No but can we talk about how perfect the ending song was?!!! The teen is revealed as Billy Kaplan while BILLIE Eilish was singing in the background haha. It’s a Billie Billy world 🤣.
@@mattmorton9488 happens to the best of us 😂! And if you listen to the whole song, it really fits Billy haha. “Fell for these ocean eyes” means ppl fell for Billie’s blue eyes and she has them under her control. This is just like how Billy had mind controlled Jen and Lilia and they had blue eyes, showing they were under Billy’s control. I’m assuming when he’s at full power, he’ll have blue eyes similar to his mom who had red eyes. And the rest of the Billie eilish song is about making ppl bow and well, Billy can definitely make ppl do that if he wanted to. And it seems like now Billy loves hearing ppl scream while silence has become his new favorite sound haha.
I hated this. Something was off here - and the run times are strange I agree. But I think there are a lot of misleads. And I hated the ending nc I hate I’m not here for Billy and I’ll never be interested in that so it sucks that I can’t like him anymore. Cus I’m here for Agatha and her story.
Omg I couldn't believe Alice is gone. She actually is a decent person. She saved Mrs Hart (Sharon) when she got sucked into the mud, then when Teen was attacked by one of the Salems she hit them with the broom, then here she tried to save Agatha... this is very sad. Agatha nearly fooled me she is real evil.
I agree with your comparison comment, but I also agree with Brandon's criticism of the runtime. All of the previous episodes of "Agatha" have been shorter than any episode of "The Penguin" thus far but, personally, those Agatha episodes still felt long enough and satisying when you were done with them. I like episode 5, but the shorter runtime was noticeable, and it would have been great if the episode were a bit longer without feeling padded.
There is too much campy vibes there is terrible acting lazy writing and sup par set design…and the vfx weren’t anything special but the make up team went hard
To your point, Agatha All Along was also given the lowest budget to date of any MCU Disney+ series. I'd like to know the true reason behind that, and I'm pretty sure I won't like the answer.
I feel like it came at the end of an era where Marvel Studios and Disney+ were greenlighting a lot of titles to fill content when it seemed like everyone would watch everything they put out more consistently and easily.
I think they’d do well to reduce the budgets for their shows across the board tbh. 2-300 million budgets for limited series puts way too much pressure on their projects, meaning they’d end up only greenlighting the most milkbread shows from now on. Lowering the financial risk increases the capacity for creative risk. Unless they mess up the second half of the show massively, Agatha is easily in my top 3 MCU shows, and at a fraction of the cost of others.
@@Jumbaride I remember the episode runtimes for Wandavision were wonky at the beginning of the series, they were short sub 25-30mins. They did however gradually get longer as the series progressed. I do agree, this has been a fantastic series, the haters don't even know WTF they are even hating it for anymore. It's hilarious how stupid some of these "reviewers" are with the hate content.
Is it possible that Agatha couldn’t actually control it? Because Rio’s face when she said she couldn’t control it made it seem like maybe there actually was something to that. Perhaps that’s the curse of the darkhold? To make her alone and betray and push everyone she loves away? My biggest complaint is that it is sooo short. I absolutely loved this episode! The flying scene, the witches attacking, the possession, the twist of Agatha killing Alice, and for those who aren’t super aware the ending will have been a big twist. Even though they revealed Wiccan there’s still many questions…they made it seem like he attacked the other witches though I’m sure that wasn’t what happened. Did Wanda put the sigil on his mouth? Did Agatha actually feel bad about killing Alice? Did Agatha know who “teen” was all along? Etc.
If her mother was witch they likely did magic on her for her, how many did she accidentally harm, if she couldn't control it, leading to the label as being evil by the mother, meaning she was raised with that for as long as she can remember. Always being punished for things she didn't mean. At a certain point, you can't help but internalise that.
Agatha even says that she can't control her 'powers' of draining others 'powers' (when being attacked). Hoping at some point, the witches in the coven teach Agatha how to overcome her weakness and learn to control her 'powers'.
I realized that they need Wanda for House of M and Wiccan for the Young Avengers. I really believe this experience will help Wiccan become a better leader because he has clearly seen the consequences of a bad leader. I really feel that Agatha and Wiccan are both learning from each other in terms of what is acceptable and what just crosses the line.
The runtime bummed me out too but that reveal moment redeems EVERYTHING. Loving the ride. Also, please keep up with the Jamie cameos! Full Phase Zero reunion when???
BD, with you on the screentime. With streaming shows, we typically get shorter seasons (than the older network model) and also typically wait longer between seasons. Really over shorter episodes in the streaming era.
Oh I think you’re right, next week is a background episode and we’re going to have to wait another week to see what’s going on with Billy and with the mud pits and with Rio hanging back at the house.
When Agatha approached Billy it reminded me of Wanda when she used to make ppl see ilussions, maybe Billy is just watching like wicked dream since Agatha just got some magical power back?
