Yes in the summer I forgot about tinned soup and fish etc and as I have a dark blue van ,left it in top cupboards and it cooked inside so when I did open it was rank !!!!
Dead right! Only buy and carry what you are going to eat and like. We all take so much just in case food! Then throw it away 🤬. Good video, with you all the way 🚐👍
Great idea, this video. Somewhere I read that storing the fridge filled with crumpled newspaper helps with the moisture, too. I used to stock my Class B campervan and mini-campervan with cans of stew or soup, peanut butter, and granola for emergencies. Since I can't keep my trailer near my house, no point stocking it for an emergency escape. But it is important that we here in fire-pummeled California keep an emergency stash for throwing in the car if we have to evacuate in a hurry. Your video was a good reminder that I should create a box of goods for that. Re: coolers. I now have three cooler/fridges in my garage for three types of camping. For the one-nighter, I use a small cooler and one of those ice block thingies. For an upcoming three-week trip, I will take BOTH my Api-cooler like yours hooked up to a 540v solar battery as well as a large cooler that I'll stock periodically with ice. On my last trip, my Api-cooler overheated. We travel through a lot of hot deserts here. My point. It seems I have to stock for each trip in a different way and need flexible alternatives. What a fun spring video - yes! "mouldy packets of god knows what"... how exactly have you been looking in my cupboards!!! ;-) Snap on the take very little notice of best before, bit more notice of use by as that's actually a measured indicator but hey that's what nose, eyes and a little taster is for - I've taught the kids, if it looks mouldy, smells odd or prickles your tongue then probably not good to go, otherwise dates are aiming points not deadlines but do be more mindful of use bys especially camping as so much depends on how stable the fridge temp is... PS LOVE the poncho what a fab colour!
Yes, jonny says ‘looks alright, smells alright, ‘tis alright’. PS I can’t imagine there’s anything mouldy in the back of your cupboards, you’re far too organised! 🤩
@@hedgecomber you’re mostly spot on, other than during my periodic “let’s get some more interesting and/or exotic vegetables into your diet kids” phases! TBF they’re pretty good, mind you they’ve always been fed food, never “kids” food, so they haven’t had a lot of choice; that and we’ve had a zero food waste policy since way before it was trendy! Organised though cannot be said of the overfull spices cupboard which is full of all sorts of random “oh that sounds interesting” stuff I.e. much more bohemian ;-)
