I have roughly 50 other applications of my iPhone that I would need to re-install one by one. Also, what about messages ? This is not showing me anything about messages so I think this is not going to work for me

Kinda like languages, if I said こんばんは you probably have no clue what that means, because it’s not written in the format you’re familiar with. Photos and contacts on the other hand use a pretty much universal way of holding the data, with only very minor differences if any, so those can be transferred very easily, like translating a sentence from American English to British English in the worst case

Copy my data app is not free, you can only transfer up to 2 GB after starting free trial. Unfortunately, after trying to transfer just my calendar and contacts... nothing was transferred. What a fail.
Better option is backup on pc and save that back up file on a usb or any external drive so incase u lost ur iphone or its stolen u can use that backup when you buy new phone. Just remember to keep backing up every few months.
