    I have an FS700R and I love it. I use it with a the same set up. I love the image. She’s heavy rigged up however. So I bought also picked up the BMPCC 6K Pro.

    Awesome video! Still holds up in 2024. I plan on getting one of these cameras. I have an Atomos Shogun Inferno for my Canon C100. It will be perfect with the FS700R!
    Thanks again

    Hey Man, thank you very much for your nice video. I was very, very lucky and got a FS700R in very good condition with only 10x10h run time. I got it for 1000€. Also i got a shogun inferno with all accessories in the yellow transport case for 500€. The shogun inferno has only been used 3 times and looks brand new.
    Im hoping to get great results as i allready have a good selection of e-mount lenses for my 7R Mark3.

    I have the same set up, just started shooting raw. Would love to see a video of raw editing workflows with this camera. Learning the slog2 gamma has been sort of a headache for me the past year but I’m able to capture beautiful images with it.

      Do you have Atomos Shogun 4k monitor recorder? For me, I would record the video in cDNG raw format via Atomos and import it into the DaVinci Revolve timeline.

      @@educatetube yes I have the shogun inferno, I have been outputting Apple pro res raw through premier and it’s been nothing but headaches. I haven’t tried cinema dng however, and I love Davinci. I’ll try it today!!

      @marcushess1567 cDNG is a big file (that is why I only record in 1080p 12bit cDNG raw). I have seen some youtubers colour grade with this format beautifully. Just search on TH-cam to see how they do it.

      @@educatetube hey so I went ahead and ran test shots with cinema dng this morning and even indoors with some controlled lighting looked amazing. I’ve been trying to learn how to expose for shadows without the noise, it’s a very noisy camera. However the cinema dng really does look like it unlocked this sensor, and the ability to edit straight through Davinci is a huge plus.
      I’m not sure how far I can push the highlights in raw but I’ll have to shoot more outdoors in this codec. Still learning!

      I will eventually post a video on how to colour grade cDNG from FS700r and Shogun 4k/Inferno. I am learning as well. Best wishes to your film!

    Hi! Great video! I bought exactly the same setup a year ago: same camera with the shogun monitor and mic and I'm really happy with it. I had a couple of questions; recording slow-mo. I have only found a way to record higher Fps internally but not with the Shogun. Is there a way to do it with the Shogun? Also which lenses would you absolutely recommend to buy for cinema with this camera? I only have a kit lens which is not great for low-light conditions but I'm looking into buying the most important lenses to have for cinema. Thanks in advance!

    • @educatetube
      @educatetube  ปีที่แล้ว

      Check if your Sony F700 is upgraded to do 4k RAW/Prores as this will allow it to communicate with Atomos Shogun via SDI cable and give it slow motion capability. Shogun Inferno can do 240fps @2k RAW. I also have the original Shogun 4k but I think it is limited to 120fps @2k. The lenses that I have are 16mm F2.8 E, 28mm F2 FE, 55mm F1.8 FE, 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 FE (kit lens), 18-55mm E(kit lens) and lots of A-mount lenses: 135mm F1.8, 14mm F2.8, 28-70mm F2.8, 70-300mm F3.5-5.6. I also have Nikon lenses with adapters (50mm F1.4, 135mm F3.5). I don't have any cinema lens as it is too expensive; I may want to rent instead and write it off as business expense when doing indie films.

      @@educatetube Thank you so much for the quick and thorough response! I have the Shogun 4K (which is obviously older than the Shogun inferno) so I guess I would have to buy a newer monitor to shoot slow-mo in 4K. As for the lenses, out of all those lenses you mentioned, which two would be the best all-rounders? Meaning, right now my budget would allow me to buy one or two. Thanks a lot again!

    • @educatetube

      @@Gibberish1983 If you are doing manual focusing, get an A-mount adapter and look for A-mount lenses like the16-35mm f1.8/f2.8 lens and/or 28-70mm F2.8 lens; they are cheaper but hard to find. Or try Nikon or Canon lenses with adapter to Sony camera (again all manual focusing).

    Doesn't the fs700 have phase detection. Is the auto focus not that great? I can't find good info concerning. Thank you kindly

    • @educatetube
      @educatetube  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I wouldn't rely on the auto focus if the subjects are moving fast. However, if you are sitting and moving your body and head, it is still an amazing studio video camera. For independent films, I would only use manual focus to film the scenes.

    Love your videos … However, what you save in the camera, you spend it in a focus puller … Also, low light performance is not the same, I guess…

    • @educatetube
      @educatetube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is true but I just wanted the second camera to film from a different angle. Having the same camera means I don't have to adjust colour science in post and relearning a new menu system. Saving time and money. I forgot to mention that Sony fs700r has a built-in ND filter! Using Atomos Shogun, I can record cDNG RAW (4k 12bit 444) onto my SSD for fast video editing and match well with my Sigma fp camera (also records cDNG RAW) for recording night scenes. Sigma fp has the best image for low light scenes; it preserves color science for night scenes very well (best low light color science camera out there for cheap).

      Used Sony FS700r cost me $900 CAD, whereas the Sony fx30 would have cost $3000 CAD (includes tax and audio module). Since I already have Atomos Shogun, so this is the best decision I have made.

    Hi , I have had this set up since 2018 when Shogun inferno was just on the market sold around 3000 dollars.
    Pros :image is insane ,too good to be truth for a 10 years old camera .
    Cons :A too much noise when black or dark color in the image.
    B .too heavy to fit in a gimbal with the external Shogun inferno .
    C battery hungry for Shogun Inferno . 2-5 Np-970 ready for it which make your bag much more heavier .
    So now I just take it for interview with plug-in power cable for both camera and Shogun in Shanghai.
    Best wishes !
