Honestly no Ian, but in ALL honesty i don't like those "roads" at all, you basically wait to do 100 meters and then stop again, not so fun for me but i don't blame who can have fun with that riding pace. Thank you for the videos anyways 👍🏼♥️
Video like these are awesome. As a beginner dual sport rider in a part of the country with very little trails. It's nice to live vicariously through you. I bought a 2024 KLX300 because of you and I have not looked back. I've owned a few different bikes of all styles and the 300 is by far my favorite. I'll be ordering Tusk Dsports for it here soon because I already wore down the rear tire. Thank you by the way.
What it's all about right there. Use the tool you got to go out and have fun. Enduro, DS, or Adv. Everyone got there and had fun in the process. There's no place for snobbery in the off road world. Great content!
My general consensus of the T7 after the last 8000 miles, 3 BDRs, various two track, and some technical two track/single track is that it feels just like a dirt bike…until you drop it. Props to this dude. Doin stuff like this probably helps quite a bit when goin on BDRs.
I am glad you posted this. The guy is an obviously skilled rider but I am over 55 so now I believe more strongly in lighter is better. It would be amazing to see how he could do that on a 300cc two stroke. I bet he would be screaming down that trail.
That KLX looked like it was doing great without a lot of drama. Good job riding. NIce video also. Sometimes it is good just to see a trail ride and hear that you guys are having fun. 👍
After watching Pol Tarres taking the Tenere on hardcore enduro races, it tells me the Tenere can take on anything, the only limitation is the skills of the rider.
I'm reminded of Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor in Mongolia (?) struggling with their big bikes and getting rescued by these tough little, simple bikes after they broke the frame on one of their BMW's. It's not that you can't and I applaud the effort... My experience is mostly in the dirt but right now I'm kind of in the opposite direction. Exploring long tours on a bike with no wind protection (at this point I have no idea how that will wear on me but I will find out) and definitely not an off road bike. It's great to see what the T7 can do. We all find the bike we want...eventually. Good stuff Ian.
Ian I live in Ireland and here we are blest with some beautiful countryside. But I gotta tell you it's nothing like that playground you have to play in. WOW 👌
They say ........... Run what you brung!! Looks like a damn good time, and its always fun to try to go places on the adv bikes where they are not expected .......... We crossed deep creak one time out of arrowhead on ADV bikes, damn it sucked, luckily the water level was low, the rocks were great equalizers for the heavy bikes but the stories around the campfire still live on today!
The guy in the T7 is a legend. Besides that, this video is proof a KLX 300 or CRFR300L is all the bike you need. They may be a bit heavier but do the job just fine and dont break the bank.
Old dude here. Nice riding skills. I bet a KTM 300 2 stroke would have been nice. My last woods bike was a Xr 400. That electric start would have been nice. I now ride a 300L RE himi and the ol mile slayer Harley ultra. I love all bikes and have had many. Ian. Once again you’re the best. Thanks
Very interesting ride that’s such a challenging trail, and wow what a bike to put down that trail. Looks like it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next one.
Glad you kept the klx for a while longer. Thanks for showing how it clearly "can" be a beneficial choice over ADV. This more than I "plan" to get into, but if I do get into trouble, the klx makes me better equipped to get through it, get out of it, or turn around and go back. This trial is so tight, if you fell back, it would be really difficult for anyone to turn and come back to check on you.
Amazing! and that guy on T& is an expert I guess :).. I bet Chris Birch will love this trail, he has a habit of slaying tough trails like this on an 890/1290 big ADVs 😄
I have both bikes and I crashed a lot on my T7 off-road and it was the reason I got the KLX. Both bikes are awesome but really your skills matter off-road. I like having the T7 it is good on the highway and heavy off-road. The KLX great off-road and limited on the fast highways. They are a good Batman and Robin lol.
I ride my 23 KLX on trails like that here in UT pretty often… I wouldn’t dream of taking a T7 on them, but the KLX eats them up! It’s also easy to pick up if you do drop it 😂
Ian, have you ever watched Mat Spears ride his Goldwing? If not, you MUST go and check him out! It is so hilarious, insane, and extremely entertaining. I stumbled on the vid titled Honda Goldwing Off Roading, and couldn’t resist binge watching the rest of the Goldwing series.
@@verlinswarey507 Right?! I just looked, and he’s catching traction like crazy! If memory serves me right he’s acquired about 40k subs in about a year... Rightfully so.

The CB did pretty well but the rally raid skid plate took an absolute thrashing, I actually bent it, better than an oil sump failure though. Only fell once. Id take the XT250 next time now that I have it.

Hi Ian, what do you think about the KLX 300 compared to a wr250F or a CRF250X? The carburetor version. I recently bought a used CRF250X after selling a 350 EXC-F a couple of years ago. I got the itch again after doing a little bit of technical stuff on my 890 ADV. At 55 and a C rider at best. I am not sure that’s smart. I haven’t had a carburetor bike in many years. I should have bought a used Freeride Electric someone was selling in my area instead.
I did hard enduro with my CB500x. It was just painful and exhausting. It's not the bike, it's all the rider at this point. In my case, I include my friend that help me push, tug and pull it free of where I get it stuck.

Yes folks - tall bikes aren't made for possums.
I’m not sure if I know what that means, but I agree with it.
And of course, this trail doesn't look as difficult in video as it is in real life.
I wouldn't dare go there alone. Not to mention on a T7
I could imagine having to pick that bike up or the damage to the muffler if the T7 rider had not gone slow and got off and walked parts of that trail.
I am not the target demographic for that trail. 😆
Fun fact.. with each bike crossing, the trail gets a bit harder
the videos seems to have too much sharpening while the bitrate is low and the compression is too high. distorts a lot the footage.
I also take my bike on walks sometimes.
Love the ride but video was blurry
I know, different strokes for different folks. But to me that just didn't look like fun!
