I have fallen IN LOVE with this phone, and have completely ignored my iPhone. But my only issue is the inner screen...like how easy it is to get scratched. But that's it. If they do make an upgrade, I hope they make one at 4000mah, and just make a stronger, durable inner screen. Everything else is PERFECT.
I looked at the phone in my local phone shop where it's on display and everyone can play with it. and to be honest the screen still looks mint and it's been on display since it came out.
Well, its the 4th iterations...so, let's hope the 5th version refine a lot
I had to carry a mini microfiber cloth as a part of my EDC just because of the inner screen and the dust on it
So here is an explanation to the "rainbowing" you mentioned at 1:54. So first, a display is made out of pixels. These pixels are made out of three sub-pixels: 1 red one, 1 green one and 1 blue one. These subpixels are independently lit up from a value of 0 to 255 to create color. A white pixel must have all subpixels at 255, meaning the three subpixels to create every other color you can see have to be fully lit. The reason that it is on the screenprotector but not on the glass, is because the plastic kind of reflects the subpixels and merges their color to some extend. Glass does not do that. This is why the "rainbowing" only occurs on the screenprotector.
Is anyone really gonna notice the rainbowing or be bothered by it to be honest I would have to put my eyes on the screen

Its a solid device with no hiccups whatsoever. I am still trying to get used to the crease. I also switch from one case to another. Currently, using the Bridgetown Gear4 with my Flip 4. So far so good!

I have had mine about 4 months and had to have it repaired because the screen broke at the crease and killed the top half of the display. Luckily, Samsung warrantied it and fixed it for free. Aside from that I am enjoying it.
did you buy directly with samsung? I have a similar issue with dead pixel black hole on the crease thats fucked up the top half but i bought from O2 and they told me i would have to pay for repairs

I have my a flip 3 still. Almost 2 years and it’s in flawless condition. I had to replace the screen protector one time and it only cost me 20$ at a Ubreakifix. I love my flip
And what about the crease on the display, does it get worse over time?
i haven't had any physical issues with my z flip 4 but sometimes my device lags or freezes and won't let me get out of an app or doesn't let me do anything at all. Other than that I have been really loving it I switched from an iphone 12 to this and I appreciate the longer screen and like you said the fact that we can download and the media editing just much much better
Ahh yes the old android bugs. Ios is definitely more polished no doubt but of you can get over the occasional glitches android, at-least for me, offers more functionality…. And flips too :)

My old pixel 2 had the exact same video/audio issue after I dropped it a few years ago, so I believe you! I ended up replacing it before seeing if it would go away on its own, but I remember not being able to find anything on it at the time. Probably just a super rare thing.
Thank you for the review! I'm trying to move away from pixels and the flip phones have really enticed me for the nostalgia factor, but I've been scared to jump because I tend to hold on to my phone's for a long time. This has been informative.
Let me get this straight, just because someone says its bad cuz it heats/lags or whatever, that doesn't mean its the phone problem, like let's be honest, the way everyone has different problems is cuz they use the phone differently. People utterly destroy their phones and blame samsung by saying "samsung is bad" or "i wish i never bought this" like have some self-reflection. This video is a review not a fact, keep that in mind!
No problem with mine. Would like a telephoto lens and more usable cover screen. But cover launcher helps.
I have a Flip 4 and no issues so far.
We all know that this is a sensitive phone so you gotta be extra careful w/ this.

thank you for giving an actual run down and not just talking about how opening it with 2 hands is inconvenient lol. You're the first video I've seen that mentions the flip 3 having heat issues which a lot of videos I've watched glossed over.
For the rainbow line don't worry it's the screen protector that got scratched. I have a z flip 3 and I scratched my screen protector (not at the crease) too and that line appeared.
It isn’t a single line though, it’s like a stream/river of many shorter lines that extend from edge to the other along the crease*
I just bought one and now I am worried about this rainbow line.

I see hundreds of complains regarding the screen on my country. Here, they often charge the customer stating that the damage was due to misuse of the device.
For sure, many people will do sh1t and put the blame on Samsung, but after seeing so many people reporting the same issue...

Hola, estaba ahorrando para comprar el z flip 5...pero despues de algunos videos y posts, la pantalla no creo que sea duradera. Yo no compro cada año, el que tengo ahora tiene 4 años y la batteria ya esta mostrando su edad. Pienso que Samsung deberia de tener una garantia especial para las pantallas flip y fold, unos 3 años si es que el daño es no causado por el usuario. Me encanta lo pequeño que es y que no necesito abrirlo para interactuar con mensajes, ya me canse de telefonos grandes que son incomodos de llevar en el bolsillo. Pero casi 1000 dolares es mucho dinero si tengo que lidiar con problems de pantalla. Espero que el tuyo dure bastante. Saludos.
I guess There’s a reason why some cellular providers are accepting many Samsung phones as a complete free trade in towards the zflip 4. The screens are becoming faulty within the first year of use. I was going to trade in a s22 towards the zflip 4 and the retail seller was candid with me, he said quite a bit of customers were upset bringing their phones back showing them that there was progressive damage around the crease with the display.
these vids are super helpful! I've been considering what phone to get since mine is now... 6 years old? I'm loving the look of the flip 4, and these videos give me a realistic view of what I can expect from it after it's not 'new'
Just please keep in mind that it's still a work in progress and Samsung themselves give you some more warranties than any other phone company would, just because they probably haven't had enough time to test for everything there may or may not be. Sure, it's amazing looking and I promise just a huge attention magnet (I have never before in my entire life been starred at as much as with this phone), but sometimes it really tires you up to be worried for you phone sooo much while simultaneously seeing how your friends just throw around their iphones without giving it much thought...

