With the Vega 64, it might have been overheating and just needed repasting. Those reference models benefited from having washers put in between all of the pressure screws to give the GPU/HBM better contact. I had constant overheating issues with my 2x MSI Vega 64 reference models (they'd turn on and then shut off the entire PC during boot) before taking GamersNexus' advice to add the washers to add more contact pressure. After that, I had no issues, and just applied a bit more aggressive fan curb to keep the GPU's nice and cool.

In the future, plug in an RX400, 500 series, Vega, 5000 series and use ATIflash to flash the bios. This is common for miners to flash the bios and undervolt to save power during mining. You don't need to de solder the bios chip. I have done it many times, and the utility is really easy to use. Hope that helps! Oh, almost forgot, a lot of those AMD bioses have an auto backup internally. If you short two of the pins while on, it will restore automatically the original bios. I bricked an RX470, and brought it back to life like that (no dip switches, I had to solder the wire to two pins on the bios). Also, I believe the HBM starts to strip from the substrait on those Vega cards over time. This will cause the no posts, which eventually leads to error code 43. I have a card that still works, and after plugging and unplugging the card several times, it will come back to life, and the HDMI will work again. BTW... I use to mine. haha :)

I have that exact same Sapphire RX 580 and it's a pretty decent card for its age. I bought some new pads and I will eventually change them and add some fresh paste. The pads are .75 mm thick which are near impossible to find so it was recommended to use 1 mm but only Gelid Extreme because they are soft enough to squish down and not prevent the GPU from contacting the heat sink. Some people have also had success with using .5 mm pads as well, but I am afraid that the wrong ones might stop the VRMs' from making contact with the heat sink. Maybe I may just play it safe and use the original pads for now and just change the paste if they still look good and I feel "chicken." 🤔😁
