Syd Barrett /Pink Floyd - "The Scarecrow "

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 19 พ.ย. 2017
- July 1967
A promotional film for the song, made for a Pathé newsreel and filmed in early July 1967, features the band in an open field with a scarecrow, generally fooling around. It shows Roger Waters falling down as if he were tired, and Nick Mason exchanging his hat with the scarecrow's Pathé Pictorial, UK, 1967)
on their 1967 debut album The Piper at the Gates - เพลง
This song shows how much empathy Syd has for that poor scarecrow.
Maybe the scarecrow was him. He is wearing black and green clothing
Such a priceless footage... especially since Syd is in it.
@x munki It’s very peaceful and I agree !
Nothing more pure and innocent than this
Of course....
Drugs
It is what it is
We would all need to be really stupid to not know where the inspiration for many great songs came from
How many people are vocal in their objection to drugs whilst also being vocal as they belt out the lyrics to songs that are most likely to have been written when under the influence
You cannot have it both ways
the level of creativity young British musicians had in the late 60's early 70's is beyond me; Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, ELP, all young and masters at a very young age
A beautiful dead acting of Roger
For me, that music like this was at the vanguard of popular music is nearly impossible for me to fathom. This song is glorious.
This is the England I have been imagining ever since I first heard the Floyd in the 70s.
Yes!
0:30 pink Floyd's history in one second
Prophetic
Especially when Waters runs forward and the others fall behind but united.
This is the first time that I have seen Syd Barrett in motion. I have only seen him in photographs.
There's a live video of him (and pink floyd) playing astronomy domine and giving an interview, it's quite easy to find, it's definititely worth a watch!
Roger deserves an Oscar for this
It was written by Syd Barrett

Syd's hair is so FLUFFY!!
July 67, Syd would be soon be out of touch , very sad, thanks for posting
How quickly life can change. Thank you for sharing this.
Earthy...poetic....beautiful...sweet....memorable.....love it!
Syd wore black and green. Not even the Scarecrow did. Kind of powerful in its self awareness. Just like the song itself, actually.
"If only I had a brain" - The Scarecrow (Wizard of Oz)
The good old days...
If there would be no present I wouldn't be born (+_+)
The good old drugs
Love the early experimental pf days. It is a fortune that nick mason has a band with whom he plays songs mostly from 1967-1972
The black and green scarecrow as everyone knows
Stood with a bird on his hat
and straw everywhere...
he didn't care!
He stood in a field where barley grows
His head did no thinking, his arms didn't move
Except when the wind, cut up rough and mice
ran around on the ground
He stood in a field where barley grows
The black and green scarecrow is sadder than me
But now he's resigned to his fate
'Cause life's not unkind
He doesn't mind
He stood in a field where barley grows..................
Robert C. Christian - Syd Barrett under this standing effigy on the barley field, perhaps, meant himself and his terrible fate of the psychopath-schizophrenic secretive from society and so early leaving the world of music! 😨😦
Love Syd’s Lyricism !
@@langedocalgvazil8903 I didn't get notified of this comment, but interesting one .. nonetheless :)

