Harvest & Tillage Clean Up

  • Knocking out the last 40 acres of Disk Ripping and working on getting all the equipment cleaned up for the winter. We got water installed about 2 weeks ago, so it's nice to finally be able to clean up everything. The disk ripper's been giving some height issues, so I may have to look at it this winter before returning it.
    There are so many clean-up/farm improvement projects I would like to get done this fall/winter, but so little personal time to get them done. We may have to do most of them next year. Thanks for watching!

      Caden, its almost impossible to get started farming without growing up on a family farm, but if your wise with your money, save and don't go out partying and whoring around with girls, its not impossible. You just have to put your head down and work hard, so its not impossible. It just takes hard work, and be smart with your money, which from the sound of it that is what Grant did. I think Grant is a great example for a kid to look up too. He's clearly got a good work ethic along with a good head on his shoulders, which is rare in this younger generation. If you dont know anything about farming by not growing up on a farm, find someone you can work for and learn from. If you can find a guy who doesnt have any kids, that you can work for and learn from, he may one day help you get started farming after working for him for several years. I think Grant is a pretty smart kid and is good with finances and investing money, which helped him financially to be able to buy ground to get started. If I had a son, I would hope he would turn out like Grant, he is a impressive young man, and a good role model for any young kid to follow that has a dream to be a farmer, but doesn't have family that farms and that doesn't have any knowledge about farming.

    • @cadenalford6346
      @cadenalford6346 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@somersfarm1921 I completely agree, it is pretty much impossible to start a farm from scratch, when I'm older and I'm legally allowed to work, I plan on working for a farmer very close to me, and I'm only 12 so I have big dreams. I hope I get lucky and get some experience from the guy i plan on working for, But I really appreicate the advice. but farming is basically my main goal in life and I hope that things work out and ill be succesful

    • @somersfarm1921
      @somersfarm1921 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cadenalford6346 don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something, even if its family and loved ones that try to squash your dreams by telling you, you can't reach your dream of farming, because you don't have family that farm.
      While it is extremely difficult and next to impossible to start up as a first generation farmer, unless you happen to have the financial ability due to a family member giving you the money or inheriting a large sum of money, it can still be done.
      Getting experience working for someone you obviously have to have, because even if you have a lot of money to start farming without any knowledge you will fail and the money would likely eventually run out, lol.
      With you being only 12 yrs old, save your money, don't worry about being cool and partying and while a guy should always pay when on a date and not let or expect the girl to pay for any of it, don't go crazy spending money on girls as in trying to buy their love, although you should on special occasions send flowers and buy nice gifts, just don't constantly throw money at them though, lol. Get a good nice truck or sports car is fine, but don't constantly be buying nice vehicles just because you can and I say that from experience on buying and trading for new trucks way to often, lol.
      You got to work hard and save, nothing wrong with having some fun going out drinking with friends, but don't get carried away because alcohol can get expensive by partying to much, lol.
      Save, save and save every penny counts, and I can't say that enough. Math is your most important subject in school if you want to be a farmer, concentrate on Math in school the most, and learn all you can about business and investing. Only borrow money that makes money, borrowing money for new cars and trucks and anything that depreciates really, unless its business related, that ultimately makes you money new cars, trucks, 4 wheelers, boats, motorcycles, etc doesn't make you money, so don't take out loans for those type of things, lol.
      1 thing I regret is not learning about investing, I looked at investing in stocks was basically gambling like playing poker or going to gambling casinos, so I stayed clear of investing in stocks, because I considered it like gambling, I was wrong, and wish I would have studied and learned to invest in stocks, instead of just putting money in saving accounts like I did, and especially now days saving account dont make squat.
      Don't be lazy, when working for someone, treat it as it was your own, go the extra mile, having a good work ethic is crucial in any job, but especially farming, you can't be lazy if you want to start farming, and if you have a good work ethic, is half the battle, the other half is knowing how to make money and save. Don't do anything that could give you a bad name, people gossip enough, don't give them a reason to gossip about you and ruin your name.
      Most importantly of all is God, and put all your trust and faith in the Lord and accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, because after all he shed his blood to pay for our sins. Not that being a believer mean you will prosper, despite what false teachers and con artist like the Joel Osteens and those like the Osteens with their prosperity Gospel, that is all a lie, God don't promise to bless you financially, he tells us not to be of this world nor worship materialistic things, being a lover of money is the path to hell, so don't worship it, and give with a open heart. God knows our hearts, and if you put God first about all things and do your best to live in obedience, and all things are possible when you put God first in your life. Its doesn't mean he will bless you with reaching your dream of farming, but your chances are better with him than without, so do his will above all.
      Good luck to you, and don't ever give up on your dream to farm, regardless who tries to tell you, you can't do it, if your persistent, work hard and save, and put God first, there is nothing that is impossible for you.
