Whenever they get mentioned its always the mega hits that get played, but their best music was the early stuff like this. No other band sounded like them back then.
Age 11 “Promised you a miracle” was my first single purchase. Glittering prize was my 2nd. I still listen to the ‘New gold dream” album now age 49 and it never gets old. Love a bit of Tears for fears from those days too.
The Hurting is Tears for Fears best album. A masterpiece.

My 80s childhood was a bit horrible but it the music and awesome bands like this that made me safe and at ease. I was 11 when this cut as well as their other fantastic hits like "PROMISED YOU A MIRACLE" AND "HUNTER AND THE HUNTED" had came out. And after all of these wonderful years, they are still without a doubt timeless.

Love Simple Minds 18 at the time in 82. Just loved the 80s. They were one of my favourite bands.... wish I could go back in time and stay in the 80s.

I've loved Simple Minds for as long as I can remember and this gets played often when I'm driving. Takes me back to when life was more simple 😍
Years ago I played this so many times headed to work in remote mountain locations. Now I can play it and it brings me back to the golden era of working in GODS country where I could see my life flashing before my eyes only on a clear day

Easily my favourite Simple Minds song. Just gorgeous. Every sound on it from the get-go....the keyboards, the guitar, the bass, the voice....makes me ache for my youth. Even though it was a tough time for me at school I get associations from this with something happy. Summer, maybe?

Mysterious & charismatic…Jim Kerr at his brilliant best. Was 15 or 16 when this was released…hard to believe this was over forty years ago.
This song will always remind me of living in New York back in the day. It wasn't a hit but what a song. It got airplay on the alternative NY radio stations.

Brian Molko got his look from Jimmy
Michael MacNeil, Derek Forbes and Brian McGee were the substance, the backbone of Simple Minds. Their successive departure created a great void and an irreplaceable loss for the spirit of the band.
Totally agree they where the backbone Derek Forbes wrote the intro to Waterfront and that's a song to remember.
Can't help but agree with you on that - this was their golden era, regardless of how successful their later stuff was. New Gold Dream was their high water mark in my opinion.

Amazing song/band.Had pleasure to watch them live-twice,but not in the 80’ unfortunatelly.I read about a recent member set up with some chick on the drums...that’s a joke...without Gaynor,it’s not the same band.Burchill,Gaynor,Kerr,everything else is replaceble.One of the best bands of the 80’,although it’s so tough to point out someone,as there were so many great great artists/songs...today’s scene can only dream about the 80’.Try to copy,and cry....
