  • In this sermon for the Third Sunday of Lent, we focus on how the Scripture readings from Ephesians 5 and Luke 11 form a cohesive spiritual vision for Christian life, show us the importance of continued obedience to Christ throughout our spiritual walk, the dangers of apostasy and demonic oppression, and how our reactions, even though well-intended and full of "righteous indignation" attempt to put ourselves in God's place and do what God does not do to us, which is to force love and compliance with the Holy Spirit. This Lent, we must be mindful of our reactions, our motivations, and our own fallenness, and strive to cleanse our hearts by the power of God's Word from all evil influences. May God give us protection, wisdom and growth!
