    Does anyone watching have a heated jacket or are considering getting one?

    Nice review Kev 😊 I’ve always see those jackets but never really thought about them. I tend to like my layer system but I think your right for just a little wonder or day walk they prob work nicely 😊

      I think they definitely have their uses. Longest walk I did in it was an 8 mile ridgeway walk and it was great. I think for the right walk and conditions it is a great jacket. I'll probably take it on a camp soon... see what it is like having a heated jacket in the tent.

    A friend has one and he loves it. I had a similar jacket sans sleeves for when I ride my motorcycle. Good review 👍

      Thanks. They do seem to be quite common these days.

    Great review, I have a heated body warmer that I absolutely love 👍👍

      Thanks Stuart. I've seen a few body warmers, they probably offer a nice balance keeping your arms out.

    Hi Kev, I followed the link to see how much it is & it's a lot but in the right (or wrong) conditions it'd be a life saver so maybe worth every penny. It must be really cosy against your back particularly, I've a hand warmer that burns charcoal & it's so comforting, the thought of heat in my jacket is a good one.
    Think I'd prefer not to have a light on all the time though.
    Much safer in a car than running the engine to keep warm if you were stuck somewhere & oodles of hours of car battery to charge it up with. But we've probably had our cold weather this winter so no more snow 😔

      Thanks Annie. It's pricey, but no more than a good down jacket and it offers something different.
      Sadly it does seem like mild rain for the foreseeable!

    Well.... I live in Canada. That for many implies I live under snow year round. Not true :) Canada has a vast number of regions with lots of variety of weather. Where I specifically live, if you had asked me 20 or 30 years ago I would have been very interested in a jacket like this. Back then I owned snow boots, snow pants, snow jacket etc. and needed them. We would have snow on the ground for 3 to 5 months of the year, and usually with some depth to it. Back then, from November to March there was never rain, only snow. Now, it has not gone colder than -6C and not for more than two nights in a row. We have had more rain the last 60 days than snow. We did have snow, it was less than 2cm thick on the ground, and was gone in about a week. I have not owned snow boots or snow pants in 10+ years, and my winter coat Ive used maybe 5 of the past 60 days, the rest of the time just a fleece coat and scarf. This will of course change some in February where we should see about 7 days of actual wintry days which is fine, I just stay in for the week and then go out when the rain comes again. Interesting technology, just a few decades to late to be of use here :/

      Wow, that's disturbing to hear. Here in the UK weather is generally warmer, but we are also having more extremes, so spells of much hotter and colder weather than usual. However, these are only brief and it seems generally our winters are very mild. It was very unusual for us to get this cold spell for me to do the review. It's been mild and basically raining ever since!

    Stitch a patch of Velcro over the button . To hide the light 💡

    • @TheWalkingKev
      @TheWalkingKev  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not a bad idea, or a bit of strong tape stuck over it maybe.

    I have a padded waterproof parka and thick fleece keeps me warm and dry in all weathers .

      Sounds good. I've normally got down jackets and waterproofs that I wear, this was trying something new and it's been interesting.

    i have some heated socks which i use at football matches where i'm just sitting down and the concrete floor sucks the heat out of you.

    • @TheWalkingKev
      @TheWalkingKev  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't realise you could get heated socks! They might be handy on a cold night in the tent...

    • @garymartin557
      @garymartin557 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can get insoles too. i got the socks off ebay,the one with a rechargable battery. there are ones which run off aa batteries too which are cheaper but how good they are i don't know. of course the batteries are not as big as the one in the jacket, and you would not want anything too warm on your feet. inside my boots they have been good, i think they need the insulation to maintain the heat.if they were used alone probabally not enough, but i have not used them without foot ware.

      @@garymartin557 sounds good. My feet are generally fine when walking and I've got my down slippers for the tent.

      @@TheWalkingKev could be a good match then. i have not managed to run the battery down yet so don't know how long they last. on full power i have used for 3.5 hours but switched them off due to being a little warm outside of an external setting.