I agree great episode I think Billy's goal was to reach the end of the road with agatha In search for answers he snapped and turned upon realizing that agatha now having her powers has no need to complete the journey I give episode 7 out of 10 mostly for run time as the effects were low but not a hindrance due to flow of the episode
I like the idea of keeping Agatha a villain but maybe somehow forcing her to do "the right thing" in the end so she doesn't have to be totally redeemed.
Yay Brandon! Bringing an articulate intelligence to a world of comic book craziness. Did not notice the runtime ngl. Then best thing about this show is that you don’t notice the runtime cos its well written! Also hard disagree with yr comments on the VFX too
I agree with the majority of your comments that it was an excellent episode even if it was on the shorter side. A lot happened in the episode so the shorter run time didn't bother me as much. This show is so campy - it's made specifically for my taste. I'd rate it a solid 9/10
In terms of episode length and the look of the VFX, I wonder if the limited budget had an effect on this? I’d be curious to know what the budget is for The Penguin series vs Agatha, as that may tie in with the episode length. Also as much as I wish the episode was longer, I do feel there is a counter point that the episode was tight in terms of pacing and did not faff around and it felt like it dragged. Every scene had a reason for being there and there was a clear three act structure.
The Billy reveal was cool but honestly with all the accurate speculation is was just ok after further thought. NOW though, I think this show has a lot of potential because part of me really wants it to focus on Billy for the remainder of the season, but I'm immediately reminded that the name of this show is "Agatha" and not Wiccan. I'll give this episode a solid 7. Would of been a 5 if it weren't for that reveal at the end.
Now that we know Billy was lying about wanting to use the road to get powers.. I wonder what his secret motive is. It could be get to tommy or wanda or mephisto is forcing him because he has Tommy and is using Billy to open a door so he can get to their dimension.
Overall, I gave this episode a 7.5/10 but I probably need to give it a second watch before my solidify my opinion. The end was definitely the best part (what a way to reveal a character's identity in a way that's exciting despite the fact that most hardcore fans already knew who he was), and I totally agree that the 25-minute runtime felt way too short. As far as what happens to Jen, Lilia, and Agatha, I keep going back to the shot in one of the trailers of Jen emerging from a hole in the ground, seemingly just outside of Westview. I wonder if that's where they'll all emerge and then they'll have to venture back down to the road at some point. Or maybe they're sent to a place that just looks like Westview. Either way, I'm excited for next week's episode even though this wasn't my favorite episode overall.
I actually think this episode was that less is more and that's what we got. We got a cliffhanger and tie ups to loose ends. I think agatha didn't really did it on purpose as her son stopped her but too late.
Slightly agree in that my only complaint was the run time, but only because I loved what I was getting (even if some of it made me sad or upset!) and wanted more of the thing I loved! Beyond that, I'm way more with Jamie on this one! Hard to follow up on the brilliance of last week, but this episode was great, visuals and all! Doesn't look cheap to me at all, just very intentional with its aesthetic. Comparing it to Penguin is like comparing ET to The Godfather. They're not trying to do the same thing, but are both doing phenomenally at what they're aiming for! As for Agatha, I do believe her. I don't think she intended to kill Alice. She was an addict given a sip of wine who couldn't stop herself from chugging the bottle, and could only comprehend the consequences after the fact. I don't think it's the first time either. I've gotten the vibe since the flashback in WandaVision that Agatha has been defined by how other people view her for her entire life, which made her a great foil for Wanda and the theme in that show of not letting other people define you. Agatha has been told she's evil and bad and can't be good for so long, since birth if her mother is to be believed, that it's just easier to believe it herself and lean into the role the world has cast her in. My hope is that she realizes through the road that there are more options on the table and that she's the one who gets to make them. I don't need a full blown redemption arc, but something that sets her up more in the morally grey area she resides in the comics (imagining her as sort of the MCU's John Constantine) would make me VERY happy! But the show has proven itself more than enough at this point that I'll be down for wherever Jac and co. want to guide and leave her by the end! And if I can get another song to obsess over along the way, I wouldn't be mad. 😈 I have theories over "Teen" and Rio as well, but I'll wait and see how they play out in the weeks to come with a big old smile and plenty more instances of yelling "WHAT?" at the screen along the way! But I will say I won't be surprised if the word "Demiurge" gets uttered!
@@EchanteDante agreed. The moment her mum asked them to go with Agatha I immediately thought this trial was for them as a coven. Evanora possessing Agatha again to trigger one of them to protect her not only could test if any of the coven members would try to save Agatha but also test if her daughter had the ability to control in order not to kill her own coven.
I think it’s fun to give more characters time to grow, but I also think this is a product of Disney+ shows getting greenlit very rapidly when the streaming service first launched.

Establishing the goal of her trial requires more screen time since we know almost nothing about her past. This entire episode feels like a fish out of water, made solely to generate hype around Teen's identity
