@@jamesmatthews2224horses for courses I guess, problem for me is, you don’t wait for the players in front to play their second shots, you need to wait for them to clear the entire hole; that definitely slows the start of a round
That would be great for a different series, but the better ball scramble is so they can go as low as possible which then is the score rating for the course.

Never liked courses that start with a par 3, stupid i guess, but just think it starts the round slowly and hence wrongly.
I’m the opposite, I like a par 3 start.

I've never played a course in the U.S. that has a Par 3 for the first hole...the second hole..yes.

Agree but last month played a charity tournament with a shotgun start. Started on par 3, hit a nice 8 iron and walked off with an easy birdie.
I hate a par 3 to finish somehow I feel cheated
