- This is a quick demonstration of BAM (Better Arcade Mode) 3D head tracking using one PS3 Eye Camera and a 3 point Infrared LED hat. It basically makes the game look like its a 3D image without the need for 3D glasses.
This is using the Freetrack method by running FaceTrackNoIR for tracking first... then BAM uses that for tracking in Future Pinball.

The flat to 3D transition is just amazing!
Pedro Campelo yea it like Augumented Reality.
Man this is from 6years ago. I’m just learning about how cool pinball is!! I’m losing my mind over how wonderful it all is!!! I love it lol.
Wow, thanks. And subscribed. I see you were an Amiga fan back in the day as well. This brings back the memory of getting my X-Specs 3D glasses for Christmas and playing Space Spuds in 3D all day long on my A1000. It wasn't very practical for long periods but it was cool as hell back in the 80's. Got a spare PS3 Eye and now I know what to do with it!!
This is so rad. Awesome job!
It looks really cool and thought about adding it then realized I don't walk around my machine when I am playing so I don't see a practical use for this but again it does look cool.
This is amazing
This is AWESOME Terry
If that was in the bar and working without having to share hats id play it a hell of a lot :D
BAM can also work with XBOX Kinect which handles face tracking without the lights, so no hat needed.
That's amazing.
is there something similar for FX3 ? :o great job yo!
I've seen comments in other videos and forum posts that this doesn't actually look like this in person, just on camera. What would be the purpose if it didn't look like this in person?
It was intended to work with stereoscopic screens or glasses. When combined with those it looks better than you see here. Otherwise, you need one eye closed to get the same effect, (just like the camera is doing).
@@TerryRed Thanks for the reply and all you do, you LEGEND you!!
Since I posted that comment I actually picked up a Kinect2 and tried this for myself. I have to saw I'm blown away that it DOES look 3D with one eye closed! That said, I couldn't see myself with an eye patch playing pinball unless it was Pirates of the Caribbean or the like. ; ) I was planning to pick up an older 3DTV to do this, but having recently tried VPX on an OLED TV at 4K @120hz I'm not sure I could do less than 4K and 120hz... or at least 120hz. All that said, this head tracking effect is AMAZING even with both eyes open. You lose the actual depth, but the psuedo-3D effect is really cool and is good enough for me. At least it would be IF I could adjust the settings. With both eyes open the bottom of the playfield moves too much, disproportionately so. I think the real magic of this headtracking at this time would be to have a setting for psuedo-3D - just having the perspective change with the eyes. I emailed Rafal some months ago and heard back. I hope someday he implements the ability to adjust this somehow to optimize it for non-stereo-3D usage. I would if I could! I really want this. =D
Can u use this without the hat ??
If you have xbox kinect or a really good webcam for face tracking, yes.
sweet was thinking of making on one with my 980ti and i7 6700 16gb ram runs good on the computer screen kinects are cheap to so thanks
Do you see depth.. Like a real table?
Only while you are moving and thus the viewpoint of the table is moving accordingly. However when standing over a pinball table you are unlikely stay still for long so its very effective.
If you were to wear 3D glasses AND this, it would be even better as the glasses would prevent you losing the depth when your head stops moving.
is it better with the xbox 360 camera?
The best option is either using the two Ps3 eye camera setup, or Kinect V1 (xbox 360), or Kinect V2 (Xboxone). I have never personally used those myself, but others I've talked to say it is better.
Not practical, but awesome.
+Rabbit Juggalo Exactly....even if its something you decide to not use....its damn cool to look at!
