Not sure if you would be interested but the Bollywood version of hamlet is AMAZING. It’s called Haider and it’s about the occupation of Kashmir. It’s such a great spin on the classic play but I absolutely loved it.

When I did my “reading Shakespeare” project, I enjoyed listening to Emma Smith’s “Approaching Shakespeare” podcasts after reading each play. I tuned to Marjorie Garber’s “Shakespeare After All” occasionally as well. I also watched recorded performances. I remember watching David Tennant’s version of Hamlet.

I definitely prefer Branagh's performance in Much Ado to Hamlet, both because I think he's a better comedic actor than dramatic one in general but also because of his chemistry with then-wife Emma Thompson as Beatrice! They're a hoot and a half. Plus Keanu Reeves plays Don Juan, which is amazing. Generally, I think it's a better adaptation to film and you get whisked away in a manner that plays don't usually achieve.
