Absolutely tremendous restoration but, why choose such a inappropriate colour scheme? I would far rather have seen it restored in the beautiful , and dignified, classic white. Only my opinion it’s still a work of art, albeit modern.
@@22pcirish I'm from Scotland so I don't think I 'think' like the folks in the US do. However, the colour chosen is not too removed from an original paint colour from the factory back in the 60s. My dad owned many Mercedes cars from the early 50s through to his death in the late 70s and, I myself have owned (and still drive) many newer models. I drove my dads 1956 220S the day I passed my test, a car which he gave to me when he purchased a 220SE Fintail. I may be mistaken but I'd wager any of you who have commented on the cars looks would love to own it just the way it is, I know I would.
For me, just a very bad colour choice!!! The car deserved more considerartion in this aspect. As a matter of fact, a very Beautiful masterpiece indeed.
I agree, and so might the restorers, however this may be a private commission, with the owner specifying their colour. One cannot expect the restorers to comment as it wouldn't be their place to do so
Great work but I am sorry as I seriously don’t like the colour and I don’t understand the interior change. Otherwise great work and may you have thousands of pleasurable drives😊
@@johnandrews3568 An LS??? SACRILEGE!! The only unit he should have 'dropped in it' would have to be a proper engine, you know, like an AMG of any flavour.
The owner has the choice to paint it in whichever colour he choses, who are we to find fault in his preferences? For what its worth, the colour chosen is not far removed from a factory colour of that era. I know that for fact, I owned one back in the 60s.
A wonderful car, iconic and timeless. But that green.......is something that would appeal on a bubbletop Chevy in LA, but not on this classic. Against the orange-hued zebrano wood it is garish. Otherwise a skilled restoration at eye-watering cost no doubt.
Without question a very professional restoration, especially the body work. But all the not original things like polished or gold painted engine parts, interior modifications and terrible, not original color ruin the whole thing to me. Now it's not an authentic restoration any more after all this work... I didn't finish the whole video because I don't wanna see this beautifully started restoration going into some "pimp my ride" custom car. What I saw was already enough. Why waste such a classic W111 for that and not take something else as the base? Would even be cheaper. Sorry, I just don't understand that. In Germany this would not even been considered a classic car anymore after all these mods. What a waste imho... Sorry
You're going a little over the top there mate. You are not the owner and the owner is king. As you quite rightly pointed out, once a car is restored, it is no longer original and, if the restoration makes the car as beautiful (which you obviously missed out on) as it is, then so be it. A car is only original once, no matter what you say they do in Germany, they are still not original if they have been restored. The ONLY thing I agree with you on was the gold colouring of the plumbing on the engine (although the originals WERE gold in colour too) which were a shade too gold for my liking too.
not to under estimate your work, but when money is not a problem, then every thing is possible; i have a 1965 fintail w111 and i know how expensive the parts would add to. also please use the proper thumbnails other wise this would be misleading.
Just going to see if I can find any coins down the back of the settee to see if I can purchase it. 😮😮 Beautiful vehicle 50 - 50 on the paint colour though.
Great colour on Kadett C Coupe, but alas it’s not for this beautiful classic, always when restoring an old car stick to the original FACTORY colour/colours , this way it looks original when finished, otherwise an amazing piece of workmanship, well done to all
Interesting. This car has registration numbers from Poland, from the city of Toruń. These are the yellow numbers of a vintage car. Such a car had to have a special permit to leave my country. Did you buy it in Poland? :)))
Really nice work, meticulously performed but the colour choice is tremendously poor to say the least (i.e. horrendous), elegance vanished after that and you have really derogated all your excellent work. IMHO you should have picked a paint scheme for the original factory paint colour catalogue since it is a CLASSIC car.
Просто покупать за мегатонны денег новые оригинальные кузовные элементы и их менять - очень сложная работа, снять поставить, отрезать приварить - это просто!!! попробуй сделать достойно когда нет уже запасных частей.
The 4 door variant w111's can be had cheaply in the US, for the most part Americans do not apricate these cars. There is a blue 4 door fuel injected one on my local FB market place for just $1500 USD (Dec 2024).
Whoever paid for it must have so much money that they have to find ways of spending it to satisfy their fragile ego and all they have is a piece of jewellery to put on a trailer to concourse meetings
This isn't a restauration but more a bunch of photos and music why not showing the work talk it all together tell us where to find parts what were the difficulties yes more like a real restauration.😢
Paintjobs often ruine the origine of a car. Keep the old paint like it is, that will make the car an interesting object. An object with a story to tell....
Thats some seriously ugly work under that car. I have one which was similar and it was easier to simply replace the entire chassis section front and rear.
Sometimes these restorations are so good, I feel it is better to go for a restored car rather than buying a new one. Beautiful.
Wow! I find myself drooling all of a sudden..
Silver metallic with blue leather interior would suit this one
Agreed.
Deep cream paintwork, and red leather interior would work too.
All that work for that Green color. :(
I had an ex Dutch embassy 1968 250se. Quite a novelty being left hand drive in New Zealand. Loved it.
Beautiful !
Probably about 5kg of the original vehicle left. Great job. You guys are magicians.
Gorgeous!
absolutely splendid

Just another example that you can't buy taste with money.
@@citizaniac149It was done in America. Enough said.

People make interesting choices when restoring cars. Sometimes they pull it off. Sometimes they don't.
wunderschönes Auto 👍
Отличная работа. Очень красиво. Хорошо, что есть комментарии и спокойная музыка. Получился просто шикарный Мерседес. Удачи в работе.
that's crazy. well done.
Danke, dass Du dieses Auto gerettet hast.

Inspired by Matchbox😂
God we had one of these! Went round corners like it was on rails…..Great car… I loved this and my W140 best of all my Benz’s…
This must be the most beautiful restauration of my wonder car I have ever seen.
Nice restoration, meticulously performed but feel the ball was dropped with the color. Would rather have seen it in a factory color of the period.
I agree, and so might the restorers, however this may be a private commission, with the owner specifying their colour. One cannot expect the restorers to comment as it wouldn't be their place to do so
So sad that money sometimes does not bring good tast
Yes it will stand out...but for all the wrong reasons
Where it will be immediately sold shipped to Dubai. Bye bye car. Beautiful work.
Sweet colour well done
Kann ich das auch mal sehen, wenn es fertig ist? Einer von den schönsten Merc. 👏🥰
This is a classic car this Mercedes Benz W111 220SEb 1965 in the 20th century very historical.
Great work but I am sorry as I seriously don’t like the colour and I don’t understand the interior change. Otherwise great work and may you have thousands of pleasurable drives😊
This project looks well done but if the color palate was not a factory choice, it was a huge waste of time and money....
agree 100%. Was never a MB factory colour. Looks like a Hot Wheels, so should have bagged the suspension and dropped an LS inside. oh well.

Superb !!!
Cost must be 1000x the price of the original? Normal people just cannot do this.
OMG what would make anyone pick that colour 😱For a car that is this good 👎
Lovely restoration. I like a bit of green.

Would like to know much the restoration cost. That said excellent job.
Fantastisch!
nice paint colour, but outside green and inside green is too much green. Cognac brown would have been better!

Remiendos arriba de los remiendos ?
Horribel interior. Far from original spec!

The most horrible color they could hace chosen! Ver y ugly. They ruined it!!
Agree ugly color for a vintage car
Yes, and the colour can be changed again, but what about the Interieur???
„Dystauration“?
Agree very bad color choice
