    This is the first video that I have understood from the start. I am 79 years old and most other video producers talk over my head. Thank You for explaining the setup and software for my new Archer 21 Router. I have watched maybe 10 other videos on this subject, and now I get it! The only thing I would like to ask is after I get my new AX1800 setup how can I change the password and/or name from the old router's info to a new one?
    Thanks Again...... oh, I was using a TP-Link_6130 router from about 10 years ago, and I have internet speeds downloading about 10mps and 2mps upload. My internet comes over the air by antenna from a repeater on the mountain near my house.

      Once set up, the router's settings pages include a page where you can set up the SSID and passwords for the router, including guest access if you choose to enable that function. You can name it the same as the old one and use the same passwords so long as the old one is then taken down.

      You really do not need the Tether app unless you want to change the SSID, password, etc. I just run defaults.

      Since writing this response I sent back the Archer 21 and replaced it with Archer AXE 75 and used the Tether app and the SETUP application. I am seemingly having an OK time! I also have used quite a few smart home devices with it. This was not possible with the old router, as I purchased it from Amazon as renewed, and it was not!

    Thanks for the video! I have the AX 6000 and love it! I got it renewed from Amazon and it came and looked brand new. I live alone BUT I have LOTS of devices and my daughter visits several times a year and when she does she's online in one form or another. So wireless I have 4 ring cameras, a video doorbell, an iPad, a laptop 3 amazon Echo devices 2 smart TVs, and several other things. The AX 6t000 might be overkill after seeing your video but the one thing I do like i the looks of it. Short antenna looks very sharp and I have 100% coverage over my 2,000 sq foot house, into the backyard and out in the driveway across the street, and about 5 min into the dog walk.. Thanks again.

    Thank you for this video - I spoke to TP-Link and have now purchased. I expect it to replace my BT Fibre HUB2 router and can also add the Deco M4 if added range is needed. 73s de G0RPZ 😁

    Thank you for the review. I am going to assume you are a HAM with all those handhelds back there. I need to renew my license and set up a shack. (recently went from a renter to an owner so I can set up antennas) Have a like and a new subscriber.

    Once I’ve done the setup, can I remove the tp link router from my internet providers modem. I would like to have the router in my room which is far from the modem.

    I think it time for me to upgrade my Lynksys router. When browsing on my iPad the speed is getting slower. I purchased my modem the same time I purchased my router, should I upgrade my modem when I upgrade my router? I am thinking about getting the TP Link AX 1800 or the TP Link AX 3000. Thanks for sharing this helpful video.

      Even electronic gadgets wear out. I've r we p laced both from time to time. You may want to do a speed check to see if the bottle neck is the internet connection parts or the iPad itself.

    Have you had any experience with the AX1800 router either wireless band stopping working after a few days of being the gateway router for my personal network. If there are any failures after using it for a month or so?

    • @GadgetTalk4U
      @GadgetTalk4U  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use it for my main router. I haven't had any issues. WiFi 6 chooses the best connection, and that seems to do well, too. Even with a bunch of 2.4 only home automation devices.

      @@GadgetTalk4U One nice this is you are future proof. You will notice a big difference in speed and battery life when you get some wifi 6 devices.

    My service does not use a cable box, I use centurytel internet, do I skip the blue slot and plug a filtered phone cable from the wall phone Jack to one of the other slots?

      Sorry, I have no idea. That's a question for your ISP, I'm afraid.

    Would there be any problem with older devices, iPhone 7 or 8?? My older router is failing and this seems like a good replacement choice.

      Don't think so. WiFi6 added capabilities didn't subtract.

      I'd start with my retailer. Good luck.

    I'm not getting any better performance with this router than on my 10 Year Old Linksys WRT 1200AC that is at least a 9 year old router (PC Magizine's Review of the Linksys WRT 1200AC is dated October 28, 215)and dose not support WIFI 6.
    I don't see any WIFI 6 connections on my WIFI Network connections and there is no WIFI 6 LED on the TP Link AX1800 Router. I don't get any stronger of a connection on the TV in the Family Room with the TP Link AX1800 Router compared to the Linksys WRT 1200AC.
    The TP Link AX1800 has 4 antennas while the Linksys WRT 1200AC only has 2 and yet the 4 antenna router provides no better signal strength than the 2 antenna Linksys WRT 1200AC.

    What is the range of this router? I am trying to get a signal about 100 feet.

    • @GadgetTalk4U
      @GadgetTalk4U  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There areso many things gs that affect range. I'd be hesitant to guess. Where in your home, what the structure is made of and other things make a difference. Personal opinion is use an extender or the mesh features of this router to get out that far.

    Ax53 or Ax72 for home

    • @GadgetTalk4U
      @GadgetTalk4U  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't a quick search and didn't find a Sony camera called AX72. In any case, I don't have one and can't speak to what you'd find better for your use. Cheers.