I think one of my favorites is Chapter 24 from Ummagumma (i think it was on that album)
So at first as most people do, I just listened to it... thought it was cool and moved on. Then after awhile I was like...WTF is he talking about ... lol
So I researched it a little.
He took the song idea from the I-ching (chapter 24 of the iching is THE GREAT RETURN)
And it's about this cycle of 7.
All movements are accomplished in 6 stages, the 7the brings return. 7 is the number of the young light.. it falls when darkness is increased by 1.
It's the cycle of 7... like how the bible god made the universe in 6 days and then he rested.
Well in the iching, the 6th movement is the great darkness. It's about this cycle that keeps happening over and over...
Chapter 24 goes on...
Change, return, success
going and coming without error
Action brings good fortune
sunset...
sunrise......
The time is when the month of winter solstice... when the change is due to come
Thunder in the other course of heaven.
Things cannot be destroyed once and for all.
Dam ... I just love pink floyd... it's the thinking mans music! Stay safe during this pandemic!
@@rcchristian2 Flaming is pretty good too
"Ya can't see me, but I can you"
The video quality looks very good for how old the video is
I agree. If I didn't know who these guys were, I could mistake it for a home video from the 90s.
Gerbian I thought it was fake for the first minute but it’s real. How is this possible in terms of technology?? I’ve never seen 60’s film replenished to this quality and vibrancy
The power of film! In all seriousness, film can look rather impressive when restored correctly.
@@InfamousMedia Have a look at Zulu from 1964. As a rough estimate 35mm film holds the same detail as a 4K digital image.
Man, what camera could record something like this in the 60's?
when i listen/watch pink floyd content, i only do with syd barret original magic
I like Syd's work the best as well.
Yea same here
That's too bad as Floyd became such a far better band once Gilmour joined.
@@martykehoe8510they were always great and I can hear syds shadow in the later work
It's funny to watch the Pink Floyd try to act silly like The Beatles in A Hard Day's Night. All of their videos from this time have them running around acting silly like The Beatles. It took them a while to find their niche which was the hidden, mysterious Pink Floyd which is the opposite of how the Beatles acted.
Well....aside from "Magical Mystery Tour" The Beatles weren't acting silly anymore by 1967.
It's like gilmour says, copy copy copy
Quality of this is really nice. The Floyd in swinging 60s mode.
"The Black and Green Scarecrow"
Syd's wearing black and green.
Damn he planned this carefully eh?
2020 amo a Syd 🥺🖤
I love this song. Real treat to listen to it.
Such a lovely song
Roger, plz. Worst death scene ever.
But funniest =)
Rogr Razr surprisingly accurate to cowboy films of the time 😆
What? Au contraire, my friend.
Those were the true happy days n.n awww Floyd your in my heart and mind
Beauty.. at. It's best, Syd knows. Harmonious with nature, root of creation!
SEMBRA LO SPAVENTAPASSERI DI OCARINA OF TIME :) GRAZIE SYD! DANiELE :)
In this and the arnold layne video roger fights someone. like calm down lol
@@uninvitedguest9616 The common denominator is Roger. He was temperamental then and for the next two decades. I'd just be happy to be rich and successful. I'd literally be happy all time if I had the kind of dough Roger has.
love this in a happy setting in the country side, dreams ahhhhhh
beautiful
god that is CLEAN footage.
the most beautyfull album of the band.
Beautiful boys!
Syd barret🌠
I want Rogers shirt.
Amazing to finally see the film clips to these songs I used to listen to in my teens and early 20s. But I often wonder why the rock singers of these early times were often so skinny? Roger Waters and Brian May are good examples, but many many more as well.
Post-war British nutrition in deficit maybe as late as the Sixties, but certainly while this generation was growing up. Ever seen his teeth?
Such a peaceful video !
Syd Is the Scarecrow!!! No Syd is in the green shirt I belive
This song should be 15 minutes long.
There was something wrong with Roger Waters here in this video 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Syd was unique
Nick is the master of "Mind Fu"!
They had a gig the that night at the Memorial Hall, Northwich. I have heard that this was filmed in Marbury Country Park, nearby. But that pond is hard to find.
Looking at the gigs flanking the Northwich date, I see The Birdcage Club, Eastney, Portsmouth, England , the day before and The Roundhouse, Camden, London, the day after.
Quite a swathe of Southern England to comb, for the setting of this fillum.
I would like to know, too. and do you know what, there are yet places like that. Sure, the street furniture has changed (boo-hoo!) but there are wondrous English afternoons that go on forever. Just go and cavort in amongst it.
Now is the month of Maying!
Spiked genius, in a land where envy is rife! We must not fear envy nor allow the envious to spike our ascent.

Finally, *YES*
But *that* was Nick Mason, right?..

This looks like it could have been shot yesterday.
Very funny kkkkkkkkkkk
Where's Syd?
Green shirt

This reminds me of the scarecrow who won an award for being outstanding in his field. 🙄

Roger was weird
They were all weird. It's part of being an eccentric artist, and it makes the music that much better.
Well that was weird.
Syd by now was considered n Acid Casulty, and This Video reveals this,Syd so out of this.
Michael Boyce what, what did he do? He did absolutely nothing out of the normal
Give an example
