  • If you have a Litter-Robot III Open Air 3 and it's stopped working with yellow blinking / flashing light and/or the globe does not rotate in normal operating cycle or spinning continuously counter clockwise in one direction, then this video might be for you. You can read more about this repair below, but first, here are the #ᴬᴰlinks to some of the components, parts and tools required for this repair or alternative products you might want to consider:
    1. amzn.to/481Nebt | Litter-Robot 3 Connect & Ramp by Whisker - Automatic, Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box, WiFi Enabled, Works with Any Clumping Litter, Designed & Assembled in USA (Grey), 1-Year WhiskerCare Warranty
    2. amzn.to/44ExAQk | PetSafe ScoopFree Complete Plus Self-Cleaning Cat Litterbox - Never Scoop Litter Again - Hands-No Cleanup With Disposable Crystal Tray - Less Tracking, Better Odor Control - Includes Disposable Tray
    3. amzn.to/47ZKGKS | MyfatBOSS 10-Pack Carbon Filters Compatible with Litter-Robot 3, Activated Carbon Litter Box Filter Compatible with Litter-Robot 3 Self Cleaning Cat Litter Box Filters, Accessories Replacement
    4. amzn.to/3L785QI | Omilik 15V AC Adapter Charger Replacement for Litter-Robot II 2 Bubble,Classic,III 3 Open Air Power Supply Litter-Robot III Open Air Self Cleaning Litter Box Power Cord
Or Click on Amazon link here and search for what you need: amzn.to/3xIOsqg
With this type of yellow light error, if you continue to press power or cycle button, the globe will continue to spin in one direction and the key on the back of the globe might snap out and sometimes the bonnet will come loose.
Of course if your unit is still under warranty, then you should call the Automated Pet Care Products, Inc. DBA AutoPets (www.litter-robot.com/warranty..., Robot Shop (www.robotshop.com/en/litter-r...) or any other authorized dealers where you bought the unit from, and have them diagnose via the phone. They will either send you a replacement part or fix it under the terms of the warranty.
If you searched online, it might tell you that there is a problem with excess weight, globe positioning or defective hall effect sensor. Based on our experience however, this blinking yellow light as shown in our video is because of the anti-pinch safety feature malfunctioned or became defective.
Basically, if the globe is blinking the yellow light, you will need to replace the Cat Sensor or re-position the Anti-Pinch safety feature.
The Anti-Pinch safety feature is two pin connected to the motherboard that must touched each other continuously. If they are separated, you will have an alarm (yellow blinking light). The Anti-Pinch safety is located in the bottom back left of the Litter-Robot. You will need to unplug the unit, remove the bonnet, the globe and the drawer. It is the ''Two Metal'' pins. With a flash light, you should be able to see if they are touching each other or not.
If they are not touching each other, try to re-position them with a flat screw driver by pushing them upwards. However, if they are touching each other, you will need to replace your cat sensor.
With Litter-Robot III Open Air, should you have any problems or error lights, the first thing you should do is to empty out the litter, take apart the unit, thoroughly clean it and then put it back together and re-test the unit. Make sure the put the unit on a flat surface and away from the wall or corners. Most of the times, these simple procedures will help you repair the problems you encountered.
In this video, we will take you through the steps on opening the bottom base unit and to remove or replace the anti-pinch detectors.
Sometimes, the flashing yellow light might be followed by blinking red light or timing indicator, and in that case you might have to replace the cat sensor as well. If you need to replace the cat sensor, you check on our step-by-step tutorial video guide here: • Litter-Robot III | How...

Our litter robot had been sitting stuck in that yellow blinking stage for months. I took it apart to the point of being able to easily get to that weight sensor which had litter blocking it. I cleaned that and now it works again. Great video, much better than anything on the litter robot website. They should hire you to make tutorials!

This is the "pinch sensor" not an overweight sensor as described. It is to prevent your cat's leg from being pinched is she tries to use the robot while it is mid-cycle. The weight sensor is on the underside of the unit and looks like a hockey puck.

