This is the accent that's always been my point of reference even though (I'm about to be repetitive, I know 🙄) the true 'T' are irreplaceable for me and the 'A' of the Northerners suits me better 😊
In addition, thanks to you all, brilliant teachers, I fell in love with connected speech which I find essential to speak fluently.

Ed uses a "d" when he says 'at it'. So he is essentially saying 'adit'. It's very common in Suffolk

4:38 He does NOT use the glottal stop between "at" and "it", he is clearly saying "addit", with a D sound. He does use a glottal stop at the end of "it".

In "at it", the "t" at the end of "at" sounded more like a flap T than a glottal T. Am I the only one hearing this?

The lowdown time. Ed has been restoring the house that recently bought for his parents in my little village in Umbria.
Ahh hey Marco, I remember you telling us about how you lived in the same village as Ed's house. Very cool! Do you ever get to chat to him?
@@EatSleepDreamEnglish Never actually. I just saw him one time from a distance at the bar. A friend of mine has a vegetable garden just bordering his house, so when Ed is here he always sees him and his girlfriend going running around there in the countryside.
We pronounce a lot of Ts as Ds. We pronounce at it as adit

In my opinion its pretty hard to hear the glottal t if u speak as fast as ed. but maybe its because im just bad
Most actors I believe, think of the Conservative RP when it comes to taking on roles, mostly because in the old days of Hollywood that was mostly what we were exposed to here in the U.S. . These days (If you're really good) you could imitate a perfect British RP accent and still be told "stick to regional theatre (less exposure)" or "can you at least do a Mid-Atlantic accent?". Meanwhile I don't hear anyone coming down on Colin Firth for his poor Texas accent.

Wouldn't Ed Sheeran's accent be explained as more estuary English with a modern RP leaning rather than modern RP?
the things u said about linking the sounds also apply to american english... so... that's not something stand out for rp accent.
for the most part, drop the t at the end and drop or dun drop the double t.

I don't think Ed Sheeran is an RP speaker for exactly the inconsistencies you pointed out. If David Gilmour is an RP speaker, then Ed Sheeran couldn't be.
