Illumi is emotionless and unsympathetic towards everything and everyone except when it comes to Killua (and maybe other family members but who knows), plus Illumi is a professional meaning he ALWAYS has his head in the game and doesn't let emotions get in the way of what he's doing, so Hisoka knew that he had to trigger something within Illumi that would make him lose his mind to the extent that he completely forgets his mission and uncovers his presence, therefore Hisoka did what he did. In the original manga, Hisoka asks Irumi: 僕がキルアを殺るのはアリかい? (boku ga kirua o yaru no wa ari kai?) Funny thing is that Hisoka uses this kanji 殺る (yaru) instead of 殺す(korosu). The last one would be more appropiate if he just want to say 'kill', because 'yaru' could mean in this context either to kill someone or to have sex with. Hisoka's hands are giving Irumi a pretty clear idea which he's going for

Now I'm not sure if the 'rape' part was necessary or not, if simply saying he'll kill Killua would have been enough to trigger Illumi's bloodlust like I'm not sure, but maybe it's just all to do with Hisoka being a creep but still it was a smart move because it saved Gon's ass (don't take that out of context)
