    So I've only used this pressure washer one time. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP The one time I used it, it worked great. I recently had new siding installed but kept the old gutters and small areas surrounding my house that weren't replaced so they looked horrible and dirty because of the new siding. I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. Also, I purchased a used one to save money and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I want to get more use out of it so I think I'll be washing the cars and update this comment as time goes on.

    Good review. I also put it together before realising the app gave you better details. There is quite a lot of assembly which I don't remember with other older models. Never used the App and its a bit of a gimmick in my opinion. I am sure it's a big step up from the K2. However I wished I never bought it now. It's great at cleaning but there are some fundamental issues for me. Firstly, The hose is rubbish. It kinks like nothing at all. The hose reel makes the situation worse. I had an old K6,75 and thats load better as the hose is a proper rubber one and faces forward. The 10m hose on the K5 (which is why I bought it) is only really 7m with all the kinks in it. The old K6 had a water hose reel build in as well (although I rarely use it). The other issue are the wheels on the K5 they are so small that they are only any use on tarmac. Any drives with loose stones and you'll be lifting the K5 up to move the stones around your drive with it. They are half the size of the old K6.75. At the end of the day I paid a lot of money for something not as good as my old K6.75 which I will get repaired and I'll sell my K5. Very disappointed as I have been spoilt by the K6.75. If you've used a K2/K3 then you'll be pleased albeit the hose will drive you mad. (Check our other reviews). If I couldn't get my K6.75 repaired I should have bought a K4 and a decent hose from eBay/amazon.

    Thanks for the great review. I'm still using my old K5 Full Control from 4 ....or may be 5 years and I started looking at the newer models. That app features are something I will probably never use and It can't really make me buy new one for that ........ but the hose reel, damn that's the real game changer.

  • @Martyntd5

    I think it's worth mentioning that many people buy Karchers with the immediate intention of upgrading the lance and hose. The hose particularly, is awful on them. The extra length of the 10m hose is nice, but you've just gone from a short rubbish hose to a long rubbish hose. A proper commercial grade high pressure rubber hose is much, much, much better and can be had with Karcher fittings for about £40. The lance is also a common upgrade with many people preferring a stubby gun and angled extension wand on quick disconnects, together with a series of dedicated nozzles. They make car cleaning so much easier. If this is your plan, then this version of the K5 is the wrong one to get. A K5 compact can be had for just over £200 and then spend another £150 on hose and lance upgrades ...and a foam cannon ...for a much better system with professional grade hose and attachments, for about the same budget as a K5 smart control with it's rubbish hose, gimmicky lance and no foam cannon ...and you still get the Karcher dirt blaster lance for doing your patio.

      @kwl189 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess the only thing is, that this unit has a hose reel. For me, that's convenient if I can swap it out for my own hose, quick release and stubby gun setup.

      Do any of the karcher range offer a rubber industrial grade hose?

    • @Martyntd5
      @Martyntd5 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidpayne6544 I'm not 100% sure but I think the answer is no. But I wouldn't buy a particular model for the hose, because commercial grade rubber pressure washer hoses are available from numerous outlets, come in a variety of lengths, are pre-fitted with Karcher connectors and are pretty cheap.

    You notice appreciable differences between the k5 and the k2 after having used them, what has been your real experience with them, do you think it is worth changing a k2 for a k4 or k5 ?, I await your clarification, greetings.

    I just threw my Karcher in the trash! So many problems:
    A: The small "Smart Control" remote on the handle that allows you to control the power runs on batteries! Of course, when you need the Karcher, the batteries are dead and the machine only gives you a quarter of its power.
    B: After changing the batteries, the remote doesn't recognize the Karcher (a synchronization problem perhaps?) Result: you only get a quarter of the power.
    C: The on-off rotary button works randomly, as if there is a bad connection. You have to shake or tap the Karcher on the ground to unblock the connection.
    D: By hitting the Karcher on the ground repeatedly, I ended up breaking a wheel (I have to admit I was a little frustrated!)
    E: When changing tools (foam cannon or lance...), there is a small yellow piece (spacer) that holds a seal. It's located on the tool itself and seals the connection between the tool and the lance. Well, this piece constantly falls out and worst of all, it gets stuck at the bottom of the lance, making it nearly impossible to remove. I bought a new "seals/spacer" kit for 20€ (still!!), but the problem persists.
    This machine drove me crazy, even though I'm generally a calm person. Furious, I took the Karcher and smashed it on the ground. Then I picked up the pieces with a dustpan and broom.
    I ended up buying a Stihl RE272 instead. Of course, it's not the same budget, but this machine works amazingly well, and I realized that the hydraulic hose is of much better quality. With Karcher, it's a real pain to wind or unwind the hose. With Stihl, it's a real pleasure.
    Sometimes, it's better to spend more money than to throw it away.

    The only K5 that doesn't come with a 10m hose is the compact model. The app functionality is a pointless feature to inject 'technology' into a device that absolutely does not need it. The most amazing thing of all is people actually buy it. The K5 itself is a great power washer, with good pressure, flow rate, and reliability, and that's what really counts.

    • @Martyntd5
      @Martyntd5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree. I bought a K5 Compact recently with the intention of immediately upgrading to a 10m rubber hose, which I would have done whatever version of the Karcher I bought, because the stock hoses are all garbage. Buy the cheapest machine in the range and spend the difference on quality hose and accessories.

    good review but i have to say that high pressure hose that karcher supply is pants. it is kinkier than jimmy saville in a dress.
    i am considering upgrading my k4 to k5 (would go k7, but my mains flow is lower than the min recommended 12 litres per min).
    the hoses on all karchers are bad and that will be immediate upgrade for me.
    i cant help think that karcher would have more returning customers if they supplied a kink free hose of good length.

      The main differences between the K4 and the K5 are the materials used in the pump: full aluminium for the K5 and N-cor for the K4 (part polymer, part aluminium). The K5 is slightly heavier and studier than the K4 with a higher max water flow (500l/h vs 420l/h) and pressure (145 bar vs 130 bar). They are both brushless motors (more durable and less noise compared to a classic electric motor) but the K5 is slightly punchier (2100W vs 1800W for the k4), since its pump is more capable. They are very similar and deliver comparable performance but personnally, I paid a little extra and got the K5 to get the peace of mind with the more durable full aluminium pump. In any case, you should never wash your car in full power to avoid damaging the silicon seals around the windscreen and believe me, It can happen very quickly!

The way i see it, the app is just a gimmick, you get a better hose reel on the premium models but you actually get a worse thinner hose that just tangles - where as on the compact models its actually really decent out of the box, and the detergent bottle on the premiums cant really match a foam lance so i'll not miss it lol.