Maybe the audio/ video issue might of been from a software update? I have the s21 ultra and that happened to me randomly and fixed itself. It happened for a few hours after I updated the software version. Good that it's fixed though.

Im using my zflip 4 for 5 months now. I haven't had any problem so far. Also, my coworker is also using the zflip 4, and he doesn't have the problem either. Maybe we are lucky

The battery life you mention is crazy, I got my flip last week and it's predicted to last for 16h but realistically i can get 3-4h of screen time max :(
Does it really get that much better over time? Are you using power saving mode (60hz)?
I just got a refurbished flip 3. So in all I've had this for almost 1 1/2yrs (the old phone had gotten some kind of strange chemical burn on the screen) .its still goin hard. I hate the battery life and overheating but thats all. I can't wait to upgrade to flip4 or fold 4

Keep a case on these phones lol, After a year with my Z Flip 3, it had a fall from my Desk. Not a very far fall at all, but for some reason it created a air pocket all the way through the center of my phone ( The Crease ). Put it on the charger that night ( Wireless Charger ). That air pocket in the crease became Black (guessing from the Heat of Charging), so the top half of the Phone stopped working but the bottom did. Moral of the Story; That's why I'm buying the Z Flip 4... With a Case. I only kept the Case off of the 3 because I liked the slimness, Rookie mistake when too confident. BUT that crease does tend to give in after months of flipping.
I charged my phone 2 days ago and it’s night time so tomorrow will be day 3 and my iPhone 13 Pro Max is at 57%, switching to z flip 4 in a week… hope it holds up
My flip just automatically turn off when flipped :-( and when it reach 60% battery it shut down by itself :-(
Since the last update i get a message every few minutes saying galaxy watch 5 keeps stopping. I don't know how to fix it.

My crease is cracked and all blacked and the upper portion of the screen is jacked as far as the display there's 2 bright green stripes on the display that extends down from the camera to the crease....it also had a hinge protection case 😭Currently dealing with the run around with the insurance company and Samsung.
That cammera and audio issue could be a software issue for your device specificly i mean my redmi note 9 pro just doesnt want to update and im stuck on miui 12 android 10 even tho miui 13 android 12 is released but it is what it is

My S9 just died after ab 4 - 5 years of use. now I'm really considering the flip 4 as a replacement. is it a good idea? (because ive heard alot of screen and crease issues)
If you plan to use the device for more than 3 years. Definitely not. If you plan to use it for around 2 years, I think you can go for a try.
My Z Fold 3 and my Mom's Z flip 3 is still in pristine condition after a year of use

I have recently had oppo reno2, iphone 12 mini, samsung s22 ultra and z flip 4. All the phones are different, in their way, I like the z flip, but after like a week I stopped folding it up because its useless for me, and I the screen is just a bit too narrow. I might get regular s model in futude. Or regular iphone

There are oppositely charged magnets on each of the tips that I tested for myself but I have not had any issues with their strength at all - no real changes on the closure or the space between the display when closed. I remember the ZF3 had a "rugged" sandpaper-esque feel at times when closing it after a while of usage but none of that here :)
I've seen a video of the z flip, is that when you have your earbuds in that distance when you walk away from your z flip isn't very far before whatever you are listening to cuts off. Please test this.

Might depend on the ear buds. I have the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Z Flip 4. Never had it disconnect, its advertised at 33 feet (10 meters) but can be longer in open environments.

@Jeannette it's better than the Z Flip 3. I would say it's on par with the s21, not the ultra or s22 series. So still pretty good and when you have it in 'flex mode', aka half foldered like a laptop, you can get good night/time-lapse shots without a tripod.

Z flip 4 phone powers off when closing it only after a couple of months... so much for durability... look it up
3 months later my screen went black and Samsung doesn't cover the warranty. The crease also appears after 2 months. I'll never buy this phone again.
My screen protector completely detached in the crease during mid april 2023. Bought mine a few weeks after launch, I think. So now it's hard to see through and gets dust in it. I have to replace it. Didn't even last a year, not impressed.
From the point your protector first starts to get a loose triangular air bubble near the edge, it takes about a week or two for the air buble to cross all the way across.
Also, the official samsung phone case SUCKS big time. I bought one in mid januay, and it is already broken. The strap snapped off also in april. And the corners near the hinge, of the bottom half part, have cracks, and the thin part over the charging port snapped. It just self destructs. I didnt drop it.

Hey so I am really considering buying this phone. Are there any tips to keep it in good condition? Why are people experiencing the hinge breaking ..and screen not working. Is it really that bad of a phone? Is it smart to take the risk? Or could this be fixed with a good screen protector and thinner case ? I hope you answer !
I got mine from Best Buy and the hinge broke after a month, but I got a replacement for free since I had the best buy protection which is only 9 dollars a month. The hinge is more fragile than the previous versions but the battery is almost double the last one. If you can baby the phone and never drop it or get some sort of protection plan I'd say it's worth it.
Try not to drop the phone, and when opening the device, don't open and close it with your finger stuck between the 2 screens.

@@itslindz__ I hope you enjoy your phone! 😁 Make sure you don't get a case that's too big or has a big screen cutout because big cases can interfere with how the magnets hold the phone shut and if you drop it it without the phone being shut with the magnets the probability of the hinge breaking is a lot higher

People, before you buy a Samsung device, you should read what I write here:
I bought a Samsung flagship device a year ago and miraculously, a few days after the device's warranty expired,
the device's microphones burned out, the repair requires a screen replacement at a cost of $500.
Unfortunately Samsung was not willing to test the device free of charge and certainly not fix it even though there is a serious bug in their devices.
If you want to use it to watch white image every day, you are going to see a rainbow... careful, GAME BREAKER! xD
