    I agree. "Nausicaa" was the first Miyazaki film I saw, and Nausicaa earned my deepest respect and admiration. I aspire to be the kind of person who can think selflessly and decisively.

    I rewatched it recently because I felt nostalgic. On the second time, I cried like a fountain at the end and the beautiful, hope-filled and esoteric music didn't help the feeling of a possible better outcome than what we are, in real life, living currently. Your description was perfect and, if I had to personally define Nausicaä with only one word, it would be: Hope.
    (Just by writing this and remembering makes my eyes tearing up slowly, just to say)

      the only bad thing about the movie is that it left 3/4 of the manga out wich adds so much more to their world

    But Miyazaki thought the film didn’t clearly describe the conflict between the nature and the humans, thus he made “Princess Mononoke”.
    Masterpiece.

    Wish there was a uncut extended version of this with the full story, or that they made sequels with the rest... its really close to my heart ever since i was 6 years old watching this 34 years ago, on VHS and it really made it so all other cartoons had ALOT to live up to, Nothing beats anime when it comes to cartoons

    There's a great scene in the manga where Nausicaa single handedly held back an entire army with some special ammo. And then some knights sacrificed themselves to help her escape, great moving scene.

    This is in my top 3 favorite Ghibli movies. And this movie was made before the studio even had the name Ghibli!

    Hello, I live in Türkiye (Turkey). You have explained Hayao Miyazaki's magnificent work Nausicaä perfectly, I am very happy. You are really great, congratulations. I've watched all Miyazaki movies over and over and I'm still trying to introduce people to these beautiful movies. Thank you for this beautiful video.

    Ok so stay with me on this one:
    Someone on the creative team of the Star Wars Sequels had to have been watching this movie and took heavy inspiration:
    Visually, Rey's home planet Jakku and her scaverging the remains of wrecked starships is directly inspired by Nausicaä exploring the Sea of Decay, both of it is contrasted with the debris riddled desert landscape surrounding everything. Some shots are borrowed almost identically (think crashed TIE sinking into quick sand, skelletons of the ancient god warriors vs. the Star Destroyers, Nausicaä collecting spores, Rey's flashbacks vs Nausicaä's flashbacks, etc.)
    In The Rise of Skywalker we get this Scene where the characters fall into a hidden cave through quicksand which I am pretty sure is a direct inspiration taken.
    Thematicly Nausicaä is of course a very different character from Rey, although they share some skills and traits (there is an interesting tangent here about how Nausicaä has this saint like moral compass yet doesnt seem to be this Mary Sue type like Rey, kudos to mihazaki) However the character dynamic between general Hux and Kylo Ren is an almost direct copy of princes Kushana and general Kurutowa. In Nausicaä, Kurotowa is always in this silent power struggle with his superior Kushana. When she is gone, he almost hopes for her not to return. Star Wars mirrors this with Hux moments before killing the unconcious Kylo in the last Jedi and him later betraying the first order. Kushanas golden armour also looks suspiciously simmilar to the concept of captain phasma.

    So for anyone who hasn't, I'd highly recommend the Manga. It definetly has diverging plot and lore and tends to meander sometimes, but it just gives so much more insights into Nausicaä's character. It reminded me of Evangelion at times (and get this: Hideaki Anno, creator of that show, produced a short film "Giant God warrior appears in Tokio" as a tech demo, creating an absolutely amazing and realistic depiction of the 7 days of fire).
    Nausicaä is a character you almost always feel sorry for, because she not only always faces almost impossible odds but also appears to always be the only character that is completely sane. It just serves to show the reader how broken the world she is living in really is. In the movie she is a true Hero, but in the Mangae she has to make some very tough calls that really conflict with her morality. By Ways of the plot, she has to bear basically the burdons of the whole world. I wont spoil the ending for you but the manga does give a more detailed backstory for the creation of the toxic jungle and does something really interesting with it that is set up earlier in the story. Basically she is even more Jesus in this story than in the movie (yet at the same time absolutely not in the spiritualist sense).
    We can also read Nausicaä talk to the insects, the God Warrior and even a rogue fungus at some points in the story. We get more factions (some roles are reversed or swapped from the movie, so dont get confused), some epic trivia lore like the spaceship from the movie actually being a mine for technology in the manga, it being revealed that nobody can actually construc the scifi tech they use and just keep repairing centuries old machines.
    Also everything you see the people construct is actually ceramics and not metal, which I think is a very interesting choice implying how the previous civilisation on earth just used up all resources or something (not really possible considering just how much Iron there is on earth but still...).

    this is my favorite miyazaki film, o love the sci fi elements but i also really like the story and emotion, the war is cruel and brutal but no peace comes without conflict and 99.9 percent of movies have peace and war in them and the emotions vary between anger sadness and hate, but then at the end come happiness and joy and the story doesn't stop at the end of the movie, you can just imagine what happens next and the entire movie is much much more than a masterpiece, it is a perfect movie and one that has 0.1 downsides (which i haven't looked into because why?) over all perfect movie loved the video and keep up the good work!

    Her taking out 5 armed and armored to the teeth trained soldiers with just a stick took me out the movie, even if she was some kind a big muscle dude. There should be atleast some struggle.

      I respectfully disagree. Her weapon was a hammer, a blunt force weapon suited for fighting armored foes. She also had the dexterity advantage for evading their attacks, which by the way was by no means a breeze.
      Besides, she's the hero of a sci-fi/fantasy epic, she's by default going to be a lot stronger than the enemy grunt.

    • @moogiibat5845

      @@ccengineer5902 Your last sentence just points out the problem with that scene, she is the main character so she can do what ever she wants, it is another power fantasy that the whole toxic iseki genre based on, and by the way I rewatched that scene and she has a stick, a dumb stick that somehow breaks the steal helmet and cut through the guns with one swing, also somehow disable one men by hitting the side of body armor that looks like a gambeson, there is no fucking way she would have won that engagement if this series were actually taking itself seriously. What the fuck is she even made of, does she has a super soldier serum.

    I wouldn’t put it in my top 5 Studio ghibli. The FMC is too naïve & annoying honestly. I get it she honest and cares but geez. Also in this type of theme and scenario you can’t forgive and trust too easily. There was scene were she should’ve die or worse

      This movie just has a lot of issues and plot holes. The fact the evil group that trying to take over the world by force and distraction that killed your father, destroy your village and would keep going if there army was still strong just left. Let all forgive and be happy like….WHAT there coming back 100% there basically Germany when hitler was in power and they live….bruh 💀

    • @YoBoyGio
      @YoBoyGio 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Issues like her plot armor to fight off so many at once, the ending was just a cop out like getting crushed to death and just getting revived. It loses it and makes it cheeses

    I have to disagree on your take on the music. Although it is great, I feel that the score as a whole is inconsistent in style. Sometimes it's the gorgeous sweeping and bombastic orchestra, and then in other scenes it sounds like a prog rock concept album, both are great and fit this film, but I feel together they clash with one another.

    • @kaltenstein7718
      @kaltenstein7718 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It was Hisaishis Synth-phase. If you can, compare the original score of Castle in the Sky to the one on the english dub. While it displays the annoying habit of adding music in some silent scenes, the orchestral versions of the themes is just epic. Of course Hisaishi has since done orchestral covers of his Nausicaä score as well. Also this was not the only time a purpose made pop song was included in the film/its marketing, later movies did that too.

    Its a master piece the first time I watched it i thought it would be bad because it was ghiblis first movie but its even better than some other movies btw i feel like adventure time got some inspiration from nausica
