What makes a great musicians is knowing what to play what not to play and when to play it.playing a million notes doesn't make you a great musicians but playing with feeling and passion and Craig Ross is a great musician.
Damn!!!! How do I not know about this dude?? I like Lenny, but never saw him live or even knew he had such an amazing guitarist in his line up. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Lenny Kravitz has always surrounded himself with great musicians and his music will always bring bck some of the best times of my life, Living in Boston when his 1st album came out and got a chance to see Him and The Cult at The Orpheum , really small venue in dwntwn Beantwn, Still one of the best shows Ive ever been to AND THIS KID BLEW EVERYONES MIND THAT NGHT, NOT only an incredibly talented CAT, as Lenny calls him BUT his stage presence with all his gear standing in front of a stack of Marshall amps and that Crazy Cool Ass Hair looked and sounded like he was shot fast fwrd outta a Canon from the late 60s early 70s and landed in that theater...I remember everyone on the way out talking about how he stole the show.. Without even trying!! and I think Lenny has no problem with that at all!!..with all that being said.. YES ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE BEST !!!!!
how many virtuoso guitarists can write big hits songs ? this man did it all in Kravitz Band ..for millions of people Lenny is playing solo in videos ...no He's only dancing with the guitar .Craig is the man.
When I seen Lenny kravitz play on Saturday night live are you gonna go my way I was hooked. Who is the lead guitarist in that band he blew me away.. his name Craig Ross.
Craig ROSS always on the run bless you gonna go my way circus God is love resurrection baptism let love rule mama said best album sound divine beautiful MAGICAL love✌👻😻🍰🍰🎂🎂💟🌸👱♀️🧚♀️🌠🤑
Ross (known as Kreg Ross at the time) was in a great, underappreciated band from LA called The Broken Homes. They were together between 1986 - 1990. You can catch his great work on their second album ("Straight Line Through Time") which someone graciously uploaded to the 'tube: th-cam.com/video/lzZVf3LRWJs/w-d-xo.html
His melodic and rhythmic sense is better than Slash. Slash was more of a technical acrobat; Ross is much more of a feel player. I prefer Ross, but I feel they are equals, as far as lead rock guitar is concerned.
In addition to that, slash has much more predictable/cliche pattern or style of playing and he is not funky, nonetheless both are great and have distinctive sound, I do prefer Craig too!
So would you call this “shredding “ or anti shredding?😂 Great tone, melodic, played “with feeling “screaming guitar for sure. No doubt the man’s a genius
I think a lot of Craig but Slash is amazing cos he wrote so many amazing songs ..welcome to the jungle intro is as good if not better than Hendrix ever did..Jimmy Page and Slash are the most creative ever
Erm don't agree with the hendrix knock .....hendrix wrote the book that slash and all the rest follow..you know what hendrix did that slash can't...is use his thumb ..hendrix had a unique way of playing chords .im a big fan of slash.....slash is Good ..but hendrix is god
What we have here? a jazzy guy who plays all the modes shredding up and down the scale sounding like a casino machine doing nothing but making people's ears tired 😂

Well said! Marc Ford once told me in an interview that Craig Ross was the only guy in LA who really scared him back when they were both getting started in the 80's. Ross has such a great lyrical feel to his playing. Obviously a Jimmy Page acolyte, but he takes the ball and runs with it.
+VirtualWoodshed Hey Man. Since Marc Ford is one of my all time favourite guitar players (he really made me take music seriously - i'm a working musician myself now) and Craig is also one of my heroes - i'm really interested in that interview. Is it available somewhere? Thanks in advance.
Craig is a beast! Lenny’s whole band was world class. One of the most passionate players I’ve been privileged to see live.
The man is a monster...freaking unbelievable !
A real classic rock inspiration because he touches the hearts and souls
Craig handles any guitar solo like he's caressing and serenading the love of his life