  • @mrblanche

Good info. However, the part you were fixing there is not a weight sensor. It's a pinch sensor. If a cat got caught in the drum when it started turning, that sensor would keep the cat from being injured if it got its leg in the wrong place. The weight sensor is the round thing underneath the unit, which is spring loaded. On early models, that weight spring could be adjusted for the weight of the cat. In addition, there is a pair of metal contacts on the left side of the part that goes over the drum. They provide power to the blue light in the drum, but if those two contacts get dirty or corroded, the drum will not turn very well, and it may quit working completely.

I had a lot of issues with the drum stopping half way, tried everything, cleaning the contacts, cleaning the whole unit, cleaning out the pinch sensor, this was over a couple of years, but afte a couple of days it would start doing this stop half way thing again. This time I cleaned the contacts with light sandpaper, pushed a little bit of cardboard in behind the contacts to keep them pushed out, and, I think this is what made the difference, i then cleaned out the little sensor on the top of the bonnet as the clear plastic oover for the sensor was full of dust, & it has not stopped once in a long time now. It would always stop half way leading me to think it wasn't the bonnet contacts, as it should have stopped at random points in the cycle but worth cleaning out the contacts anyway.

  • @CCM1199
    @CCM1199 ปีที่แล้ว

That piece of plastic is actually a pinch sensor and not a weight sensor. Its to prevent the cats from pinching their legs if they decide to play around while the machine is in motion.

  • @EspressoStreams

I need some advice... mine has been working okay, and then lately (Last 2-3 mo's) it seems to think every 3 days the drawer is full. I pulled the bonnet off 3 times this morning and FULL cleaned it due to the dreaded pinch fault. Wont cycle at all. Can't get the error to clear. I can't get underneath it to try and check the pinch mech just yet. But I'm thinking it might be that the plastic piece might be warped...

I don't suppose you have a suggestion for an issue of the robot being stuck on a yellow UNBLINKING light, not responding to anything (even the power button)?
I've tried dismantling and putting back together the CPU. The bottom sensors appear to be fine.
Unfortunately I brought mine 11 months ago from a UK former international partner of Litter Robot and the company went bust a few months ago. I even brought 18 month extended warranty, but the company are uncontactable and I'm stuck with a broken robot.
I've tried waiting in the queue to speak with litter robot in the US but the international calls have already cost be a fortune!
Sorry for the ramble, I'm a bit stuck!

That is very strange! According to the manual, there is no error when stuck on a yellow light, except for indicating "The Litter-Robot is cycling (Clean or Empty cycle)" Maybe your model believes it is perpetually stuck in cleaning mode? Maybe check the sensors that detect when the cycle is over?

Great video man! But not necessary to take the base apart...all those screws and wires will spell trouble and regrets for some (especially on a $600 shit box🤦🏼‍♂️). You can easily use a flashlight and needle nose pliers to bend those metal pieces back together and or sand them off a little bit for better contact or vice versa if they need to be pulled apart some! I won't know my outcome for a while as my Siamese has decided to go inside it for more time than I care to go back down and investigate! 🤦🏼‍♂️😂🤢

Hope litter robot is paying you loads. They can just get rid of their "customer service" and direct you to your channel.

Just bypass the damn pinch detector by removing those pinch clips and twist the wires together w some electrical tape. No cat on the planet is going into a moving machine. Problem solved.

Quite honestly, I would NEVER recommend someone get a Litter Robot. I have 2 - that's $1200 worth of litterboxes. Both worked fine for about 2 years, and since then I have had nothing but trouble with them. First one problem then another. I live alone and don't have someone who can take them apart and fix them. I can't do it myself. So I have $1200 of worthless litter boxes. I should have stayed with the regular boxes.

It's ridiculous that this is a normal fix for a very expensive commercial product. What a complete POS this product is
