HUGE Vintage Fabric Haul! Fabric store shut down 40 years ago || Part Two

  • This huge estate sale is of a dressmaker in South Carolina who just locked her doors in 1981 and walked away from the store she owned. 40 years later, myself and two other vintage TH-camrs are getting access to hundred of yards of deadstock vintage fabric, vintage patterns, vintage trims and all other kinds of vintage clothing and jewelry! I will show you a taste of my estate sale haul, but that will primarily be the second video in this series. But there are still estate sale finds to be seen in this video as well.

I worked at a Cloth World in the 70's, and this is bringing it all back to me. What I remember most was having to take about a yard and a half of each vertically placed bolt and bias fold to drape over the end. It really did show off any fabric well.

The fabric bolt from Dan River. I used to work for that company in 1979 in Danville, VA. . For the employees there was an outlet we got to buy fabric at a discount. My grandmother worked many years there and I remember she took me to buy fabric, She made my wedding gown from Dan River outlet. My best friend made comforters. I worked in the weave room. Seeing that bolt brought back memories.

Flower Power! You just transported me back to the late sixties/early seventies when college student would-be fashionista me spent all my spare time sewing outrageous outfits for myself. So many of these fabrics are at least sisters to ones I used and wore. Considering I was living in Iowa at the time, my wardrobe was pretty far out there. I’ll be emailing about a couple of the tamer ones, btw.

Oh yes. The flower power material!! Oh for the all the fabric! I am watching this 11 months later than when you posted it and wondering what you have managed to do with it all. And yes, I'm binge watching your videos this evening! 🤣😂