In deed, one of the most underated guitarists... one of my favourites of all time... along with Dominic Miller
It’s all about feel
WOW!!!!
The song is called "I'll be waiting" strinzi. But this guitar solo is only played in live
Electric guitars like going on a date with Craig Ross.
Guitarhero
He certainly knows how to pose out.
It’s a rockshow, hollywood bowl
They got long hair, madison square
Redfro Ross 🤘
🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
finally proof that you only need 3 fingers to play rockin' guitar. too craig over 2 min of solo before he used his pinkie.
agree !!--!!
I have watched many guitar solos. Respect to all. But could this solo be the greatest, melodic, longest solo?
who made you . u are f.... coool
His melodic and rhythmic sense is better than Slash. Slash was more of a technical acrobat; Ross is much more of a feel player. I prefer Ross, but I feel they are equals, as far as lead rock guitar is concerned.
allrequiredfields craig is not even that good
In addition to that, slash has much more predictable/cliche pattern or style of playing and he is not funky, nonetheless both are great and have distinctive sound, I do prefer Craig too!
could anyone tell me how to get such a sound? do i need a distortion pedal or a overdrive pedal
I agree, he's awesome! I think his stuff has a lot of Jimmy Page in it! Guranteed he is a big fan of Page. It has the same soul vibe to it.
Oh, he is good
how old is he?
guys what a name this song??
I've read comments people saying Craig is Bob Ross (Mr.Cuningham-Happy Days) son, tat is not true !!
Great on Crowes greasy grass river
He got is qwn style he is very complete his sound is very different from slash !!!
not so very inspired here but is a great rythm and lead. who needs Slash?
I hate to be the one to ask....but Tabs anyone?
a singer is Lenny Kravitz, but a guitarist is Craig Ross!
I was here. I mean, with Lenny.
Looks like neal schon in his Santana days
Didn't he play with Lenny Kravitz?
Rehashed a million times.
What a hair!
he looks like slash whith his les paul and his hair x)
Why is everybody and everything called Underrated on youtube the last few years?
tod4y this comment is underrated
this comment is under rated too
Under what?
I think there is a lot of Ace Frehley in is playing... Don't you think so?
Illegal!
So would you call this “shredding “ or anti shredding?😂 Great tone, melodic, played “with feeling “screaming guitar for sure. No doubt the man’s a genius
Doesn't use his pinky. Like dude from Winger
fucking wow makes me wanna switch to gibsons
Yes. he is great. but what happen that he doesn`t push your heart like Slash.
better than sl*sh
I think a lot of Craig but Slash is amazing cos he wrote so many amazing songs ..welcome to the jungle intro is as good if not better than Hendrix ever did..Jimmy Page and Slash are the most creative ever
Stay off that crack pipe
Erm don't agree with the hendrix knock .....hendrix wrote the book that slash and all the rest follow..you know what hendrix did that slash can't...is use his thumb ..hendrix had a unique way of playing chords .im a big fan of slash.....slash is Good ..but hendrix is god
I would get bored playing one pentatonic scale over and over again.
Maybe in your basement...maybe not so much in front of 1000's of people...
That's exactly what I thought dude... It's the same 8 notes repeated but rearranged.
YohAquino2 it's called "running out of ideas"
it still sound FUCKING AWESOME
What we have here? a jazzy guy who plays all the modes shredding up and down the scale sounding like a casino machine doing nothing but making people's ears tired 😂
yes, is better
Perfect slop...lmao
plays like every body else and recording is horrible
a poor copy of "Stairway to heaven" solo by Jimmy Page
You should listen to Stairway BEFORE you write such bullshit. ;)
So bad. So plain. Only butter notes. Only one scale.
But... millons of dollars in his pocket. Take note.-
And that’s why HE is a rockstar that makes millions and tours the world and you’re here criticizing on TH-cam lol

That's what Lenny Kravitz says, you can do all the notes you want but if you don't have the blues, you're not a true musician
@@adrianomarchi4031 without Craig, Lenny wouldn't be there.
@@buddyxxx2951 what does that has to do with what I just said?
