Sometimes social media can make us feel pressured to be a certain way or have certain things and if we don’t have them feel rubbish about ourselves. Christmas isn’t about having all of these lavish decorations, it’s about whatever makes you happy 🎄
Completely agree!! You don’t need to splash a tonne of cash to be happy! Great positive message and Xmas is all about being happy with what you have and time with family! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
New subscriber here. I totally agree with what you are saying. I can't understand how people can afford to change the theme each year. I am a sad old traditionalist. Red, green and gold for me. I may add a new piece or two each year (buy retro decs in Charity shops). And sometimes swap decorations out, maybe use one year, then not the next
Yayy thanks for the sub! ❤️ Yes I love a traditional tree and decs too and I also usually only buy one extra decoration each year and alternate. I think it’s nicer to have less but it mean more x
@@julietannOsfan1972 no me too! We have our decs in the loft and I like to buy just one each year as a “treat” 😂 carefully selected dec 🤭 I love traditional x
Totally agree. I simply cannot afford to purchase new Christmas decor every year just because the popular influencers do. I'm old, and while growing up, everyone had only 1 tree to decorate in their homes and most rarely had a 'theme' going on. I do, however, enjoy watching the decor videos, but I try not to be charmed. Thank you for sharing. You're a wise young lady.
Yes me too, just one tree and the same decs! I actually love it that way though, getting the decorations out every year just makes it more nostalgic 🤭 I love the decoration videos too, although I do get jealous of the beautiful cozy homes that I can’t recreate but I try focus on what I have xx
You seem like a very nice young lady but I can’t really grasp who this video is aimed at. This is the kind of stuff I used to say to my teenage kids when they got carried away with the “ooh this is cool, let’s get this Mum” enthusiasm 😂. I don’t think grown adults need to be told what they should be spending (or not spending) their money on. Agreed, there’s an awful lot of expensive, useless tat there, but that’s just my subjective opinion. Other people might think it’s all gorgeous and thank goodness for that! How boring if we all adhered to the exact same decorative tastes. Let’s just all enjoy the season as we see fit and leave everyone else to do the same. Common sense is all that’s needed. Have a great Christmas anyway 😊
Thank you! On social media all I keep seeing is extravagant Christmas decorating videos, filled with expensive items. The point of this video is to express that you should do what makes you happy and not to follow these trends or ways of celebrating just because it’s in our faces everyday and can seem like an ‘expectation’ x
I particularly enjoyed your pointing out that pine cones come absolutely free, courtesy of mother nature. Likewise holly and ivy. It astonishes me that people are prepared to buy such things. Your little boy (he's gorgeous) was having a good look at everything :-).
Yes and how lovely going on a walk to collect them ☺️ Aw my boys loved it! The first Christmas my oldest is really at the age to understand now too so it’s even more magical! 🎄Is Christmas your fav holiday?
@@iiAmNiicole Absolutely. And I start on Dec 1, no matter how many people disapprove or moan. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Lucky you having tiny children. Mine are all in their thirties now.
@@catgladwell5684 I think Dec 1st is very controlled.. I may have to get mine down soon 🤭 the house always feels more cozy with the tree! JulietannOsfan1972: I hear you and agree. Gonks, elf on the shelf and nutcrackers are not my idea of Christmas. I do like a nice, fresh scent flowing through my home, though. Following influencers is quite spendy and I just can't do it.
Yes me too, I love the more sentimental aspects of Christmas and reusing each year and every year the decorations just holding more memories! thank you for comment and sharing ❤❤
Nicely put together video. Charity shops get loads of donated Christmas decorations . Great price, plus you're helping out donating to a good cause. Therefore why buy new. Although always nice to look 😊
Thank you I appreciate the feedback on the vid! I’m only just starting on TH-cam so just finding the flow! 🤭 I love charity shops! Perhaps I will do a charity shop Christmas vid, that will be fun 😃
Love the term gonk! Here in the states, we call them gnomes. I like gonk better, sounds adorable! And baubles, sounds better than balls. Merry Christmas!
Yes we say gnomes too! However at Christmas mainly referred to as gonks 🤔 who knows why, bizarre Britain probs😄😂 I love hearing the differences, thank you for commenting ❤
It’s very true, I really love a classic Christmas with all the good films the the 90s Santa Claus! That’s my fav 😃 what colours do you usually decorate with? 🎄
I really think where you shops a huge factor 🤔 i dunno what shop that is but it seems expensive 😅 i went for cheap shops n tbh they give just as good stuff but a heck load cheaper
This is a garden centre! So pretty and beautifully set up Christmas section but yes the prices are just so above most places for very similar items! I LOVE the cheaper shops too ❤
It amazing how much stuff influencers buy, i know some have basement to store stuff but it os just crazy. Ive had a tall snowman for 20years, he was from woolworths so they can ne investment pieces. My tree is 32years old 😅 too sentimental to change so os my garland, i still remember what i was wearing when i bought it. My favourite ornament ive had for 25 years, my hrandpa gave it to me off his tree. Christmas to me is Christ and memories
This was so beautiful to read! To me that’s exactly what Christmas is! My parents have all the decs from my childhood and I hope to also be this way. Perhaps adding the odd new one each year but not overall changing it. It seems more special that way and full of memories! I appreciate your comment thank you! ❤
You don’t have to buy things but you can if you want to… imo. if you’re looking at people spending hundreds on wreaths or candles .. like restockers, they are making money from getting people to buy things … that’s not the norm

Some great advice. What a refreshing change for a young person to be telling followers it's ok to be selective and save money.
