    Great video. One thing to note is that the 7 actually has arch support where past metcons were basically flat and offered no arch support. This is great news for those that over pronated in past models. Also the lace lock should only be velcoro'd at the bottom when lacing and thing them. Then you should velcro it back up top.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True - and I think that’s why I naturally enjoy this shoe so much for athletic-esque training! I’ll have to mention that in the the 7 VS React video.
      And thank you for the additional note on the lace lock, too. This feature has been very hit or miss thus far for me, tbh. I appreciate your feedback as always 💪

    Heads up, y'all! Despite reaching out to Nike's product team twice and getting 7mm as the heel-to-toe drop in the Metcon 7, Nike has since tweeted out to Joel (as many reviews as possible) that the Metcon 7's heel-to-toe drop remains 4mm. So...that's cool, Nike. Personally, I don't think that's going to be the biggest deal for most folks, but I know some really love the 4mm drop, so this could be a good thing for you in the context it is 4mm after all.
    If it is 4mm, then I have to wonder - why bother putting the Hyperlifts in then? Novelty? Side note, I also don't understand why Nike can't just share product specs like heel-to-toe drop and weight on their product pages, but I digress.

    I prefer the Metcon 7. I like the React cushioning for impact when doing cardio, the stabilizing heel is better for lifting (although you compromise some flexibility), and the upper feels more comfortable… the lace lock is also a good addition.

    Great review again. Which ones do you prefer for flat feet with high in-steps? I’ve always had a problem with shoes being too tight in my in-steps. My feet aren’t really wide, more about average, but not slim; slimmer shoes are a no-go for me. I’ve worn the Metcon 5’s for quite a few months, and they feel pretty good. They are size 9 regular, not wide, which is my typical sneaker size. My first pair of Metcons. If the 6 and/or 7 are too similar, I’m no going to buy either until I wear out my 5’s.

      6s are pretty much identical to the 5s in re: fit. The 7, I think would work for you, too, but has a bit more arch in it.
      IMO, I would hold off. You'll save money. Plus, the Metcon 8 is dropping sometime this summer so the 7's price should see a nice decrease, so you could always cross that bridge when it comes if you want to try something new (7 or 8)!

    The 6s are definitely not true to size. I am a woman and have Size 40 in most of the nike shoes (39 in the others). Metcon 5 fits me perfectly in 40, but metcon 6 was way too small at the toe! I had to size up to 40,5 to get a perfect fit.
    Also, I don't know whether it's only my issue, but the tongue on the 6s is really hard and cuts in every time I move around

    @theorogas ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jake! I know that this video got uploaded a while ago, but I just bought the Metcon 6 after watching your reviews. The shoe feels indeed very comfortable. One thing I noticed though is that the outsole isn't completely flat, when you look at it horizontally underneath from behind the shoe you can see it slightly bends. You can feel the 'swing' when your sitting and slightly apply pressure from the back of your foot to the front. Though you feel it less when standing. Odd question but, is this the case for you too or are mine defect ? I'm really struggling to find flat stable (and comfortable) shoes as my Vans feel like carton lol @thatfitfriend Thanks

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most trainers will have a little toe spring when you’re not standing/displacing your weight in them. That shouldn’t be a problem when squatting/deadlifting, tbh!
      If they’re a no go I could suggest some flatter options!

    • @theorogas
      @theorogas ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thatfitfriend Thanks for the quick reply! I'm slightly biased cause I got really weak legs due to chronic pain problem and severe muscle atrophy. I've tried out squats (bodyweight) and still find that spring to be distracting tbh, as I can't 100% focus on the movement. It's like my foot balances up and down from the back left to the front right (left foot) and vice versa for the other foot. Maybe I'm overthinking it or can't apply enough force for the sole the flatten out completely during exercise idk. The issue isn't really the slightly 'curled' toebox but rather the outsole being bend.. It's a bummer cause they really are comfortable! Anyway, what would be other shoe models you'd recommend? cheers

    I got my metcon 7’s today after not looking at any reviews on them. I have been cycling through my 4’s and 5’s for years and love them. It’s my daily wear walk around shoe. I like minimalistic and function. The second I put the 7’s on I felt like they ruined my favorite shoe. I’m going to wear them tomorrow for the day and see how my opinion changes. It they’re working fine, then keep rocking them! The 5 & 6 are solid.

      @@thatfitfriend And yes they are solid! I switched to them after I had an unfortunate accident with the Reebok Nano 8s that injured me and I gotta tell you, they're the best workout shoes (aside from lifters and runners) that I've ever had! Seriously, they fit me like a glove and it's very hard to find shoes that fit me like that because of how my feet are so, ever since I've been working out in them, I haven't had any major problems with them.

    It is very weird, because for me, who has always used US 12 in Nike and equivalent cm lenght in other kinds of shoes, the metcons 7 were very small. I would say they ran at least half size short, perhaps even a full size. I will return them and I was thinking about the 6's. but if you say sizing is basically the same, I'm not sure if a 12,5 will be enough... Ah man, this shitty country when It's hard to even find a 11-11.5. and above 12 it's almost impossible.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The metcon line is notorious for running a bit slimmer/tighter than other Metcons. Obviously, it’s tough for me to say definitively without knowing your foot anatomy, but a 12.5 in the Metcon 6 could be a good call.

      Not bad! I’ve pulled up to 505 lbs in them and they were stable enough. Not the most, but def not worry for a lot of lifter, imo!

    Hey man, nice review
    I practice more the powerlift, like squats, deadlifts, hip thrust, etc.
    Im interested in buying these metcoons or the romaleos 4, which one will u recommend me?
    Im 5'9

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you want something for tackling everything, then a Metcon will be a better call. Romaleos have a very specific use and that's for lifts where a heel elevation is desired.
      If you go with the 6, you'll have a shoe for tackling versatile training and they also have additional inserts to put in for occasions where you want to train on an elevated heel! IMO, you'd be best served going Metcon 6, then if down the road, you want to dive into weightlifting shoes - invest in a pair of Rom 4s.

      Im so confused but i think than the romaleos could be too obsolete for other ocations, Also are for more professional athletes, so ill see what's better, metcon 6 or 7
