    Fantastic. Never stopped riding tubulars, having started doing so around 82' 😅. Cool to see a video validate what I've stated for years i.e., it's easy to change a flat. (Guarantee the 30-something naysayers don't even use tubulars.) The old SOP I learned was, you glue the tires on your road training wheels "half-ass" like as in, it takes 5 minutes and it's therefore easy to change. (On an old rim with built-up glue, they will set very firmly anyway.) Race and track wheels get the full-welded procedure of course. Just used the sealant hack on a CX tire. Perfect. Tufos don't even have a latex tube so in that case you can pre-load the tire with sealant.

    I rarely get flats on my tubulars never a pinch flat and that's with 38 years of riding them. I carry around a container of Vittoria pitstop and that works great! In fact I just went 9700 miles in between flats with them! Thanks for doing a piece on tubulars they get such a bad rap all the time!

      The riders that grouse about sewups most likely have never used/ridden them. Usually they repeat myth and phony lore. If you go with any tire system, you must fully commit to that particular platform. Tubulars really are the fastest, safest, and most reliable tires available.

    • @waynosfotos

    Had bad experience with sealant on tubs. Yes it seals small punctures and your valves too, two of my friends had sealants on their tubs, had to replace them coz they cant pump air anymore.

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never had a problem with the valve, i do remove to put the sealant in.
      But if you run latex tube tubulars the sealant does attack the tube over time, 6-12 months later so that is a def a negative.

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure, remove the tyre, remove the tape, or glue (using a hairdryer/heatgun) but be careful, just enough to soften the glue so you can use a rag to wipe it off (no need to remove all, just the excess).
      Then store in a cupboard on a coat hanger.
      Remember if you have had sealant in it this may not work as the sealant could stick the tube inside.

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No i don't, you can take some tubular tape if you feel like, some people glue the tyre and fold it on its self. I have a video how to fold. Once the tyre is inflated it will stay on, just don't push hard in the corners and it will get you home so you can then fix properly. But most of the time take out the valve, pop sealant in, it is fixed. Remember cheap tubulars like conti sprinters, don't have removable valves. Don't buy these tyres and you will be 95% of the time good with sealant.

    is it safe to ride a tubular without having it glued?

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes as the pressure in the tyre pushes in all directions holding the tyre on. BUT don’t push hard in corners trying to scrap the pedals as this may roll a tyre. It is just to get you home. If you want to ride and corner at race pace, best to carry some tape and put that on first. (See my other vid on putting on tape). Or pre glue the spare tyre and fold as I instructed

    • @domestique3954
      @domestique3954 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No,it isn’t-it might come off when you go round the corner.....
      BUT there’s kinda liquid red glue,if you you use that,most of the glue will still remain on the rim
      and that will secure the new(better carry a used tubular with you,because that one has already been stretched out
      and will be easier to put on!) tubular
      There’s no better “feeling” and rolling of the tyres than Vittoria tubulars!
      That’s why most of the riders yesterday in Flanders had these tyres in use!🤙

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like the nylon idea, brilliant, but the myth tubulars are more faff is just not true now we have the mounting tape, you could even use the tape on the side of the road if you cared too. I have a clincher rain bike with high end clinchers on and so far they have been more trouble. But everyone to their own opinion and choice. Clinchers i do agree are the best all round system today for general use bicycles.
      The biggest problem for tubulars today is availability.
