we humans got it somehow, without any designer, I think
Where has the idea come from that the new cooling plant at Giga Austin is anything exceptional? It’s the first time I’ve heard that.
What about using tubes that goes deep into the earth that temperature is already cooler.
I think I see a huge HVAC heat pump =====> future model for homes will be smaller
Please stop the extreme zoom. Why?? It's not good for us viewers😊love the split screen. Thank you. Love you and your show and all the guys and some gals. 👍
👋 can you do a episode to cover MobileEye tech va Tesla FSD?
It is interesting that a teenager learns to drive in a few hundred miles and gets a license. FSD hardware needs a billion or so. I wonder if the next revs of the inference computer in the car will noticeably reduce the amount of training required?
For years now we are hearing about HUGE updates every few days - but still not a single driverless Tesla on the road so far. These updates can't really be that huge after all.
The new updates always bring new problems. There's no real progress.
I beg you Herbert, stop letting him say it’s a octovalve. Maybe it’s a kick ass, giant heat pump…. But by calling it a an Octovalve, you mis-communicate why the octovalve matters… any why this matters. Much love.
Can u explain I don't understand it?
@@lollihonk the Octa valve is about complete integration of many different systems, it’s a complicated valve system that allows a Tesla car to heat or cool various systems in the car, depending on what is needed, where, with a common refrigerant system. A gigantic system like this would be best served to just be a really efficient heat pump system, or some other different innovation that Tesla has come up with. Calling it a “octo valve” will definitely confuse people.
@@vantongerent Thank you very much. So they should call this building a heat pump, I totally agree with that.
Wonder if there is a way to test new versions against the previous version (previous version is the expert driver) to avoid regressions -- maybe in simulations or whatever. Getting past the point that human drivers can evaluate new versions robustly and quickly.
I like it. Sort of reminds me of AlphaZero playing a bajillion games against itself to figure out what smart chess moves look like.
While we are waiting how about 12.3.6 + hands free no nag?
I don’t understand the urgency for “12.4” or “12.5” - what we have today with 12.3 is pretty darn good - we should be patient, getting the next high quality release is not urgent - since every release MUST be checked & triple checked for Safety, Safety, Safety - September, October - no worries
I think the new windows are facing north, which won't get direct sun.
Thermal Dynamics
how did they even build 12.5 and 12.6 without fixing 12.4?
No way for cruise. Tesla is covering the simple use cases. Tesla can do the same thing with significantly cheaper hardware.
Uber cannot train their selfdriving software, yes they have cars, but no hardware in the cars.
Omg that thumbnail lol. Stop, just stop. Thumbs down for that alone.
