Hi Dr. Diane I am a early childhood educator who was just introduced to the concept of S.T.E.M. I have started giving my preschool children ramps of all sorts; pvc pipes, cardboard ramps etc. I have seen people using a black rubber material, but I can't find it. I spent an hour in Home Depot yesterday trying to explain to multiple people what I wanted, but no one knew what i was talking about. I see it in your video. Can you tell me what it is called and where to get it? Thank you.
+Dr. Diana Wehrell-Grabowski Thank you for getting back to me. I did have another questions. I was wondering what the bamboo building set was called. I was also wondering what the red and black bricks with the holes in them are. Are they foam or real bricks? Thank you for your time.
+starrchild2010 they are real bricks $50.00 for 50.00. I make my own with Quik Crete. Why not look into having me come out to your school to conduct STEM training.
Dan, the foundation of STEM education is to develop and strengthen the 4C's: creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving, communication and collaboration. Skills necessary to be productive in the 21st century. It is not the intent of STEM programs/ education etc... to direct all K-12 kids to become an engineer, etc... It is to foster the 4C's within classrooms, including paradigm shifts in the way teachers teach so that classrooms are student-centered vs. teacher driven. www.dianawehrellgrabowski.com
Hi Dr. Diana. I am a Day Care Center Director who is finishing my M. Ed next month in Leadership in Early Childhood Education. The STEM concept is completely new to me and I am very eager to implement the concepts into our play-based curriculum. Although we have a very thriving interest in Science and Math, I am certain it will be more enhanced with the formal STEM concepts in place. Please add me to any mailing lists to receive further information. Thank you for a clear and precise presentation. Littlearchie256@gmail.com and/or cynthiamcinnis@aol.com. Thank you
This is great. We're all about getting kids into developing these skills from a young age.
We made 3D shapes and the children enjoyed it.
Love this!
