Patience and perseverance sometimes pay off, but not always. I'm so pleased you were able to get your B&G watch repaired for such a reasonable price. Here in Kansas City Missouri there is only one independent watchmaker left in the city. The rest are likely as you describe. My local independent watchmaker is not inexpensive, but he does excellent work and appears to have no bounds in the repair of antique watches. If only such folks were available in less populated areas.
I also appreciate vintage watches that can be made to tell time.
I started out on my watch adventures with the attempt to get my grandfather's watches to function. Neither watch could I afford to return to a workingy state. But I could get my father's 1963 Timex Marlin back in working order. This sparked my current interest in watches. And I am so thankful that it has. Your YT channel has been most helpful. My best to you and Mr. Bond, Sir as you're videos have been very helpful (or is that expensive?). Best to you, Glenn.

Congratulations on finding this watch Oleg! I loved hearing the story of the repair and seeing the watch working again. My favourite vintage watch I own is my grandfather's watch that he wore during WW2. Thank you for another great video :)

Yes! I have the same watch, or a version of it, and it did the same to me with the chronograph but within a week of getting it as a gift from my wife. Even so, I absolutely love it.

Thanks for the good story and the transparency about the repair. It's always great to see these old watches get a new life. My Frenchy Brie asks Bond to to be quiet and stop snoring/grunting. That's her job and she get's a little jealous.

WOW!! Kuddos on your positive outcome with this watch adventure!! It's hard to describe the feelings you get when you take a leap of faith with a complicated vintage watch. Especially when you already know it has issues!! I'm pretty sure you're excitement was far greater when you were able to get it repaired so inexpensively!!! I may be wrong, but I think you now have a brand new favorite watch maker :) Thanks for sharing this adventure with us, and my best to Bond!!!

Thank you my friend. When I heard from "my" watchmaker that it will cost $450 to fix this watch I was very disappointed. Getting it fixed for $130 is amazing and I think I'm very lucky. Now I have a new goto watchmaker.

Fantastic video mate and you hit the nail on the head at the end. It's all about how a watch make you feel. That's the most important thing about buying and owning watches. As you know I love vintage watches but you are right you do have to be careful. I've been stung 🐝 a couple of times with them. But if you know what you maybe getting into and tread carefully with your eyes open I do think there is a massive amount of enjoyment to be had from vintage. Enjoy the B&M it's a stunner!

Hello Oleg. To buy a watch in such condition was always a question for me. =) I can understand beautiful aged patina on a dial but this particular dial is smth that I cant handle. Though there are lots of people who find this dials charming. Great review, like usual. Keep on doing such a great work! BR.

Hi Oleg, awesome video! I live in B.C. and have a wire lug WW1 watch that needs a watchmaker!
Here in the Okanagan, there is not a lot of choices for watchmakers.
Could you recommend me the one that you used. Thx

      1. More expensive expert watchmaker: Norbert on Davie and Homer

In getting your car repaired, you can pay $1300 at a chain or $300 at an independent garage for the same job, if you take the time and do your research.... There are some (not all) independent garages that have reasonable prices.

@@24hourstime They are durable, cheap, have retro styling, and have been made for a long time with little changes. Mostly handmade as well. They have stopped being made a few years ago. 1960's and 70's styling and you can buy one made in the 60's or one made in 2016 and both have the same movement, size, and styling. Newer models are there as well. Made in India.

Nice watch but realistically you wouldn't be able to get close to $1,000 if you sold it, you definitely got a good deal but the title is just a little click baitey. Also, its unlikely John performed a full service on the watch, the issue you described where it doesn't fly back to 12 100% of the time indicates there still something wrong so he likely just swapped out some parts to get it back to a running condition.

Hammer and the chrono runners are the problem... could also be the slide spring was worn out or bent out of shape for being 60 ish years old... i own a mid to late 40s landeron 48 myself... wouldnt trade it for a omega everrrrr... being over 70 years old and still running...

awesome vid as usual, Oleg. to answer your question, my favorite vintage watch is 1963 Omega Seamaster with rice bead original bracelet. Mine is in absolutely pristine condition. www.superlativetime.com/product/vintage-omega-seamaster-automatic-watch-ref-166-010-1963 this is NOT MY watch, but I just wanted to show you how it would look like. exactly the same.
By the way, I only have one watch guy, so as per your instruction, I guess that I should look for a couple of them more, at least to compare the pricing. that would be a good idea.
    thanks again, Oleg.
