I have a 01 with 350,000 miles, still a daily driver and is currently about to get a manual swap. I’m also the second owner of the car… love it
Made me cry. I crashed my is300 sportcross on thanks giving (absolutely devastated) my baby hydroplaned and ended up messed up. AWESOME CAR.
Mine was bone stock, used it for daily use, took care of her and she was the best car I’ve ever owned
Not a bad video but a stcok IS 300 GE engine will definitely not hold 600hp. 400hp is pushing it. 350 seems to be about the reliable mark for those skinny VVTI GE rods.

Altezza is the RHD Toyota production version. I have an altezza badge on my IS300 lol
Owning a lhd IS300 almost a year now , from my childhood on this was one of my favorite cars to have , dreams come true after all ❤

Bought an is300 when I was 15 and it’s been an amazing ride, haven’t modded it because you simply don’t have to. It drifts right out of the box no problem.
$5000-$10000 on marketplace usually all of them have over 250-300k miles goodluck finding one with less 🤷🏻♂️

Umm, BMW 3 series predates the Lexus. In fact it goes all the way back to the 70's, and were successors to the cult classic BMW 2002 in the 60's which helped introduce the concept of the affordable sports sedan when BMW wasn't the upscale brand it is now, and further going back to cars like the BMW 1500 then 1600, then 2002 and the 2002. The whole idea of the Japanese sports sedan came from trying to ape the BMW 1500 to 2002, leading to cars like the legendary Datsun 510.
yeah, i dont think i could trust a 2jz ge at 600 hp with stock internals. Those pistons and rods need to be replaced. Too small and fragile

The reason why some is300's are expensive is cause some have the 5 speed with lsd from factory. Those are pretty damn rare since the community (for the most part) will agree on the fact being 15% of all is300's were manual and that doesn't account for the lsd either. Same ordeal with the wagon, but those never came in manual. The 01-05 is300's came with 215 hp too I think. But they are great beginner cars if you can find a manual around 10 - 15k. The biggest issue with the manual is the clutch dampener, which is normally deleted. One last note, parts are not cheap. At all. Don't forget this car is around 20ish years old, not many companies sell parts for this car (that are reputable) but atleast there is a large community behind it.

Facts! I have an 05 and nothing is cheap for my sexy machine! She's a killer! I love this car so much! I'll never sell her! She's so reliable as the road of the 2J never gets old! She sounds so aggressive!

There's a lot of downfalls to this car aswell, people act like the manual version is super special but it's by far one of Toyotas weakest transmission hence why they just went with a650e automatics for their V8 lineup because it help up to the abuse more..
I agree the is300 is good first car material..

People would start buying it. any social media or information it can be TH-cam snap Instagram etc. The difference between you and dount media and prob other content they talk about it once and done. The more you talk about car the more f up you make the prices because now everyone want something that ppl think is special and it really not. It proven other cars can make similar hp on the stock motor. That engine isn't really top of the line tbh with you it a water down engine I am not going to give examples of motors because I don't want to f up other new driver with a passion for cars. That want to get something nice on a deal. Not bc a youtuber talk about it and the seller want a extra 3-5 grand for a car that fuc##k bs.

Probably because people act like this car is the perfect car...and owning multiple Lexus models GS, SC,LS the is300 is my least favorite gotta throw quite a bit of money in em to make it a "fast" car, engine bay space isnt the best, trunk space is subpar for a sedan, interior parts are cheaper, manual version are actually worse for power then the a650e, more restrictive exhaust manifold, sunroofs start to leak after weather strip goes bad messing up the inside, smaller wheel package etc..
All stuff that can be fixed but like I said definitely not a perfect car maybe for someone looking to just drive it stock like dude said "first car" material everyone knows nobody smart get their dream car for their first whip ...

Just picked up a 1JZGTE 5speed is300 few days ago. It's by far now my favorite car to drive and I have an STI, Forester XT and jetaa TDI as well. IS is KING
I've had my IS300 since 2015 and love it. First car and keeping it for life. Another great thing about the IS300 is the fact it has a timeless design.

Love this car so much I have to e is300 2jz as a first car
the 2jz ge in the is300 is the vvti version and due to having the vvti thinner rods and pistons they are known to blow up after about the 350-400hp mark. for 600hp on "stock" internals in a 2jz ge vvti you need to put the non-vvti pistons and rods in...
also sad to live in australia where these are not cheap anymore. I had an is300 for 7k but it was thrashed to shit. My ex got one recently for 12k which is nice, has full suspension mods and some eurolines which look sick on an is300. but for australians is300 is about 10-12k for a decent one and about 13k-15k for an altezza or beams swapped IS
unfortunately not cheap or forgotten about for what it is here, that being sad everything 2jz has popped off here. a year ago a gs300 was worth about 2-5k now everyone be asking 8-10k

I’ve Owned my 05 original 5speed for 2 years now and I’ll never sell it. Drives better then most 2015+ cars even with its age they simply don’t over engineer or even come close to making cars like these anymore let alone engines like the 2j with as much potential as they have with the reliability

Bought an is300 in 2019 lasted me 2 years bc the previous owner clapped it out but those were the best 2 years of my life it drove like a dream even in limp mode I love that car so much I sold it and I’m looking for better condition is300 or Ls400

I bought a 5 speed 03 IS300 from the original owner. I can't express how much I love this car. I've done maintenance and cleaning. Can't bring myself to "modify" it lol. Got it with 94k 😊

i agree that the is300 is a great car but i cant really call it a luxury car, i know the lexus brand means a luxury toyota, and its reliable, but not luxurious in my opinion, the luxurious IS cars start from the 2nd gen is (xe20)

coming from an e30, they are def. not easier to work on. IS300 Alternator, oil filter location and headlights all suck to access. With that being said the reliability I traded for was worth it. im over building a racecar that is uncomfortable im 30 i want some comfort. this is the sweet spot for a good DD.

IS300s are honestly no longer great first cars. Well atleast for in the United States. Only about 78k IS300s were ever made and everyday they get crashed and clapped out from take over kids and kids who don’t know how to properly drive cars. Probably about 30k IS300s left in the world. Within the last 4 years IS300 prices have doubled making a low mileage clean example 5-speed auto cost 7k-8k maybe 10k. 4 years ago you could get a clean manual IS300 for 7k-9k. Now autos are selling for what manuals used to sell for. Now 250k mile cream interior that’s trashed and clapped out sell for 5k-6k. For that price these cars are no longer worth it due to so many being crashed, clapped out and kids buying them bc “Supra engine”. IS300s with about 170k miles and clean condition should max be 5k-6k, not the 8k that people are asking for.
Totally agree, they are great cars but definitely not worth the price now, even here in Australia finding a clean auto with 100k miles will set you back 12-15k usd

Is300 sportcross owner here. Absolutely love mine, it's my first car. I will say that the sportcross has a wagon tax. It's about double the price but the reactions you get with the sportcross make the price tag worth it.
The sportcross also has a better weight balance then the sedan.
Where I live the sportcrosses are actually 2x cheaper than the regular sedans. But it's not uncommon for sedans to be more expensive than wagons here.
@@genericworks9092 well at least in the United States where wagons are less common they often command more. We only had around 3000 for the US market. Over seas the same can not always be said.

@@daniel.m3257 There have been plenty of videos on IS300s and the price usually stays the same because people who sell them probably aren't looking at youtube to see what the price should be. They would be looking at other IS300s of the same status as the one they would be selling.
