Domestication is bred into dogs over generations; there was an experiment done where researchers put a bowl of food slightly out of reach of a group of puppies and wolf pups. After attempting to get the food a few times, the puppies began intermittently glancing at the researchers in the room, basically asking for help. The wolf pups did not glance at the researchers once, and instead kept attempting to get the food on their own. If you are not an extremely experienced trainer, a wolf will be far far more likely to seriously injure you or another person than a dog. Most people don't know but the bond man has with dogs is literally in our DNA. Dogs are close cousins to wolves and for thousands of years man and wolf were side by side companions. Even if the wolf is raised directly with you, there are wolf behaviors you must be aware of at all times. That's why most people struggle greatly with wolf-dogs, which vary on wolf percentage and behavioral differences. Owning a wolf is very, very difficult and strongly discouraged.

Growing up as a kid, my grandfather brought home a coyote puppy. We all bonded with that coyote like a regular dog. We played a lot because it was very active. This man's story reminds me of having a domesticated wild animal. 🐺

Only thing is, you never fully domesticate a pure bred wolf. Will always have some wild instinct. Probably why it could hunt if the story is anywhere close to true.
A wolf can’t be domesticated. That’s not how that works. You can’t tame a wolf either. You can’t neuter a wolf, nor can you feed it dog food.
A wolf needs to hunt, a wolf needs to mate, a wolf needs to start its own pack. Wolves don’t belong in a persons house.
It’s ok to care for a wolf while it’s a cub, but you need to find it a good reservation where it will be safe, and cared for.

Growing up as a kid, my grandfather brought home a coyote puppy. We all bonded with that coyote like a regular dog. We played a lot because it was very active. This man's story reminds me of having a domesticated wild animal. 🐺
